Hi everyone,
We are so excited for our first stay at AKL. The pictures are spectacular.
I posted this on the restaurants board but didn't get any response. Hopefully someone will be able to help me here.
We will be staying at the AKL in May and I know we will want to eat at Boma for breakfast. It's a must do for dinner - I already have my PS. I didn't think that I would need one for breakfast, but after reading these boards I'm starting to see that it's very popular.
Should I make my PS now or can I wait to see when I get there?
Thanks for all the great info on the lodge. We loved the WL and expect to love AKL as well.

Hi,
When are you going in May? If it is early May and you eat early meaning before 8 I have found you don't need a PS. Another thing I have done is run down in the morning when I go for my first coffee and make a PS then and have never had a problem if I tell them I am staying there. If you are eating after 8 then I would say yes make a PS just to be safe.

Thanks we're early risers. I usually get my coffee as soon as they open - so that would probably work for us. Last year at our WL stay I found myself waiting for them to open on a # of occasions.

Question for all you vetern concergie people. Since this is our first stay at this level I am not sure what to do at check in. We will be arriving by town car. Do we go to the regular desk or what to get up to the concergie level?

FOUR MORE DAYS TILL WE LEAVE FOR AKL

Just tell the bellhop when you pull up and they will take care of you from there. No need to wait in line at the front desk!

...when you pull up to the front door and the CM's greet you, let them know you are staying concierge - they can then direct you as to where to go (there are actually TWO different locations - one right outside the front door to your left, and another immediately to the left when you enter the lobby[not part of the check-in counter after you enter the lobby] that is kinda 'tucked away' in the corner...)

Woohoo :woohoo: ...you are doin' the "SINGLE-DIGIT" Dance... :cool1:

...it has been my experience that, if you love the WL, you will also fall in love with AKL! :thumbsup2 . As for your breakfast ressies, I would deifinitely call ahead to make them, just for peace of mind....

....mebbe they should give you a key, so YOU can open up for them and get that coffee percalatin' !! :teeth: (if you want just coffee in the AM, you can always go to Mara, which is located across from the pool...)

:rotfl2:
The funny thing is I probably wouldnt mind putting it up!
My kids are extremely early risers at home and I can't seem to break out of it even when we're away.
Was considering asking if concierge was available for our first night so DH could do Sunrise Safari. We will be there the end of May. I'm figuring I should't get my hopes up.

...you can call ahead to ask if concierge is available (more than likely, it will be). However, you must be staying 'concierge' on the day you plan on 'doing' SS....plus, you should be aware that SS is an extra fee, it is NOT included in concierge; concierge only ALLOWS you to be eligible for it....I would call right away, since it gets booked pretty quickly...

Yay!

My parents just bought airfare for our trip this August and they were able to book it so that we will be able to keep our ADR for Boma's breakfast on the last day of our trip. We're also staying concierge level and I was wondering if it even makes sense to eat breakfast at Boma, as I have been hearing that the concierge offerings are excellent and more than sufficient. Any advice?

Tinknme~ Your idea on suprising the kids sounds great. I wish I could see their faces! :goodvibes

Kimmar~ Thanks for the awesome photos. You do such a good job maintaining this thread.

Yes, I saw that. I wonder if we're going to overlap for a few days? We're down 8/25-9/3.

We're standing at the base of the Christmas tree. Is there a mask underneath???

Hi Viki ~

We actually check in on the 3rd, do you check out on the 3rd?? Anyway, you know the big mask in the lobby ~~ I was just wondering if that was it behind you decorated for christmas.......... If it's a tree then I guess not!! My DS was SOOOOO fascinated with that mask....... ( we watched the disc. channel show about AKL about 500 times before we went so he thought he was a "mask" expert!!!) LOL

Oh I will be at work  I will have to see when it is on again.

Wow my boys are going to be so surprised when they see this! I'm still not telling them that we are staying here, till we arrive :teeth: I did not swim in the pool, but I did partake in the hot tub with a pinacolda :thumbsup2

Your boys will love LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! DS did, but we didn't have his earplugs so he couldn't really swim........ he just got to go in enough to get wet~~~ how old are your boys......... DS is 6........... to bad we won't be there at the same time......... they will love AKL though............ DS just LOVED it, and is sooooo excited to be going back.

Make sure they do the night vision goggle thing........... and the parade around the lobby........... that is cute and they get a participation certificate, it's neat!!! There are a ton of activities they can do. DS is interested in doing the adventure camp this time!!!! I'm going to find out about this............. but, I think we are going to let him!!!!
