So first let me just say we are NOT first time guests, not by a long shot. If this is your first Disney visit Jambo is not for you right now, nor is it maybe for all of Disney but I digress. If you are the kind of traveler who likes to shop and cook and you have a 1 or 2bdrm I basically think Jambo is paradise. I’ve spent more than an hour sitting in the lobby reading (Sunday afternoon) without seeing more than 10 people. We’ve been at the pool with just our family and maximum since we’ve been here maybe the most at the pool ever (Saturday afternoon) was 25 people (including lifeguards). One of the front desk people said it’s a little Disney meets distopia but I’m in love with this quiet resort where I feel like all of the Disney universe is revolving around me and my family. Sure there’s no food, but we did Sam’s at home and Publix when we got here- and yes the Jambo pool bar is open Friday/Saturday/Sunday of varying (but mostly 11-5) hours and kidani is a short walk/ shuttle ride away. So if you love quiet or have ever dreamed of having the flamingos all to yourself- go for it- if you need amenities- or love having your mug refilled or whatever- maybe try something else. We will be here through Saturday so if you have questions let me know!

I totally agree! We loved the time we spent there in late July. Of course, we did have a car with us so we were free to get what we needed when we needed it.

Is Kidani the same way? I'm looking at possibly doing a split stay there on our trip in a few weeks. Right now we are booked the whole week at Pop, however, I am thinking of splurging a little to stay a few nights at Kidani (Old Key West is also an option). Just not sure if it is worth it to us.

No; Kidani is fully booked up. Jambo is empty because all of the hotel rooms are empty. The shop and restaurants are all closed. Only the pool is open.
