I did go and try to verify my answer. The buildings on the Kudu and Zebra trails jut out on the fifth floor just a couple feet. In fact you can see it on Briar Rose's first picture.

I found a picture of the pool view rooms on the Giraffe trail and the building did not jut.

I see EXACTLY what you're talking about. Good eyes!

Don from AKL CL said in an e-mail yesterday that AKL CL would still be there but the rooms would be smaller. So, maybe DVC is taking over all the deluxe rooms.

I couldn't figure out what he meant by that statement but now it makes some sense.

Thank you for sharing this Floridafam. I do not like this idea of concierge rooms being smaller. When you pay the cost for a CL room you expect them to be a little extra nice, more room and amenities. From what I am reading I am very happy we are staying at AKL before they get started on all of this. I hope they make my favorite resort BETTER not just larger.

Thanks for the update Floridafam. It will be interesting to see what becomes of AKL CL and DVC in the lodge. I was hoping they would co-exist on the 5th floor; Kudo trail for DVC and half Zebra trail for CL.

I hope they dont make those nice 5th rooms smaller. My room was perfect for me. The standard savanah was real nice. The larger rooms would not be appropriate for just me since i travel solo. So when i booked the trip i just asked for savanah and Arusha trail. Price wise is was good for me . The other
ones would have made the total trip very pricey

AKL conceirge was going to be our choice for our next WDW trip (probably '08).

Not so sure that I am happy with the possible changes. I was looking forward to the large lounge overlooking the lobby.

I hope that they don't make a different lounge feel like an afterthought or make it small (more room like) like at some of the other deluxe CL lounges. I have read reports of other lounges that are small and closed in between food offerings. Sometimes I just need a place to escape to when I wake up early to plan the day!

Any thoughts?

I'm not so happy about it either, but that's what I heard - the rooms will be 4th floor which are a little bit smaller. I think 4 is the max in those rooms because there are no daybeds.

Been MIA for a while and just reading up on the DVC at AKL I am not so sure I like all the changes but we will see what it brings to the resort.

I'm pretty sure the voucher will suffice....and, if not and the desk raises a stink (which I doubt) you can always return to the front desk the next day to show them your shiny new AP.

I used a voucher to check in at AKL with no problem. This was in May 05.

We checked in at BC with an AP voucher in 8/06. They didn't ask us, but I have heard of others being asked to show their activated annual pass before checkout. Actually, we had a passholder rate this past trip at AKL, and I can't remember them checking for our APs at all. Of course, I was really tired at the time...

FYI, we weren't asked for AP @ CR last week to verify rate when we checked in.

I've been away @ the World , come back to find that CR is not the next batter up for DVC but, AK.

Since we've never sampled it's delights, we're unsold on the charms. Don't flame me, help me see the light!

We've been waiting to buy more DVC points. DH wants to know if we should spend our war chest on more BW or WL points in lieu of the CR. Really can't wait since they've cut down on the transfer policies, renting points is a pain. I'm thinking perhaps we should buy unseen (as we've done the last 2 times) but, nervous. Can't work in a trip before points will go on sale...what to do?

Couple issues:

Not keen on distance from MK...when we stay @ the AS resorts the bus ride would take @ least 1/2 hour.

Architectural style reminds me (a bit too much) of WL.

Pool seems huge...is it large enough to handle the # of guests @ resort?

This thread is full of experts, please tell me what you like best about the AKL, sell me

Lol the package came and it was rather small, not the size of a vase!
It was the magic express tags that Ups tried to deliver to me on on the 18th.
But heres the weird thing, i did not call Magic Express until last night! And the Ups sticker stated,''signature required'
For an envelope with luggage tags!

And of course they are unrelenting on changing delivery times but i must have been sprinkled with because it was delivered after 5pm which is the i wanted .

Somewhere theres a vase still down at the Akl!
