Just a few questions for my upcoming trip in 38 days:banana:

1. What savanna's are the best with the construction that's going on right now? Zebra Trail (Arusha savanna)

2. I've booked a standard room with an AP rate, I was thinking of upgrading at check-in(paying for it). When I check the WDW website, expedia, and travelocity it says that all they have let for my dates are, standard and pool views. Can they be all sold out of Savanna views on a Sun-Wed in Oct? It's possible only one of those nights is unavailable for Savanna view. I'd suggest you keep checking, but if you don't find any Savanna availability, ask at check-in. :)

3. Or are all the savanna views discounted to standard/pool view's because of the construction going on and the animals being moved around? Savanna views haven't been discounted; they just don't have as much availability as prior to construction.

4. Are ADR's really needed for Boma, and Jiko? Absolutely. Those 2 restaurants are VERY popular!

HTHs! :)

Okay fellow September goers, its almost our time!! 2 weeks from tonight I will have just finished dinner at Ohana, hopefully caught Wishes or the water parade and be heading back to our home away from home. Can't wait!!!!

Hello all. The DH and I just watched our Tivo'd episode of Great Hotels. The DH turns to me and says "I thought there was a pool. Where was the pool?":rotfl2: While it was nice to see the inside of rooms most of us will never be able to stay in, I think the show could have focused a bit more on the realistic side of the AKL. No shots of the pool, no talk about the activities, except the storyteller, and she only went to Jiko? What about Boma, and even Mara? Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful to see and even the DH is super excited to go (in 16 days!!!:cool1: :thumbsup2  :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo: ), but I just would have liked to see a bit more of the Lodge itself, and less of Animal Kingdom. I have already watched every Travel Channel show on WDW, so I didn't need to see Dinosaur. The Sunrise Safari was nice, but she didn't even touch on the fact that it is special, that it stops when there are animals around and that the guide answers your questions. She just made it look like a really early ride on Killimanjaro Safari. :lmao:I liked the show, but wish they would have left out the Animal Kingdom stuff and made her stay at the Lodge and do stuff there. Just my little rant.:sad2: Have a good weekend!

As we were eating dinner this evening, I said to the fam, "two weeks from right now, we will be eating at Chef Mickey's, swinging our napkins, dancing with Chip and Dale!" Woo Hoo!!! I am heading out tomorrow to get all the last minute things we need for the trip, tiny bottles for carry-ons, etc. The excitement is building!:dance3:

We just wanted to post because we are really getting excited. We will be there in 26 days   :cool1: :cool1: :woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3:

Been "lurkin' & workin",

We are excited also and will be at AKL in 9 days..... :thumbsup2

I will take pictures of the construction and post them on here to horrify everyone w/the terror of it all :lmao:

I am sure it will be fine. Can't wait though. A buddy of mine has night vision goggles that he is willing to let me borrow. I am thinking these nogs are going to be way cool.

We have reservations for Boma (Bfast/dinner) & Jiko (dinner), not to mention one last whirl on the old DDP (I will see what the servers say about the changes).

I should have some piccies up starting 9/9/07.

Regards,

We are staying 9 nights and 10 days at AKL/AKV Oct. 19th - 28th. 4 nights in a standard room and 5 nights in a one bedroom Savana view room with our AKV points.

Hey ADP!! We'll be at AKL 10/19-28th, too!!! Savannah view w/ bunk-beds!! Less than 7 weeks to go.... Can you stand it!?! :yay:

Tig-girl - that about sums it up. My thoughts EXACTLY!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2:

Yesterday, I did my shopping for all the "little" things that we need to take, to the tune of $100:scared1: . I can tell you that you sure can't fit a lot of 3 oz bottles in a one quart bag!!! Did you know you can't even pack toothpaste larger than 3 oz in your carry-on? It looks like the majority of the stuff is going to have to be checked, and hope that it all makes it to our destination. Today, I started packing.........:goodvibes

Its crazy how quickly things add up. I spend so much ahead of time for all the stuff we "need" on the trip. I am trying to limit it somewhat this trip, but we shall see. I started a pile of stuff to pack so I will soon be in full packing mode. The longer I take to pack, the more I bring. I know I am going to sound totally negative and pessimistic, but the only bad thing about the trip being so close is that it will also be over soon too and then I will be sooooooo sad. The upside will be that its time to plan a new trip after that!! I think I have my ADR's all set and hope to not change them ANY more but who knows.

Funny, my sister and my DS were both saying the same thing, that it's going to be over so soon! I told them I want no negative thoughts, and no sadness because we are so lucky to be going at all. AND of course, I'm going to start planning DH and my trip to the Emerald Isle as soon as we get back!
Ordered a new swim suit because I've been losing some lbs, and don't you think it came in and was to big! So now I'm sweating it out hoping the exchange comes in within the next 11 days...Yikes!

Congrats to you! Needing a smaller size is always a good thing!! I was thinking i need to get my daughter a 2nd suit. Her "spare" has been outgrown and the pool is her favorite part of the trip no matter where we are. Well, that and the playground. When I asked her what she was most looking forward to seeing again, her answer: the playground @ CBR!!!

Oh Boy....IS SHE ever in for a surprise! If the playground was her fav, can you imagine how she is going to feel about seeing all those animals from her room? You do realize of course, that once you go this crazy, there's no going back to "normal"???:rotfl2:

Hi everyone!

I upgraded from CSR to AKL on Saturday, I'm so excited! I have to admit, I don't know too much about AKL though. I'll be there Nov. 15-19. Are there fridges in the rooms? Will the construction still be going on when I'm there? I booked a standard room, do I need to request any specfic section? Any other info would be great too!

Thanks!

I just wanted to jump in here too. My DH and I added on two extra nights to our October F&W Festival/MNSSHP/Family and Friends Reunion Trip in October. We were fortunate to get a decent AP discount (pool view, no savannah views available).

From what I can tell, the pool view rooms won't be that far removed from the central part of the AKL. Is this correct? Do I need to be any more specific in our requests with CRO?

We have Boma booked for breakfast and Jiko booked one night for dinner. I think this will be a terrific way to wind down after everyone else goes home! ;)

I am afraid not only for her, but for me!! I won't be able to go back to a Mod resort once I've crossed the line!! I am hoping we can get her out of the hotel to see the parks!!! LOL!!

They have soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion at the resort and you can always buy toothpaste there if you need it. If you don't need it on the plane, why carry it on especially if you are checking bags anyway? We've given up carrying on any liquids and it makes it so much easier to get through security!

We've got less than 3 months to go now, is it too early to start packing? :rotfl:

We are really looking forward to staying at AKL and have been checking this board for updates about the construction. Anymore news, how bad is it really?
On Saturday I booked a wishes cruise too, so that's everything sorted now. Just got to play the waiting game
