I was going to post this question in the main page for the Disney Resorts thread but I figured I would post it here and ask the AKL experts directly.

We will be staying at the AKL and I was wondering how late does Mara stay open?

We will be going to MGM and I would like to stay for Fantasmic and then return to the hotel and have dinner at Mara.

Will it still be open? If not, are there other dining options at AKL that will still be available?

Does anyone know the next time AKL is on the travel channel. I missed the last one because DH was having surgery and I cant find when that specific show/episode is coming back on. I am dying to watch it. TIA.

The AKL Great Hotels episode is not listed again on the schedule this month, but there's an Animal Kingdom special on Sept 21 from 10-11 pm Eastern or Sept 22 from 1-2 am. I caught it last time is aired and it was very interesting.

Okay - thanks for the advice on the room request - yesterday I was able to change our ressies to AKL and requested Zebra/Arusha. I'm so excited! Last time we stayed at AKL was 4 years ago w/a standard room, absolutely fell in love with the resort and now we're going back! We've planned an non-park day to stay at AKL...32 days to go!!

Jennz...you'll be there about the same time I will! I am going there for my honeymoon, which is in 33 days!!

...wow, 33 days left...it probably still seems so far away, but it is REALLY winding down very fast.....

The Mara is the best food court in my opinion. The African stew and chicken
pepper court were wonderful. Oh yes cant forget about those zebra domes!

My mom just called [from Puerto Rico] to tell me tht she has just come back from the hospital....yesterday, after my 91-y-o 'abuelita' ("lil' grandma") had showered and gotten dressed, she fell and [maybe] fractured her 2nd and 3rd cervical vertabrae(?)....it took almost an hour and a half for the ambulance to arrive! They whisked her to the hospital in Aguadilla, about 20 minutes away, and upon further testing, discovered that she MAY have had 1 or 2 heart attacks and that she has [possibly] an enlarged heart]....she was helicoptered to Rio Piedras (suburb of San Juan), where she is undergoing a battery of tests, but they must stabilize her heart before they can even work on her spine....I feel so helpless, being 1700 miles away, and my mom is an only child, so she has no siblings or father (my grandfather passed away over 10 years ago) to help her.....

The good news is she is still hanging in there, after waiting all that time for the ambulance etc... let us know when you get the next update.

Poor Grandma, to have to wait so long for help. I hope she isn't in too much pain and that she has a speedy and full recovery. As my husband's Italian Grandma used to say..."It's hell to get old!"
