We cruised last September in the middle of hurricane season. Honestly, I took the risk with no insurance. Depending on if a system is forming, they will switch order of the ports we go to or which ports we go to. I personally don't care too much about what ports we go to so its ok to me. They will make the best decision they can with the information given.

I think that is the only good reason to book excursions through Disney. This trip, I may end up just booking everything through them. I don't care which ports we go to either, but I will book excursions.

The Southern Caribbean (Oct) cruise I am not worrying about it and will book excursions outside of Disney. This cruise however, I think I will book through Disney to make sure I don't have to pay if we end up changing ports.

Wow - so if it was the case that the cruise went from 7 days to 4 days would Disney refund us the money for cutting short our cruise or would we have to buy insurance to compensate for that? Now I am a little worried...

You can tell we're not worried this will be out 5th fall trip. Disney was awesome... they really know how to take care of people... well they ARE Disney :smickey:

Disney Cruise Lines refunded 50% of the cruise cost and gave us the offer of 25% off a cruise the following year. The trip insurance paid for the extra nights at the hotel and meals while we waited for the cruise to start. Insurance covers what is lost that can't be refunded, expenses due to delays, etc.

We actually had a great time at Disney All-Star and originally we hadn't planned a day at the parks. Let's just call it a interesting itinerary change ... so it's all good :thumbsup2

Sorry Sweetlovin - the insurance paragraph in my previous comment was suppose to be a quote from LissG previous comments, I don't know why it did not appear in quotes (just fixed it)

I have never bought insurance for any cruise before, never really wanted to spend the money, but I am a little worried about this one being so long (7 days) and during hurricane season. I might have to do more research.

I bought the insurance for the first cruise because Sabrina was only 3, and I was worried she'd pick up a flu at daycare and we would have to cancel. Hurricanes didn't even cross my mind.

Thanks for the tips. There is so much to look into before the trip! Are there perks to stay on the ship when it docks at port or activities going on? We will have grandpa (74yrs) and my little one (3 yrs), so a lot of those really active excursions don't really work out for us. I guess we could walk around town...?

You asked about shipboard perks on shore days. Typically the spa has special offers. I remember a sampler with 15 min of 3 different treatments for a sweet deal. Specials will be advertised in the Navigator (daily newsletter). I just looked at a Navigator for Day 1 on a Fantasy cruise. The spa was offering an extra 15 minute spa treatment for a same day booking. Sound good to me.

SPOILER ALERT: If you NEED to know everything, there are Navigators from previous cruises you can view here on the DIS click here. I didn't even hear about the DIS until we were on our 3rd cruise. I try to skip a few Magic Moments here and there when I post. I think NOT knowing EVERYTHING makes a first cruise or new route a bit more magical :tinker:

Hi!! Add me to the list!!! It will be me and my DH. We just cruised on the Dream September 1-5 and booked a 3 night for Aug 28 but have decided to cruise on the 7 night western on August 30. We absolutely loved the cruise!!! We will be celebrating our 9th anniversary on September 4. Hopefully August 30 - September 6 will be as smooth sailing as our last cruise!!

Also trying to work in a 3 night in May....if only airfare was not so expensive!! :/

My ticker will be updated tonight, yay!!

Welcome to the group :) Lots of anniversary celebrations :goodvibes

Hey All! Can we join the fun? The Davis Family will be sailing along with yall next August!

My name is Amira and my family consists of DH Michael, DD Mari 5 (She will be 6 on the Cruise) and DS Jackson 9mos, but he will be just shy of two when we set sail.

After a few years in the park we decided to switch it up and go on our first cruise. My DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary. We would also love to participate in FE, if there is still space :)

Can't wait!

We were on that cruise :-)

It is with a heavy heart that I am canceling this cruise. Samantha and Nico are both officially home school (no virtual school). Samantha has asked to change to the Halloween Cruise on Oct 25th, 2014.

:( I thought since Julie took Sam's original cruise choice, then her second choice (Transatlantic Eastbound I had to change because of Julie's graduation) I feel like she should have the cruise that she wants. I hope you all have an amazing cruise and I hope some of you stay in touch. This group is awesome maybe we will meet up on another cruise at a later time.
