I was wondering the same thing....is it economical to buy at the hotel or to use a delivery service such as Garden Grocer?
My kids just eat cereal in the am so we will need milk, are the refrigerators large enough to store more than 1 carton? TIA

What location should I have my fingers crossed for at this point? We are staying in two connecting standard concierge rooms (we had originally booked a single deluxe concierge room but due to them being ahead of schedule and me refusing to leave AKL *hee hee hee* we have the two instead). Do you think there is a chance that one of those rooms just might have bunkbeds? Thanks for any last minute input!

In terms of bunk beds, ask the IPO staff and there is a good chance one room will have bunks. We had connecting 4th floor CL rooms in June, I asked for one to have bunks and it did. As for location, I don't know where the construction if any will be so I wouldn't know which trail to request. Ours were near Arusha Rock on Kudu Trail. I'll post a view in a bit and find our room numbers.

Here is the view from our room in June - 4231 (The triangle in the upper corner is the ceiling post). While not in this photo, we saw plenty of animals - they fed them directly in front of the room so they came often.

We are heading to AKL for our 1st time this November. For all of you who have stayed at AKL, I have a question for you. What kinds of food are sold in the Mercantile? I was wondering if they sold breakfast cereals, milk, light snacks and such to bring back to our room. TIA for any info!:goodvibes

Yes, they sell those things and they have expanded their food selections now that DVC units were added. You might want to check on the DVC boards or ask over there.

Depends how much you want. If just cereal and milk, probably just buy at the hotel due to delivery charges. As for the size of the refrigerators, they are the larger dorm-sized ones so a decent amount of room.

We were on the 4th floor. The view of the animals was excellent. Often, they came very near our room. Sorry, I haven't had time to download my pictures yet.
That sounds great! I am so very excited to go to AKL! Thanks for posting your review of the trip (your other thread). I gulped down every bit of info like it was water in the desert! ;) If you have any other tidbits to share...you have an eager ear!! :):):) Did you notice any construction smells (paint fumes, drilling dust, chemicals, etc)?

Thanks again for coming back and sharing all of your impressions! They were very appreciated!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reminder. I will give them a call and ask that bunk beds be noted as request. We have only two other requests, "away from construction" and savanna view. Well, and technically, connecting rooms...but those were "guaranteed" because this is our anniversary trip, we have young kids and Disney made us leave the one room we had booked so they swore up and down and around again that we would have connecting rooms. I am counting on them to follow through with their promise (although I have heard of a few of the construction caused room switches to different resorts not going quite as planned, I have hope that ours will turn out A-Okay).

And no matter what, I will be at AKL and that is one of my happiest places on earth...so it will all work out. I am in desperate need of this vacation. We are expecting baby #4, for all of June and July I was on bed rest. In August my dad had a heart attack, open heart surgery and a stroke...SO...in the grand scheme of things...I NEED this Disney vacation! :wizard: And no matter what comes, I am going to enjoy myself!!
:woohoo: :woohoo:

I feel for you kiddo.

All 3 of our kids are "summer babies". Early august (and 2 weeks late), late Sept and "later" September . My poor wife was miserable.

On the plus side, when our 1 year old AC konked out (this was during her 2nd pregnancy, in the heat of late July).....whoooooooo doggie, did she have a nice place to vent her frustrations and discomfort. Do NOT mess with a hot, miserable, uncomfortable pregnant lady. It's just NOT worth it. :)

Here's hoping your little bundle arrives soon.

:yay:

LOL :rotfl2: Thankfully our air conditioning has worked the entire summer! I can't imagine...

Thank you for your well wishes! :goodvibes We have an "end date" scheduled for Thursday, so only a couple more days at max.

We ended up with the same thing with our first. We ended up with a (and I'm in no way trying to scare you...we weren't the "norm"..more on that in a sec) failed induction and a C section (which meant our next two couldn't be late..they were planned sections).

During induction, our daughter wasn't too happy about the fetal monitor. She was very stubborn about it (she gets that from me) and every time the nurse would adjust the monitor..within MINUTES she was kicking her bloody legs off AT the monitor so it would move...which it did. Over and over again. Ultimately, since they couldn't track a reassuring heart rate, they decided to do the section.

Anyway, now back to your regularly scheduled AKL chat. :)

Oh, you're very welcome!

No, I didn't notice any smells at all. Not in our room, not in the 6th fl lounge, not anywhere.

Lets see..... They fed the animals between 4-5pm every day. Just before feeding time, the giraffes got the same kind of "look" my cats get when they know feeding time is near. One day, the truck came out, the giraffes ran towards it and pulled the food out. What a mess they made! Then they pulled out a can of somesort. It made a loud bang. The keepers got out and sort of tapped one on the nose! They had to eat from the ground that night instead of hanging from a tree.:lmao: A bongo got into a batch on dense grass and got a bunch stuck on his horns. He could not shake it off! It was to funny to watch!

I think your ticker looks Tig-riffic! ;) How does mine look? :lmao:

YOURS LOOKS GREAT TOO! I HOPE YOU HAVE AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TRIP. I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YOUR TRIP REPORT!!!

HI, we just change our ressies to AKL. Due to an accident a few months ago, that left me with a gimp arm, I've requested a HA room. I would prefer to have a roll in shower for safety as I can't grab for anything if I start to wobble. Does anyone know where these are located. My ressie's for a standard view (the only type available)

Thanks!

....I believe that only pool-view rooms can accomodate you....I would call AKL as soon as possible and explain your situation....GOOD LUCK!

Thanks Kimmar,

I was on hold for quite awhile, while the CM spoke with a special requests person. When he came back on, the CM said I was set for a HA. A pool view would be nice!

Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the travel channel. I put it on my calendar.
