Jammin' on the Backlot

My kids would love it.

We went along one night to the Mad T Party but only lasted a few minutes. Too young for Mrs McN and I and too old for our kids...

The Mad T Party was always something to avoid on our trips - very loud and crowded with adults who really didn't care if they ran over kids. With three kids 10 and under, it just didn't seem like a cool place to hang out. Now that it seems to not be so edgy, maybe the locals will avoid it and the party will really be a family-oriented event. Not sure if this make everyone in the area happy, but it'll be better for the family vacation traveler.

If it's like the "Dancing with Disney" that used to happen back there, sign me up! We stumbled across that in 2013 and met so many rare characters in one fell swoop, it was awesome!

I just hope that it will be better received than Freeze the Night, which was also billed as being a family-friendly event. I do recall seeing more kids at Freeze the Night than at Mad T Party, but it didn't seem like it was something that really entertained little ones for very long. Hopefully Jammin' on the Backlot will have more to interest kids, while at the same time have things to entertain the adults.

We didn't stay for this, but yesterday they were making announcements every 30 mins or something to advertise. It got to be a little annoying. I hope people like it, though!

We stopped there after the last Frozen Show on Sunday. It was basically a DJ, loud music, and some picnic tables. The guests there ranged from families dancing with toddlers to social club members drinking and being somewhat loud. I really don't see this as a venue where there would be characters. My guess is adult beverage sales were slumping since Mad T ended and this was a frugal way to get people to belly up to the bar. I read somewhere there will be face painting and trivia if that happens it might be more family friendly. My kids are grown but if they had an area like this back when mine were little I wouldn't waste my time hanging aroung loud music and berr/wine drnking adults when I was at DLR!!!YMMV
