We were just at AKL not just 15 minutes ago, and I proudly report nothing has changed, all is well and life is good. Unfortunately, we had to come home to our house in Celebration (aw, shucks) and could not stay, but the 8 PM drums were in place, Victoria Falls and Boma and Jiko were all thriving.

That is just mean!!!! ;) I wish I could live that close to Disney! You can go get a Zebra Dome just like going to the supermarket for anything else.

In fact, in the off season, the AKL often departs the lodge, then goes to the AK, then to its destination. This can take forever.

My questions is...is the highlighted area fact or fiction????

Oh PS I am wearing down DFi about going to Disney for our Honeymoon!!! He says only if we stay AKL or GF!!! So AKL it may be (maybe 1 night at GF). I'll keep ya posted!

I have never had that happen to me on the way somewhere. One time though last year I was one of the last people leaving Epcot and there were only a handful of us on the bus and they did pick up one family waiting to go to AK. So we did drop them off first and then went to AKL. I assumed it was because it was the end of the night (like after 10:30pm). I have stayed at AKL in October and never had that happen to me (getting on a bus for MK and then going to AK to get more people who want to go to MK). If they did that I think they would get a lot of complaints from people.

I hope you had domes for all of us and a victoria falls mist. I love the stepford part in your location :lmao:

Thanks for the great pics, goin2disneyagain!
I am trying to remain positive as Dad and Mom almost had panic attacks when I mentioned my sister's and my trip to WDW in 4 weeks today. Hopefully they will calm down and we can go. She has made tremendous progress this week so I am praying that it continues.

I'm sending extra PD your way so the speedy (and safe) recovery continues pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

OK 2 ?s about zebra domes. #1 - Do they only bring out zebra domes during certain nights at Bomas and 2 how much do they cost just to buy them and you can get them at the Mara right or is it at the Market?

I was there in January, and do not remember that the bus went to the AK first. We always took the appropriate bus for whatever park we were traveling to and took a direct route. We only had one day with a long wait and that was on a marathon day to Epcot. I think the problem was the marathon, and not AKL transportation because this was our only delay.

Now I have never stayed at the WL, but a friend was there at the same time, and wanted to visit us for the afternoon. It took her 1 1/2 hours to arrive because of transportation issues from the WL.

I hope that this helps.

I truly didn't want to make anyone jealous. I always tell the valet when asked if I am checking in that I cannot stay anymore cuz I live here! And it's so sad!So, I am jealous of you guys! I guess the grass is always greener. Every time I see a bell cart filled up with stuff, I say, "Oh, it's a happy day for some lucky family!" When I was dropping my son off at Simba's last night, he said, "Mommy, can we stay here some night so I can swim in the pool?" He is as bad as I am!!!

I can tell you one thing...burn out is not happening! My little boy and I are at the parks savoring his last few days of freedom before he returns to school. We have been in the habit of hoofing it (no pun) over to Rafiki's Planet Watch to watch the veterinary procedures in the mornings, and it is too cool.

Zebra domes are available every night during the buffet at Boma. I am not sure of the price, but you can buy a package of 4 at Mara. I know you can now use 1 snack credit to get these, so they have to be under $4.

What about those who aren't officially members of the Jambo WildBunch but still follow the thread daily, lurking in the shadows? I feel like I'm one of the Bunch but since I've never been to AK, AKL, or stayed on site, I don't have a lot to contribute. But that will all change in 2 months!! ;)

Yes, we're only 35 days until 10 days at AKL!!!

And I hope you all don't mind - I shamelessly "borrowed" the way cool AKL image?

I was wondering if you had a picture of the ride vehicle. I use a wheelchair and the modified truck/vans with the covered roof wouldn't give me the greatest view. But I understand they were going to start using more accessble vehicles this year. Seeing one would help assure me that this would work.

Sadly I have no picture of the vehicle. It is essentially a "stake bed" truck with sides that are made up of upright metal posts with wood "slats" mounted on them parallel to the ground. Each "slat" is approximately 4" wide with maybe 2" - 3" between them. I'm afraid it would be difficult to see between them as the benches are parallel to the sides and you would be set off from being able to "peer through them" very well. The sides are probably a good 4' high I would say.. maybe a little less.

No need to apologize! I may be jealous, but I think it is cool that you can just hop right over there! You can give us live updates everyday :thumbsup2 I don't think I would ever burn out on it either.

My dh works in constuction & asked me a few months ago what I thought about moving to Florida. Silly guy, what was he thinking  Of course I would love to move there & so would our sons! But after looking at housing, ect, we need to save alot of money before we even think about it. But the thought was nice & you just never know ;)

Hey Wendy...what is the African Stew? So happy for you that it is less than 40 days... :teeth:

Kimmar-your down to a couple of weeks??-way to go

Anyone else going with the next couple of weeks....

I've been off the boards trying to catch up on some stuff after a long weekend with some friends down Cape May, NJ-one of the NJ shore towns that inspired Disney's Boardwalk-lol :rotfl2:

I live outside Philadelphia and it is so blasted hot-which I'm sure is probably funny to some of you Southerners like Wendy-you know its that humidity that it killer even more than the heat...ironically DH always teases me that I don't notice it in Florida... :confused3 ... :rotfl2:

Well once again I missed the ZD's-I'll have to keep my eyes open tommorrow... :rolleyes1

Patricia

Hey Patricia!!!! I wondered where you've been!! The African Stew is soooooo good, it's meat, pot. veg's. african spices, etc...... they have it at Mara as well as Boma....... you gotta try it!!!

AND......... YES indeedy I know all about the HOT HUMID weather of South Louisiana....... and NOTHING compares to it, I mean going to Florida is like taking a break for us............ LOL It gets HOT and Steamy in Florida, but the humidity is the kicker here at "Tiger Stadium" :woohoo:

I'll just reset one side to 100 pixels.. the other will be smaller to preserve the aspect ratio but at least it will be the max allowed by the 100 x 100 spec.

Size = 100 x 66

File size is 18k, though. If it chokes on that, let me know and I'll try to optimize it a bit. Since it's getting so small, I tried not to compress anything from the original to preserve as much detail as possible.

Bob

Cool ~~ I'm just checking in today, haven't read through all the post....... but it's looking good so far!!! Does it work as an avatar now???

Thanks for fixing it!!! I couldn't figure it out, I kept making it so small, you couldn't read it!!! LOL

...I'm just gonna check with the 'Tecchies' to make sure it's sized properly...then, of course if Wendy permits, you guys can copy it onto your avatar..... :teeth: ...sound good, Wendy??

Sounds Great............ :thumbsup2 Anyone can use it!!!

Hey guys-I need a little help here :confused3 I'm posting my itinerary here since it includes so much down time at the AKL ;) and you all are so helpful :rolleyes1...ok I didn't know where else to turn so please grab a Zebra Dome and some coffee... :surfweb:

My DH laughs at me because I think I 'm really laid back but then I feel compelled to make a detailed WDW itinerary for our trip (He's the true type A in the house ...)...but I have learned so much for all the wonderful people on the Jambo site....

My family's trip is in December as many of you know (and if you didn't-the ticker is a give away) Most recently (3 years ago) we stayed at WL-loved it... but we are trying the AKL this time since I fell passionately in love with it..I had to sell my DH and DD since they are creatures of habit but now everyone is totally jazzed. We want to fully experience all AKL has to offer, activities, restaurants, animals, of course...no sunrise safari this time since we aren't staying concierge...but there is always next time

(Our cast of characters includes:
myself , dh , dd 12 and ds 4, (whose favorite Disney characters are Stitch, Pluto, Mickey and Donald).

I really want to take time at the hotel and enjoy it since there are a lot of activities they offer as so many of you have mentioned-culinary tour, cookie decorating, story telling, etc. I also want to include some "special events", ie character meals, tours, etc. so we aren't just theme park running...

So I have created the following tentative itinerary and I would be grateful for any feedback/suggestion, etc.

Day 1 Arrive AKL mid afternoon  , take culinary tour at 4, Have Dinner at Boma 5:40 and then just relax and explore resort

Day 2 MK at rope drop with Lunch at Tony's @12, A little afternoon R&R at AKL-maybe an activity or swimming? Raglan Road for Dinner and a little shopping at Disney's Marketplace

Day 3 Lilo and Stitch Best Friends Breakfast @8:10, monorail to GF to see holiday decorations and Gingerbread House. Monorail to Epcot World Showcase by 11-Child Friendly tour of WS. Late Lunch at Le Cellier @1:30, Finish WS-back to hotel for evening-maybe some storytelling AKL popcorn::

Day 4 Donald's Breakfast at AK @8:10-tour AK in morning -Back to AKL for cookie decorating at Boma @1:00  & relax . Back to AK for 3:30 Jolly Jingle Parade. Jiko for Dinner @ 6:00

Day 5 Epcot FW at drop-just Living Seas, Soarin, Spaceship, maybe TT. Lunch @ Coral Reef . Back to AKL-for a little R & R MVMCP :santa: @7, maybe dinner at Plaza 4:50 or Mara?

Day 6 MGM-lunch at Sci Fi, Fantasmic Dinner at Brown Derby then Osbourne Lights (This day is a little clumsy-doesn't make sense to go back to the hotel timewise.)

Day 7 Family Magic Tour at MK @9:45 till !2:30?) Back to AKL, Dinner at either AP or FF (still deciding & maybe carriage ride or Illuminations depending on dinner location...

Day 8 Breakfast at Boma and home....

Please feel free to offer suggestions or comments-I have gotten fabulous advice from everone already but if you can think of anything I might have missed... :smooth:
