I am having the hardest time coming to terms with the fact that we won't be at AKL in 27 days. Instead, we'll be at the Boardwalk. I am really not excited about this trip at all because I want to be at AKL. Oh well, those pesky AP rates "forced" me to book at BWI. We'll be eating at Boma, though, so at least I'll get a few moments. Boy, I'll be so glad when it's December and I'm HOME again!

I really know just how you feel......Our last trip we wanted to go back to WL because we absolutely feel at home there, and the thought of not being able to stay there was unbearable, BUT....we got an exceptional deal at AKL which we could not get at WL. So, reluctantly we booked most of our stay at AKL, and two nights at WL @ rack rate. Well I bet you can guess what happened....YEP.... We LOVED AKL! So much so that nobody out of the 10 of us wanted to pack up and leave for WL for those last two days, but AKL was booked, and we had to go. Now don't get me wrong, we still LOVE WL also, and I'd go back there in a minute. BUt the point of my whole long story is that as much as you love AKL and wish you were going there, I'm betting that you are going to also go crazy for BWI! The lesson in this is......you can love more than one Disney resort because they are all so great! Have fun, I'm sure it's going to be a great trip!:thumbsup2

Just wanting to join this group. We are staying here for the first time in October and are very excited.

Welcome Ashbee!!!
Is this your first trip to the world, or first trip to AKL??

Ugh, I am so nervous with all this construction, I am in a wheelchair and can only use elevators, hopefully I can get to my room...should I email the club people?

Amycishere, I imagine you are staying concierge level. I would most certainly let them know your concerns. I know that Juanita, Don and Sue will be happy to note a request for a room with elevator access. If you have any accessable needs you might want to ask them where their disablity access rooms are located.

I am so envey all of you planning trips to AKL this year. I have a friend who is debating where to go on vacation. WDW is in the running. I am doing my best to help her. Don't be surprised if we have a new AKL CONVERT :cool1:

First trip to the Akl. We have been going to Disney world for the last two years so this is our yearly family vacation.

HEY!!! I hear ya ~ I'm planning for Feb. and I'll start seriously watching in Aug. and then on for any good deals!!! We've pretty much decided on the lodge for the beginning then switching over to the Poly for the end. Are your mom & sister going with you?? Oh, I wanted to ask you about the tea ~ my Dsis & family are coming and I'd like to do the tea with her. Any info would be great!!

How's the "puppy" ~ I'm sure way past the puppy stage!!!

My sister is thinking about coming, but my mom can't make it this time. Oh the tea is simply fabulous! I would highly recommend it. It is typically held in the late afternoon (like 2pm-4pmish) at the GF in the back of the lobby there is a lounge that overlooks the GF grounds called the Garden View (hence Garden View Tea).

They have a pretty decent menu and they bring you a box with the different teas in it so you can smell them ahead of time (you can have them iced or hot). I really like the nobo whole fruit the best. I have done the buckingham option many of times (tea sandwiches, scones, jam, pastries, and of course tea) and it is wonderful also the cheese platter is excellent. You could also order a cinderella slipper dessert for dessert as well.

Well the puppy is officially 1 now, but he still likes to pretend he is a puppy most of the time..much to my dismay!

PolyAddict thanks for the review
glewis1123 I hope you are having a fabulous time!
kimmar I wish I was lounging by that pool right now instead of doing this:laundy:
RachelTori thanks for sharing the pictures

Tig-girl I am so glad to hear that you like AKL better than WL. We've stayed at WL and love it- although I think my favorite might be the Beach Club because of location. In fact I was worried about staying at AKL because of its distance from things but you have comforted me a lot on that front. Can't wait to go!

Tig-girl, I am very glad you said this too. I am soliciting pixie dust from those who care. I finally convinced my DH to switch to AKL from WL and I called Sunday and yesterday and they said they have NO availability :sad2: :sad1: After reading your post, I will continue to try. I already tried to see availability on line this morning. I'm hoping they add the rooms after 7:00 est. and that maybe...just maybe I'll get one.

(I need a hug .)

Thank you very much, yes I am staying at the concierge level, I will let them know. A disabled room wasn't available but the special reservations department is going to make a few adaptions to my room.

:flower3: Thank you, I will continue to try. I figure they may just get me in there because they are sick of me calling. (I know, I know, but this is how I get through the day).

Your welcome! I actually am very happy that I knew about this thread and that there were people appreciating pictures of AKL. That made me take many more pictures than I otherwise would have!

I apologize if this has already been covered...
Do all AKL concierge rooms have Savannah/animal views?
Thanks!:)

Flossbolna,

Is that fog, or mist? Is it the morning or evening? It is amazing how you captured it. The mist/fog rolling over the water has a hot springs look to it. WOW.

The short answer is: sometimes. :)

Nothing is guarenteed, and the whole situation is sort of convoluted, and made more complicated by the recent smoking policy change. Here's the skinny:

The Deluxe Concierge rooms are about 50/50 Savannah-pool view. You can request Savannah view but...well...everyone does so it's still luck of the draw.

The Standard concierge rooms are MOSTLY Savannah view. In fact, the only standard concierge rooms that weren't (they were pool view) WERE smoking rooms. So you could guarentee yourself a savannah view standard concierge by requesting non-smoking. Now that ALL the rooms are non-smoking....well, I'm sure you see the problem. It's now luck of the draw again, but the odds are more in your favor at least.
