James and Jeffrey PJ - 05/10/11 - SBP/Attic/UK DP/Wedding Day 2 Arrival

Wow what a day yesterday. Computer died two weeks ago, everything reinstalled and everything was looking good. DF forgot, however, to install some sort of spyware and now I am fighting 30 viruses on this thing. Tried to craft yesterday and stabbed myself with a butter knife and cut through 1/4 of my nail. Please, dont ask why I was doing a craft with a butter knife... bad decision. Last night I also had a dream that we got down to Disney for the wedding and found out we had no money and could not pay for it. I woke up in cold sweats last night. I have a feeling this dream may happen often However :lmao: .On a happier note it looks like we are going the first thing in October for our PS. Our STD's are still a work in progress but coming along . and I am happy enough with one craft that I am going to post a pic of it. Mine you this is only a trial sample. I thought I would look for some feedback though.

Man you are the Glitter King!(Queen? Not sure how that works LOL). I LOVE LOVE LOVE those for favor boxes!!! Are they going to be hard to make a ton of them?

Anyway (and BTW), I loved your engagement story and Mickey mouse chocolate posts, I'm looking forward to following your planning!

I was thinking I might be able to use them as wedding favors but not certain if they are cute enough or if Disney will allow me to use them.

About the in-home reception I agree with the ladies that have replied before me. I think a third party would be sooo much stress, a get-together with snacks to show everybody photos, etc, sounds like a plan.

I went to an awesome engagement party a year ago, it was held in the backyard of the bride, they just strung some lights around for decor/lightning, got a bunch of folding tables with white table cloths and mason jars with flowers from the grocery store, the stereo from inside playing an ipod playlist, a bunch of snacks from Costco, a cake, and use mismatched chairs that they gathered from friends and family to give it a very informal yet incredibly cute garden party look.

We all felt it was just perfect and the bride and groom were sorely tempted to be married in the spot because it turned out so cute with such little hassle.

They also had soda and beer available and a friend that is a bartender had volunteered to put up a bar as a wedding present, so there was an open bar to boot.

It was a blast!

Hi, I'm a bit late but just wanted to join in and wish you all the best with your plans! We are planning for October 2011. Love your engagement story, so sweet :goodvibes

We have our planning session October 1st. Apparently the time we chose coincides with Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween and Epcot Food and Wine Festival. We are DVC members and just bought 100 extra points at Bay Lake towers so we figured this was the best chance to use them this year. I called and tried booking a studio (kids staying with relatives) at Boardwalk. The cast member told me it was full. I figured no problem and told her to book anywhere but Saratoga (always end up there and wanted something new). She starts searching:

Bay Lake- full
Animal Kingdom-full

Thinking that is ok these are popular

Key West-full
Beach Club-full

I start thinking I am going to have to reschedule appointment

Wilderness Lode- full

I am never going to get in!!!!!

Saratoga....

No studio....but one bedroom available.

Thank goodness, but of course at Saratoga. Of course our flight gets in late so I am pretty certain our room will be at the farthest reaches of the resort. I am just happy we managed to get in. I was afraid we were not going to be able to get tickets for Mickeys not so scarey halloween because it was so hard to get a room. WE DID :cloud9: I guess because we are not going to have any kids this trip I am going to have to consider this our honeymoon :goodvibes

Yay for being able to book something! :) Maybe you can call back in a week or two to see if anyone has cancelled their rooms in advance to see if you can escape Saratoga.

Yeah, I would turn that into a pre-honeymoon considering you have both the Food & Wine Festival & the Halloween party to celebrate. Are you going to dress up for the MNSSHP? I'm trying to convince DF for us to attend and dress up.

I am so glad you were able to get a room somewhere!!! And get tickets to MNSSHP. It would be so fun to dress up and go!!

DF gave me my first wedding gift... ok I had to pay a price to get it but so worth it. Here is a picture.

We already have two dogs, two cats, fish, birds and a hermit crab so Jeff was not very happy when I mentioned getting another dalmatian. It tooks months of begging and pleading but he finally gave in (sort of). I was told that the cost of Jasper (puppies name) would have to come out of my floral budget. DONE. My bouncidng baby boy was picked up the very next day :rotfl: Flowers for wedding will only last a day but once the wedding is over I will still have a dalmatian waitng for me. I think I made the right choice even though I had to sleep on the floor last night.

He is so cute!! I agree with your logic on the flowers. If I was offered a Shih tzu puppy but it to come out of the flowers I would definitely say yes!!

Just signing onto your planning journal now..congrats on your wedding! I love the Mickey Pops you made and also the Mickey favor boxes, they're sooooo cute!

Oh, and I've been BEGGING my fioncee for a dog like the one you just got, you're so lucky. Congrats! :cool1::cheer2:party:

(oh, and incase you were wondering, this is my 50th post on the threads. wohoo!)

So sorry I have not responded. Whenever I go to respond one of the boys or dogs is getting into something (go figure) and I had to battle a computer that no longer wanted to work. I believe if people are nice enough to post a response I should acknowledge them and let everone know how much I appreciate them. Thank you everyone and I hope to post soon enough some actual wedding stuff.

Thank you so much and you may call me a Glitter Queen anytime. They are so much prettier.

I agree with both of you. A nice simple affair will be fun. A garden party... I like it. We will have to work on that.

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I hope you are not late because I feel like I have just started this thing. I have barely anything done and hope I still have time. Best wishes for your October plans :goodvibes

We both enjoy the Saratoga Resort just wanted something different this time. I am so excited about getting to see Disney during Halloween and can not wait. I will have to see about dressing up though.

OMG, he is adorable!
I agree with you, giving up the flowers is totally worth having him.

apparently my color scheme has gone from navy and yellow to black and white. I wonder if this means we can bring him down for the wedding?????

Jasper! from 101 Dalmations! I love love love it!pluto:

If I had a prize you would win... you rock and are the first one to get the connection.

Congrats on your 50th post... I am still having nightmares about those darn Mickey pops LOL. I have been unable to bring myself to make a second batch. I also still have to start working on those Mickey favors and welcome stuff. Oh where does the time go?

Just remember when you hear Dalmatians are hyper- active they are! I love them and would not have them any other way.

Followed you over from the GLBT Board.

Congrats on your engagement!

As far as the money pit of a wedding........it will stop eventually, but the money pit of 3 boys WILL NEVER STOP!!!!!!!! (I have 2 boys, ages 5 and 6) From what I hear, the teen years they will eat you out of house and home!

Congrats on your puppy!!!!!!!!!!! I had a dalmatian growing up, Sparky, DH had 2, Brooklyn and Tiller (DH is a fireman).............so when we met guess what we got...............a dalmatian (actually he is a mix, mom was dal, dad was Australian Shepard).................he is the BADDEST thing on 4 legs!!!! Thank goodness for him he is so darn cute!!!!!

I'll be in WDW Sept 25 to Oct 4!!!!!!!!!!!! So maybe one night we may 'see' each other!! LOL!

Just catching up a little late here.

I love all your plans and your Mickey Pops saga made me laugh out loud. I feel your pain with the DIY stuff. I am currently trying to teach myself how to make a wedding cake for our at home party, not to mention the 150 cupcakes, table centres, bunting ....and on it goes!

Looking forward to following along with you in your planning.

I love the black & white/dalmation theme for the wedding. It sounds really adorable. Could you imagine if you could get him to be your ring bearer. How cute would that be!!:lovestruc

I am feeling the urge to start working on our welcome "bags" tomorrow. What could possibly go wrong? I will keep you posted.

If you are looking for ideas...check out this thread...it has a HUGE list of practically all the possibilities for things to put in a welcome bag:

Also, check out Joanne's (tinkerbell 766) thread. She has ideas for cute gift tags if you want to go the disney character route. Or you could use your monogram for the gift tags. I like choosing 3 monograms/logos that are similar in style and with the same colors to tie them all together and use them on different things. i.e. one for a wine bottle tag, one for a gift tag for the bag, another for a water bottle label, etc. Check out this thread post #212 will give you an idea for how to mix and match:

I LOVE putting together welcome bags and favors!

That would be amazing. :goodvibes He is a dalmatian though and they are very different from the movie.

Thanks Dolly that list is going to be a huge help.

I followed you over from your post on the G&L Board. Thanks for an entertaining read so far. I likely won't post much, but, will enjoy laughing along.

I also think a dalmatian was a better choice than more flowers.

So my partner and I are obviously not your typical couple and we face some different challenges to get married. First of all most states will not allow us to get married. These state include New York (where we live) and Florida. We plan on getting married in VT (only a few minutes away and where it is legal)before we head to Disney.

Does NY recognize you as married once you get married in VT?

I'm asking because there was a case in the NY State Supreme Court that said they need to recognize as legal marriages performed in Canada. I haven't followed these things closely, but, there was a brief tourism surge right afterward. I thought I'd mention it just in case it makes a difference for you.

I have to say that although you may not be a typical couple you sound like an awfully giving couple. We are also foster parents and it's a lot of work and commitment and you really need a strong bond with each other to support each other through the stress.

Enjoy the planning!
