Hi
Which resort would you prefer for the first part of a split stay? The second part will be Poly.

Party of 5, so I am thinking on 2 studios or 1 BR. First time in a DVC villa.

I like that both resorts are kind of rustic feeling... it seems that CC have better transportation.. but Jambo is a great experience too..

Thanks

CCV then Jambo in my opinion. I love both resorts, but I have more energy at the beginning of the trip, and I can get my MK fix in at CCV first with its proximity to the park. Jambo, especially with animals (if you have a Savannah view), is the perfect highlight ending, and place to relax.

You can't really go wrong with either at beginning or end, but I own both and that's how I'd do it. :)

Thanks!.. how spread out is CC? I have read that Jambo requires some long walks from the bus stop, right?

Are you planning to stay at both and trying to decide which order?
Or do you have something else planned for the second resort and you're trying to decide which of these two to put first?

Also, at CCV, you'll need a 2 bedroom (or the two studios you mentioned) with a party of 5. Studios and 1 bedrooms only sleep 4. I think Boulder Ridge at Wilderness Lodge sleeps 5 in both the studio and 1 bedroom.

Hi! We love both of those resorts - you mention there are 5 people in your party but not sure if you have any little ones in your party? Reason I ask is because I believe the one bedrooms at these two resorts fit up to 4 people- but I’m sure you could fit 3 littles on a pullout couch or the bed if need be ( or even add a pack and play For a baby). Otherwise if there are 4 adults I would recommend two studios.

In terms of which resort for the first part of a split stay I would say it depends on which parks you are going to visit first. If you are going to want to visit MK during the first part of your trip then I would stay at Copper Creek first but that’s just me. We have also taken a very quick Uber from Wilderness to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot. Hope this helps!

I also would plan around your Park Pass Reservations. Try to have Park Pass Reservations for MK on the days you are at Poly. If you are mostly or exclusively visiting MK, go with CCV. Otherwise, I'd mix it up and do AKL.

As to choice of resort, a lot depends on whether you are an owner of one of those resorts and time of year you intend to go, since you may find it difficult to get a room you want.

Owners can reserve their home resort beginning at 8 a.m.11-months out from date of arrival; other DVC members can reserve a non-owned resort 7-months out. If you want any studios at CCV, you need to be an owner attempting to reserve right at 8 a.m. eastern at 11-months out and even then you might fail to get the reservation because during the fall those typically fill within nanoseconds after 8 a.m., and likewise intermittently the rest of the year. Also,1BRs typically fill before 7-months out in the fall and intermittently the rest of the year.

At AKV, value and club level studios disappear at or before 8 a.m. at 11-months out 85% of the year; value and club level 1BRs also sometimes fill right at 11-months out and are seldom available at 7 months out. standard and savanna view studios, and sometimes 1BRs, can fill before 7-months out in the fall; during the rest of the year standard and savanna view 1BRs are typically open even at 7-months out, while studios at Jambo are about 50/50 at 7-months out, and standard studios at Kidani can fill occasionally before 7-months out, but savanna studios are usually open.

For particular rooms, be aware that CCV does not allow 5 in a 1BR. AKV 1BRs (other than value) allow and have sleeping spots for 5 (king bed in bedroom, and pull-out couch queen and a twin sleeper chair in the living room). The Kidani 1BR is larger and has two bathrooms and thus is ideal for 5.

In essence, if your choice is a 1BR for 5, I would suggest trying to get a 1BR at Kidani if room comfort plays any part in your equation for choosing a room. Between a studio and 1BR at CCV, you cannot choose the 1BR for 5, and you are unlikely to be able to get two studios, so CCV is an unlikely choice.

Thanks for the comments! I am trying to decide between those two based on the experience (the AW feeling that I would like my family to feel the first time that we walk into the resort and the room);
And also based on transportation / not long walks within the resort, how easy would be to come back for a break...

I thought the OP said the second half of the split was at Poly? If so, I'd maybe try Jambo since Poly is an MK Resort
