Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

OKAY!!!

I could nt do it....

I had to do pirate shirts.

i bought the stuff tonight and will work on and finish sometime before we leave AND i had also just about given up on the first day boarding shirts but i bought stuf for that too....

I have laot fo work to do... .....

BUT had to catch up on here first.

Do you NOT fly......

Well, I have no fear of flying, I've been on a plane a few times, including over the Atlantic to Italy, but I had a few vacation days to use up anyway and I kind of romanticize the idea of taking the train...

That and I wasn't sure if my tushy would fit on a plane seat! :crowded: Plus, I won't have the stress of taking off my shoes, belt, socks, glasses, denture or any artificial limb I may or may not have!

And all the anguish over luggage capacity? Not so much an issue on the train. So there's that. :)

GiddyRhino......your dentures gave you away. I know you're one of those "over-camomilled grannies!!" (grampies, that is!)

Also......we like to get to the terminal right when it opens too....it may be crowded in line! :headache: The benefit to us (besides that possible chance to upgrade)- is that we head straight to Goofy's Galley for wraps, the kids get to have the pool all to themselves, and I get to start clicking away taking photos of a near empty ship! Mind you, this will only be our 2nd Disney cruise, but it worked amazing last time!

Got your passports out, everybody??

Yes, there may be a crowd! We are planning on getting there at 10, too! We will just have a little DIS meet in line! :rotfl2: Oh, I didn't realize Goofy's is open when you get on the ship. Are all of the quick service restaurants open?

Yes they are! The boys got hot dogs at Pluto's.....and DH and I were delivered drinks of the day in those fancy plastic glasses that we've never once used......ask for it in a regular cup! I WILL be havin one of those Breeze drinks!!:woohoo:

So much fun!!! Summer clothes are just coming out here so hopefully you'll find something. NYC tends to be ahead of us though so you should be all set! :) Fur bermudas....would LOVE to see that!!! I was going to recommend seeing a show as they really are amazing. Haven't seen Billy Elliot but heard some amazings things about it! I'm so jealous!!! You can't go wrong with all the known restaurants and probably don't need a reservation this time of year. :) Enjoy and I hope it doesn't snow too much while you are here...while you are used to the snow, people still act like fools here! :)

Thankfully no morning sickness. That would suck! :) We are feeling much better. DH wasn't feeling well and he tends to take every medicine known to man when he is sick and it didn't work. After a couple days he figured to go to the Dr to stop it earlier so he was better before vacation and they put him on antibiotic #4. Apparently it is very strong and he is feeling much much better. I am feeling better except my sinuses are killing me. I also found a huge lump in my throat the past couple weeks and this morning while DD was in preschool I ran to the Dr just to get it checked out (never google lump in throat!). Turns out my tonsils are superinflamed and I'm swollen from my nose to my throat. The problem is I am allergic to a lot of antibiotics so I am told to "tough it out". Which I'm fine with but wanted to be sure the lump wasn't something worse! :)

Awesome!!! Great job!!! Wow 1500 posts!

What a great idea!!! Can't wait to see it! And thank you for the info about what to print out. :)

So excited....I can't believe it's almost here! I keep showing DD pictures of "Mickey's boat". She obviously doesn't understand yet....this should be interesting!!!

I got to see Billy Elliot about 2 months ago.. i hAVE TO SAY IT WAS MY FAV BROADWAY SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! to date!

Dont know why i am NOW panicing... but passport cards ARE allowed for transportation by sea correct? I remember reading they are, but i am for some reason having last min panic.... for no reason!

Cool! I was a little concerned that my picky DS wouldn't find anything he likes at Parrot Cay for lunch. This is great!

Ok I have another silly question. Can I bring DD in the family pool with me if I bring a tube for her? She loves this baby float thing that hardly fit her but she can't get enough of it. I plan to bring it for Castaway Cay but wondering if we can use it in the family pool?

Oh and putting out clothes now for packing and slightly freaking out. I have long sleeves, short sleeves, tank tops, etc but coordinating pieces. Plus pirate outfit, Minnie dress, princess dress, formal outfit, bathing suits, coverups, etc. And that's just for DD!!! It's like we need to pack for all seasons!!! Probably going to cut out half of her outfits and plan to do laundry one day during her nap. :(

I'm pretty sure she can go in, as long as she's potty-trained. Otherwise, I think I read that little ones still in swim diapers are only allowed in the splash-zone area near the Mickey pool.

passport Cards are used for ONLY traveling by land(bus, car) or sea. If for some reason you needed to leave the cruise via air you will not be allowed to travel

So I feel like I have my door-magnet situation under control. And then again...it seems like I'm doing an awful lot of cutting. Trying to trim the excess magnet paper from around Minnie's eyelashes finally snapped me back to my senses! But I have a question for previous cruisers/door decorators:

Is the excess magnet paper strong enough to hold up the magnets I'll be making from laminated cardstock? I read some posts where people just say to cut up some old refrigerator magnets and stick them on the back of the laminate. I don't really have a lot of actual magnets, but I have a ton of this magnet paper scrap. The two seem to have the same degree of magnetism when I test them on my door, but that's without anything glued on. I don't want my magnets falling off all week! What do you think?

(I might not have used the word "magnet" in my entire life as many times as I did for just this one post.)

I don't actually use the magnetic paper.....I use the magnetic tape roll. I cut the strips into a few magnets for the corners of each one......is this lame?

I know the cruise lines have rules about no swimmers in the pools so if she is potty trained you should be good but with that said i have seen little ones in swimmers in the pools so guess its up to staff to kick you out or not.

WOO HOO finally my FEs are done, we finished the kids FEs on the weekend and tonight i finally finished the room FEs, guess i can start packing now. :cool1:

Lynn......

Just out of curiousity, what's your guess on how much it will cost you to upgrade to a suite? And can I follow behind you in line to pick up your verandah?!? :cool1:

Great information on 5K, thanks for posting. Are any of your DHs doing the run or am I one of the only Dis guys on here thinking about it at the moment? I was thinking Yes, then was a No as of last few days. Now, I am a Definite Maybe. LOL

I was trying to convince myself that would be a great 2nd visit activity to CC. :rotfl: I thought since this was my first time with our kids to CC I didn't want to be worn out, miss any fun things or being to tired to enjoy the time playing with them on CC. Also thinking being sore the next morning disembarking and while spending a full day with sore feet and muscles walking around Universal didn't sound like much fun. BUT then..... I am also a sucker for any fun new experience like doing a 5K on CC. Those pictures she posted really make it look and feel more relaxed and take it easy kind of a group run/race.

We have a 10am Shuttle from Raddison so we will be at port early too. I am not interested in a Suite, but if any of you upgrade to Suites and give up an Outside or Veranda room I would love to consider upgrading from our inside room on Deck 7 depending on the price difference. I'll figure out what I will be wearing or some easy way to be recognize us so if any of you do hopefully get one you might find us in the terminal so we request after you get your upgrade. I know many of us will be in the mix doing the cool Scavenger hunts with the kids so probably won't be too hard to find Disers.

I really hope one of you get a Suite, that would be very cool. If any of you do get the Roy or Walt suites especially, I would love to come and take a look at it, they sound and look awesome from the pictures. I believe our wave phones will be something like 7509-1 and 7509-2 you could text us onboard if you don't mind DW and I coming to see it.

Question for those not first time on DCL, do they have Shampoo and Conditioner in the Bathrooms and is it good quality? Some CLs do and others use cheap or soapy smelling stuff. I would rather not buy it in Cocoa night before or not pack it being heavier & risk breaking open in ziplock or luggage but will if it is not good quality for the DW & DDs with longer hair. :dance3:

ps Why are three overly happy Smiles taking shower together dancing with white shower caps on or rubbing shampoo on hair? LOL, On my laptop monitor it really looks like three smiles rubbing shampoo on their head? to funny!

We are staying at the CI&S, and the person I talked to on the phone said we had to wait until the day we check in to sign up for a shuttle time. Does anyone know if that is correct? I would love to go ahead and call to sign up for a time.
