Staying at Ft. Wilderness cabins for the first time.

January 8

I woke up very early, had my coffee, oatmeal, shower, and got the teens up. We were out of there and waiting for a bus by 7:20am. Well, the buses were just SO SLOW!! We did manage to get to AK by 8:05am. Not too bad!! J

OK, I guess I should have looked at my park info sheet closely. The ONLY thing open for AK’s EMH morning was It’s Tough to be a Bug, and the trails (Discovery Island and Pangani Forest). Well, apparently I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know this…there were lots of people who were upset that nothing else was open. Why bother having an EMH morning if none of the big rides are open???? Well, we went to ITTBAB and then headed over to the safari. By the time we got to the safari it was up and running. We waited about 5 minutes to get on there. After that, we headed over to the 9:40am showing of the Lion King. I’m so glad I got to do this again. We all enjoyed it immensely. We then heading over to Dinosaur and I started stressing out…”we’ll never get to ride this...it will be too crowded…etc.” We got to Dinosaur and it was a 5 minute wait. The teens made me sit on the front far right seat and even though I knew “it” was coming, it still is a thrill. Since the disaster experience at RnR the night before, Dinosaur is now my favorite WDW ride. It was getting late, and I was expecting the little ones to be awake by now. I was stressing that dh wouldn’t wake up because he still wasn’t feeling good. I told the teens we had to get back to the cabin. Dn13 wanted to ride the Kali River Rapids. I said if the line is less than 15 minutes, we could go. It was a walk on. Of course, I got soaked…grrr…but that’s ok because it was already getting pretty hot out.

We headed back to the cabin after the water ride. As we were walking up towards the cabins we could hear loud Reggae music. Who is playing Reggae??? Guess who???? Yep, it was dh, dd6, and ds4 singing and dancing to Reggae and Ska music. Dh was feeling better (in fact, GREAT) and the kids woke up kinda early. They were all ready to head to the parks. I was EXHAUSTED, but I was going to practice what I preach…This is WDW!!! So, I changed my wet clothes and dh, me, dd6, and ds4 headed to Epcot. The teens put on their suits and we dropped them off at the pool on our way to Epcot. We were going to meet them at 4:30pm at Japan for dinner.

We had a blast at Epcot. We spent the early part of the day in Future World and doing everything there that we could. I don’t remember the Figment ride being that way???!!!!!! Completely different! Also, everything in The Land was closed down. That’s ok, we’ve done everything there before, and we’re going to get to WDW again, so no big deal. We also headed to the Ice Station. The kids and I took tiny sips of everything. There was a women there who was filling up her cup to the rim and chugging the drinks…YUCK!!! We headed to the countries and the kids started collecting the stuff for the masks at the Kid Stations. I was walking with the kids down the stairs from Canada and I could have sworn I saw someone from the Disboards! I’m wondering if it was “Bill from PA”. He was heading to WDW the same week as me so I’ve read tons of his posts. He has a picture of himself in his sig line so I feel like I know him so well…lol. I’m not sure it was him, but it looked just like his picture. I really need to remember to post a message asking him if he was in Canada that day. Anyway, I didn’t stop him to ask him if it was Bill…I just kept on walking with the kids to the next country.

The teens got to Japan about 10 minutes late. Someone told them the wrong bus to take at Ft. Wilderness and they ended up at the Settlement Post instead of the Outpost. No big deal…the people at Teppanyaki (sp?) said it wasn’t a problem. The dinner there and the rest of the evening at Epcot was the highlight of our vacation! We had a blast!! The chef was just too funny and the food was great. We were all feeling healthy (for once) and we just had a blast. We walked over to Norway and rode the Maelstrom. Dd17 thought the CM at the end of the ride was “hot” so we had to ride it over again. No problem…we were the only ones on the ride anyway!! The little ones were holding their hands up in the air at the drop and we couldn’t stop laughing. We took a picture of the kids with the big Troll in the gift shop because that has become a family tradition. We bought the little ones their Viking hats and we promised dn13 that she could get candy because she was the ONLY one who finished all her dinner at Japan.

We rode the ride in Mexico and once again, we were the only ones there. It was getting late and we wanted to head back to the cabin. The teens wanted to go to Downtown Disney, so we thought we would all go there for a quick trip. I’ve never been there before and I didn’t realize how congested it can be. Also, I didn’t realize how big it was. I didn’t want the teens to be there that late (it was around 9pm) and I didn’t want them taking the bus back from there. Ds4 fell asleep in his car seat so I told dh to drop me and ds4 off at the cabin and head back to DTD with all the girls.

I was asleep when they all got back.

Next report: MK (our last day)

Another great day! Glad everyone is feeling good now. You've got me wishing that I hadn't switched our PS from Teppanyaki to Le Cellier now. Maybe we can have lunch in Japan one day...
