Nothing on the Sunrise Safari, but on crowds in the parks. Saturday is actually supposed to be a good day for MK as it is considered to be a travel day for most families. I would recommend to look at the official website of the Unofficial Guide (if you do a google search with the term "unofficial guide to walt disney world" including the quotation marks it comes up as first choice) where they have a great crowd calender which tells you which crowd level to expect each day and which park is recommended for each day. If you are considering buying Tourguide Mike, he has information like this too. We used both on our last trip and were very happy with both recommendations!

Thanks so much. I noticed the tour guide mike offers a discount for members. Does the unofficial guide?

I am really bummed about not having any more deluxe rooms because our whole family is coming in May 2008. I wanted them to experience what we did this past Summer. Pilferk helped me out with some questions a while back and I have one more-we would not even be able to stay concierge with 5 w/o 2 rooms, right?

Thanks

That's correct unless you get "lucky" enough to book one of the few DVC CL rooms on the 6th floor - I say lucky in quotes because all the savanna view rooms on the 6th floor have obstructed views. You are better off getting 2 rooms in my opinion.

Well......

You know how Disney LOVES to pull the rug out from under us all?

They did it again...and likley not many people noticed.

Here's the way it WAS set up:

All non-smoking standard concierge rooms on 4 were savannah view. All the smoking standard concierge rooms on 4 were pool view.

And Disney just decreed that ALL resort rooms are now non-smoking.

I'm sure you can guess what that means.

There are now, once again, some (though it's a much lower % than it was) non-savannah view standard concierge rooms.

:confused3

Can I ask whom you spoke with to get this information? :confused3 I'm staying Concierge in Aug. I spoke with one of the IPO planners (Dis rules forbids posting his name) just a couple weeks ago. He told me that all Concierge rooms were now Savannah view. The Pool Views had been reassigned to non-Concierge guests.

That's what I was told as well.

We just returned from our trip - had 2 standard CL rooms - got all my requests - connecting rooms with one room having bunk beds; Arusha Savannah; away from the construction. From talking to other standard room CL guests (there are still a few deluxe CL rooms left until they start working on the Kudu Trail side of the 5th floor), it seemed we were all in the same area and we all had Savanna view rooms on the 4th floor. All Kudu Trail rooms are Savanna view - some are Arusha and some are Sunset. Only pool view rooms would be on Zebra or Giraffe Trails and since the construction is directly above, I doubt any CL rooms would be there (heard the 4th floor was shutting down on that side anyway, which was why some people were being moved to other resorts). Our room had robes in it and we got turn-down service so I expect that they have certain rooms set aside for CL; otherwise it would get too complicated for Mousekeeping.

My family is staying at AKL December 1st-8th in two Savannah view rooms that are connected, do you think the construction will totally ruin our stay?

No, most of the interior construction should be done by then.

That's great news!

I spoke with someone "off the record" at IPO after hearing about the change through someone "off the record" at CRO....BUT this was right after the change to the smoking policy was announced. It wouldn't surprise me to hear they rethought that particular wrinkle in changing the smoking policy and reshuffled inventory. I'll check in via email and see what they say...

....* sigh * soooooo, here's the deal: how do I get my DH to take me to AKL for my 50th (just for a 3-or-4-day weekend  !) in September, but make it seems like HE thought of it...??!?!?:rolleyes1

Does anyone have pictures of view outside from standard view room??

...my DS and his GF stayed in a std room when we visited AKL last August....I don't know if she took any pix from their balcony....

I say just leave some pics of the food from Boma or Jiko lying around the house. They do say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!:)

Come on Kim, you must be able to outsmart the DH! You can do it! This can't be too difficult, can it? Just tell him about all the good "deals" what with free DDP, value season,........now all this is assuming that he remembers your birthday! Don't laugh, my DH forgot mine one year....and of course he will never live that down.;)

....he better NOT forget mine.....I got him 13th row tix to see Larry the Cable Guy at Radio City Hall back in January when HE turned 50.....

That's a good advice...Remember to include lots of the Zebra Domes.:rotfl:

....normally, I'd say that was a good idea, but he is on a gluten-free diet, so Zebra Domes don't 'do' anything for him....on the OTHER hand, they sure can put ME in a good mood!;)

Is there to be any construction going on the first week of December? And does anyone know what trail or area the construction will be at?

I just called today to see about that...my sis and I are staying there from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, and I wanted to know if it was too early to see whether or not we might be disturbed by construction noises. While the CM could not, of course, say this far in advance what would be happening then, she did say that if there was a chance we might be bothered then, that we would be called and offered the chance to move. HOWEVER, and this is the big thing, the place they might offer us to move to, she couldn't say. That will depend on what resort has the availability. I plan on keeping a check on the situation as the time nears. I want to be in control!!
