Sorry I don't have better pics. I use a small, low mega pixel (3.2 :headache:) camera which really doesn't cut it at AKL! :confused3

Thanks for posting the pictures, I liked them a lot, and think they are very good! I know the feeling of being disappointed with the pictures from the trip and found out that one reason might be that while the memory of AKL is still so fresh, the pictures just seem so pale in comparison to the real thing! You might change your feeling about them in a few months. That's what happened to me.

However, for anyone feeling unhappy with their pictures, I would recommend the photo tips articles by Frank Anzalone at mouseplanet to be found here:

One more group - these are from our balcony the morning we were leaving :sad1:

Thanks for the encouraging words! I think you may be right about that. I know an 'average' camera can't possibly capture the beauty of AKL!

I'm happy to share; glad you enjoyed them (even though I still think they're *not worthy*!! :rotfl2:)

What is the sunrise safari?

From Allears website:

"Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is available only to concierge guests on Sundays and Thursdays. You meet in the concierge lounge at 6:30 a.m., then departure from the lodge to Animal Kingdom is at 7:30 a.m. The tour, along the Kilimanjaro Safari ride path in Animal Kingdom, lasts about 45 minutes and includes multiple stops so that you can stand up and take pictures. Each of the animals along the way is described in great detail, since there is plenty of time.

After the Safari, you go to the Tusker House for a breakfast buffet, which includes both standard American and African items. Each person also gets a FastPass to Kilimanjaro Safari to experience it "the regular way".

Hours: Sundays and Thursdays, starting at 6:30 a.m.

Cost: Adults is $55.00 and for children (3-9) it is $27.50. NOTE: Park admission NOT included. A credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee the reservation (this number will be used as a guarantee only, as the safari is charged to your room the day of the event).

Reservations: This event can only be booked by contacting the Animal Kingdom Lodge Itinerary Planning Office. Note that there is a 48-hour cancellation policy. The safari can be booked 180 days out from the day of the event.
"

The location of the breakfast buffet will be changing as Tusker House is closing for refurbishment around 8/20 (it will re-open in November as a buffet restaurant).

Nice pool pic Kim.....and in just 3 months and 4 days, I should be frolicking in that very pool!!!!! Is it to early to start packing?:goodvibes

3 more days until I can make my ADR's....so excited!

I am having the hardest time coming to terms with the fact that we won't be at AKL in 27 days. Instead, we'll be at the Boardwalk. I am really not excited about this trip at all because I want to be at AKL. Oh well, those pesky AP rates "forced" me to book at BWI. We'll be eating at Boma, though, so at least I'll get a few moments. Boy, I'll be so glad when it's December and I'm HOME again!

Just got off the phone from making mine! :cool1: And I'm forcing my picky eaters to try Boma - I figure DH can always eat off the kids' buffet! :lmao: 180 days to go!

LOL...you tease, but...

As many of you know, our trip isn't until January. We've actually started packing some stuff already...the stuff we're buying NOW for the trip (Because sunscreen and larger sized bathing suits for the kids are tough to find in CT in JANUARY. :) ) to be exact.

I know...we're sick.

"Sick"? No way!!! Sounds perfectly normal to most of us!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone - checking in from our room at AKL - room #5237-Kudu Trail - awesome room great views.

The only construction noise I am hearing is when the sliding door is open - they are loading a/c units onto the roof with a crane. But don't hear a thing with door closed or at the pool.

5th floor Zebra trail is closed due to construction.

We are staying concierge level so getting to 6th floor is quite a walk. The stairwell between 5th floor and 6th floor is closed due to construction going on at the 6th floor stairwell area.

We have to take elevator down to 4th floor and walk towards the lobby area and walk around to the other side and take elevator up to 6th floor.

But all in all - it's just a great as it usually is

Just thought I'd let you all know

Thanks for the update! We leave on Saturday - I'm so anxious to get there!

Have fun!

Just returned last night from our 1st time at AKL. While it started out a little shakey, it turned out great!!! Our room was not ready until after 4. They "upgraded" us to a savannah view fifth floor very last room on Kudu Trail. The carpet was wet and the chemicals they used to clean it up was burning our eyes. We asked to be moved immediately. This room was scary at night, when you looked out the balcony all you could see was pure darkness. I was not very happy as I was travelling alone with 3 kids and very tired but could not bear to be in that room with the smell. We were moved to a standard room and were the very last room on the 3rd floor of giraffe trail. Loved the location of the room very close to the bus stop, pool and the Mara. Bus service was best of any WDW hotel I've stayed at, never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, averaging about 5. Never had time to see one animal or take any pics. These kids ran me ragged day and night. I am used to taking breaks, that didn't happen on this trip. My DD14 was making up for lost time. This was the 1st time since spine surgery that she could do the big rides, so she went nuts. Didn't hear a bit of construction noise. Anyone have any questions, ask away.
