We are staying club level Oct. 16th-21st.
We are excited!

I hope the construction isn't too bad by the pool...

Any more information on construction?

I am also interested in where the lounge will be located in Oct.

I have heard that hate lounge will remain in the presidential suite through December of this year. That could change with all of the ahead of schedule work being done. I know that's where it will be when we are there in a few weeks though (per the IPO).

Just had to share with all my fellow AKL devotees - since AKL captured us last year, DH and I keep talking about how much we love it and can't wait to go back. Well, now we'll be going back (hopefully!) for many years to come. We just got back from Woodfield Mall and bought into the AKL DVC. I personally love that I can still stay at the AKL since I love it there! DH is happy because now there is a chance he'll get that 5th floor pool room we had last year and liked so much!

We are hoping to stay a couple of days at AKL in Dec 2008. I called last week about reservations. We will be splitting our stay with WL(we love it there). We have never stayed at AKL and have 4 children who will be ages
7,6,4, and 2 when we travel. We were told that it would be difficult to get a room for 5 so best to get ajoining rooms but after reading parts of this thread I am thinking I would not be guaranteed that. Our children would not sleep in separate rooms no matter what it would be a nightmare. We are willing to get the 1 bedroom suite but would not be guaranteed a savanna view. Would it be worth it even if we got the pool view?

Also the sunrise safari is $55 for adults does anyone know how much it is for children?

The 1BR CL suites (not the DVC suites on the CL floor) are all savanna view but they look out over the sunset savanna which is heavily impacted by the construction. I have no firsthand knowledge but it is possible the animals from that savanna may have been moved away from that savanna. I personally do not like those suites and would request 2 "Connecting" CL rooms - on the CL, you are more likely to get your request and with 4 kids, you have an even better chance. You will have 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms, a much better set-up than a 1BR suite. You need connecting rooms (door in between), not adjoining (near each other) rooms!

For anyone who is interested, the Sunrise Safari breakfast will be held at Pizzafari during the Tusker rehab. No cold pizza though, I already asked.

For that 5th floor pool room...you'll want to book "Jambo House: Standard" for your room category...and then add the request to that for the specific room (though the number is likely to have changed....)

So far, the animals are still there (via a report from someone who was there about a week ago).

Kidani construction hasn't really started in earnest yet, so.....not sure if that will change. They're SAYING the animals are acclimated and won't move...but suffixing that with "the animals are our primary concern in this process and we won't hesitate to move them if their well being is impacted".

I was told that the Doorway to Dreams is already very successful and that Disney is considering putting more of these elsewhere around the county.

Thanks so much pilferk! I think that is one of the things that pushed DH over the edge - knowing he'd never get that room again. He may still not, but as long as he's in the general area or can request the area he'll be happy

My understanding from the diagram posted by LisaS, is that all standard view Jambo house DVC units are pool view. All of the rooms that face the parking lot are the smaller Value rooms.
