RachelTori: I like your positive attitude! I know we will be thrilled, we've never stayed there before! DS and DD think we are staying at POP so they will be psyched! I hope you are right about them holding back rooms, I keep calling, just in case anything opens up. It was weird, Friday there were plenty of rooms available and by Sunday they had nothing! CM's say it's because it's a popular resort. I'm going with your theory!

The DVC construction is going faster than they planned! How often do you hear that kind of good news about construction projects?!! :rotfl: Those rooms may not open up again in time for your stay, but the good news is: if you have a room booked, you can rest assured that it will not be impacted by the construction and the resort will definitely not feel crowded!

Make sure you and the kids visit the public viewing areas and spend time with the CMs out there. We've learned so much about the animals and their habitats that way. :thumbsup2

I'm booked with a pool view for August....I'm desperately trying to upgrade to Savanna but the whole resort is booked! Yikes!

Hope you will get the room you want, but if you don't, we absolutely loved our pool view room! The pool is gorgeous and I loved sitting on our balcony. There are so many viewing locations to see the Savannah, many with chairs to sit there, I am sure you will still have lots of fun checking these out!! And since you will save a lot of money staying in a pool view room, you can treat you all to something nice instead!!

Did I post this here yet?

...very kewl pic - is this at the AKL bus stop??

We had always gotten our AKL "fix" by eating at Boma and budgeting enough time to walk around the grounds to look at all the viewing areas, including walking to the ends of the halls and standing on the stairways! That is something you can do, and then you will have the best of both worlds as the WL is a magnificent place, too!

...what SHE said.....:teeth:

We just returned from out trip to SSR and AKL last week. We had a pool view room and we loved it! Yes, we have stayed here before and had a savannah view room, which was very cool. But our savannah view room happened to be at the end of one of the very l-o-n-g hallways. This was our third trip to AKL and our second time in a pool view room. We love that the room was close to the lobby and the "action". We loved that there was a short walk to an elevator that let us off right next to a door out to the Mara and poolside area. We loved always knowing how busy the pool was too!

Pool view room is not a bad view to get. You will love the Lodge!

Freakin out a lil bit here , folks. We are arriving on July 4 and alot of people are getting bumped around-some of which had a pool view like us. For the same days as us. What do I do?? Do I call and ask to change rooms/hotels? Do I wait for a call?? There arent too many pool view rooms, and it makes me nervous that they are already moving some people to other properties.:scared1:

I have been following this thread lately, and have a quick question. I just got a call a day or so ago from Disney, they said they were calling people who were booked at AKL to inform them of the construction and ask if they wanted to switch resorts. We have a standard savannah view room booked, and thinking that Dfi and I have our hearts set on staying here and we had been hearing okay reports about construction noise/disturbance (it is our honeymoon) I said that we did not want to switch, she said no problem and that was that. Now I am reading posts that those being contacted are those that will be affected by the construction. It has been unclear to me whther that is for concierge guests or all guests, I am wondering how they even know what room/savannah I would be on in 2 1/2 weeks etc. Did I make a mistake by not switching? I have heard so many times to "trust in Disney" to make things right for me, and I have been hoping that when the CM's see it is our honeymoon they will do their best to place us in a room with little disturbance. Can you all reassure me about this? Thanks

We have been back from our stay in AKL for a week now and i can honestly say that the construction didn't affect our stay at all. I weas in exactly the same position you are in now before we left but, i couldn't bear the thought of giving up AKL and then finding out that it all would have been ok!

I am so glad we made the decision not to switch. It really is a wonderful resort. The cast members worked hard to find us a room that was away from the construction and they did a great job. We ended up on Kudu trail which was the completely opposite end of the hotel from the building work.

I think as long as you can be a bit flexible with the view you want you will have no problems.

The problem is..... I don't think any of us know what to expect anymore! The construction is progressing way ahead of schedule and that's why so many guests are being moved. If you haven't received a phone call, that's probably a good sign that your visit will be fine. But I'm sure Disney doesn't want anyone stressing or freaking out about their upcoming trip - call them; don't wait to see if they call you. I'd call CRO first; I'd probably also call AKL and ask to speak with a Manager.

Please let us know how things turn out. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. :goodvibes

It's the canaopy where the cars drive to the entrance.

I bet this is just what you wanted to be worrying about as a bride to be! Yikes!

With all of these questions the only thing I would always remind yourselves is......
WDW wants you to be HAPPY!!!! They are going to make sure of it if you're not. Just make sure if you are NOT happy for any reason that you say so. We didn't like our view so we asked to be moved. They moved us. VERY WORST scenario IMHO is they will move you to another resort. That does upset you guys who are AKL addicts I'm sure but WDW doesn't have a bad deluxe resort out there so even though it could be upsetting and a bit of a hassle, to me, your in a win, win situation. Maybe it will force you to try a resort you never would have, maybe it is what was meant to be, maybe you can go back again and visit AKL in a future trip...
Don't misunderstand me either. I would be very stressed over all of this myself if I was going, in fact I was before my trip but I just kept reminding myself what I said above. WDW wants you to be happy!

My guess is the nightmares happening at WDW are far and few between. They seem to fix everything. IMHO
It's always magical in WDW!

Just thought I would share my opinion. I hope you don't mind.

All the pictures that are being posted on AKL are getting me excited.

I can't wait to spend December at AKV!

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion, that is exactly the outlook I am trying to have on the whole thing! If it is meant to be it will work out, and if not we will find something that does. Thanks, I needed that positive confirmation today!:grouphug:
