Is staying at Jambo really that bad transportation wise?
I've been hearing snippets of people saying by the time the bus gets to Jambo there's only standing room left.
I'd hate to have to stand in the bus with our 1yo.

How far is the walk from Jambo bus stop to Kidani?
I wonder if it's worth it to walk that walk to avoid standing room only situation.

In our two one-week stays at AKV (both times at Jambo), plus at least 6 trips over to AKV (via Disney bus transportation) for dinner at Boma, we've never had a standing-room only bus ...

Lots of them (particularly leaving a park to go back to a resort) to other resorts; never to AKV...

Some of those trips were during spring break and T-giving week. (None at Christmas)...

FWIW...

It's about a 10-minute walk from the Jambo lobby to the Kidani bus stop...maybe about 1/3 to 1/2 mile...pretty much all "open to the weather"...reasonably pleasant in nice weather...not too appealing in the rain or super hot/super cold...

If by chance you did encounter a standing-room-only bus situation at Jambo, you could always wait for the next bus...typically, if there's a wait long enough that the crowd is standing room only, another bus to the same park is likely to show up pretty quickly after that crowded one...

In other words, I wouldn't worry much about this ...

Good luck!

Thank you so much!
That makes me feel a lot better. My worries about waiting for the next non busy bus is the next bus might be busy as well.
But your experience made me feel better. It's just that I've heard stories here and there that started to make me a lot worried about this resort. I hope our experience will be closer to yours than these other stories I heard.

You do have some risk of a full bus, and thus standing room only, for one going to a park at Jambo because they stop at Kidani, but the risk only really exists during the early morning rush hour for park opening and shortly thereafter.

We have never encountered full busses we have stayed only in jamba and even when we stay elsewhere we always book boma or sanaa to eat and never experienced full busses but that a timing thing. The one thing we notice is it takes longer to get anywhere from akl and there isnt as many busses as okw or saratoga. At those 2 along with boardwalk you have more choices to take if plan a falls thru.

DH and I have been lucky at Jambo too. I did see people with electric carts be disappointed, and with them their whole family.

My family has stayed at Kidani on a few occassions , some stays were during peak times like Christmas Week and Presidents' Holiday Week. We've taken buses to the parks at all hours of the day, including early mornings for Rope Drop, and never rode on a standing room only bus coming from the resort.

Coming back from the parks, especially after fireworks, is a completely different story.....but that applies to all the resorts.

I was there last June and in the early morning the bus did fill-up at Jambo, some people were left to wait for the next bus. The rest of the day wasn't bad.

Thanks everyone!
Moral of the story, if I need to get to the park early in the morning before park opens I need to hoof it over to kidani bus stop.
Other than that, I should be ok by the Jambo bus stop... :thumbsup2

I was happy that I was staying at Kidani because the majority of the time we were on the bus, there were LOADS of people waiting to get on at Jambo House and we had standing room only on various occasions. It probably had to do with timing (getting to the parks first thing) and the parks were a little more crowded than I anticipated at that time (it was Nov. 5-9). I am used to going in the third week of April because I am a teacher and it is ALWAYS crowded then. I felt like the parks were just as crowded when we went in November as they were when we go in April. When exactly are you going to WDW? I think that will make all the difference.

I have encountered full buses on occasion, but that was Christmas week and Memorial day weekend. I have 2 kids, and it seemed like there was always someone willing to give up their seat to let me sit. Now I can't say that everyone's manners will be the same, but it's nice to think the Disney family looks out for one another. But it also wasn't often that they were that full. I think you'll do fine. Have a great trip!
