It's The Magic That Can Happen When It's Autumn! - Animal Kingdom Lodge - Club Level

Here’s my cute Cath Kidston backpack I brought on this trip.

34086505564_d863abcb3e_c.jpg
So cute

We sat out on the balcony, OBV.

34119137823_a0de1700d9_b.jpg
Ugh why do you guys get the best views!

HA the kid behind you looks like he is so done with everything

It was raining but the animals were still out, so I sat on the balcony for a while
I feel like the Kilimanjaro Safari we did while it was raining had the most active animals I've seen!

Look how proud I was of myself LOL.
No regrets.
Hey, as long as you can still button your pants its a win!

First we headed over to The Seas to use our fastpass!
I hate the 2 tier system at Epcot :sad2:

I also spotted the coolest thing ever.

34086501334_144098280f_b.jpg
It IS the coolest!! I remember people were going nuts trying to find these last Christmas! They were sold out everywhere.

The ride didn’t recognise our photos for the whooole trip this year.
We were a bit disappointed because we always have a good giggle at that part and I like sharing our goofy pictures.
Awe, bummer! Being able to see our swiss cheese heads is a highlight of Spaceship Earth.

I didn’t take any pictures or videos, but I loved this!
I’m really glad they kept the soundtrack fairly similar to the old one.
The picture quality is great, it’s amazingly high definition, particularly the Eiffel Tower scene.
I really loved it too!!

I went back on the balcony and there were so many animals right outside.

34929649805_eb0389bc5c_b.jpg
Holy cannoli!

Then a large family were walking through in front of us all, and the kid at the front of the group, probably about 10 years old, saw it, picked it up, said,
“Someone’s shoe!”
THEN DROP KICKED IT ACROSS THE PATH.
It flew a few feet ahead of them, and they all just continued walking..!!!
The family of the shoe looked at each other in disbelief and were like,
“…was that the baby’s shoe…?!??!”

:rotfl:

We were all laughing in disbelief!
The shoe was RIGHT next to the wheel, and the baby…had one shoe on…
It was obviously his!
So weird!!
What the?? Because that's the first thing I think to do when I see a shoe on the ground :confused3

We had so much fun on Everest at night!!
I love this ride and it’s a lot more intense in the dark.
AHH, that's so exciting! We too have never been able to see AK after dark. We attempted to on our last trip but hurricane Matthew ruined that plan. Hopefully this year!!

So many great updates. I totally agree that riding Everest at night is the best. It feels like a different ride and seems to make it more intense.

So sorry you waited so long for a bus to Animal Kingdom. Especially staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you're so close you could walk and beat the buses.

I loved the Mean Girls gifs you were using in your intro so I decided to catch up and found more throughout. Any TR that has an affinity for the Plastics is a good TR in my book, whatever the case. Also, you and Jamie are quite the entertaining and adorable pair (hope that doesn't sound mega weird lol). Excited to read about more of your adventures! :)

I am so far behind so I just decided to like all your updates and comment on all of them in one go! So there!

This was 12:30pm back home, Disney mornings are easy when you're still on UK time :thumbsup2

It's the Disney nights on UK time that get ya!

After breakfast we went to The Mara to fill our mugs with water.
Jamie tested the lid by tipping his mug completely upside down,
And OBVIOUSLY water just flooded out all over the floor.
So yeah, that happened.
We grabbed some napkins, mopped up, and went to find the buses!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We got a spot near the front on the left hand side and waited for the Welcome Show!
One of my favourite things!

I never saw it! :sad1: And now it's gone! :charac2:

After swigging some water from our refillable mugs, we proceeded to a brand new attraction that you may not have heard of.

THE HAUNTED TARP.

34125481270_33e486e6ac_c.jpg

:scared1:
What a scary tarp.

That really is a scary tarp ::yes::
Not gonna, I still don't really get why they do this :confused3

Jamie found it amusing that everyone had died in a way that rhymed, and we started wondering how we would die here. :scratchin

Mine would obviously be by something in a quantity of 80 (80 HAUNTED TARPS), and Jamie… maybe by our friend Amy?!
Or maybe Hymie killed by something slimy :rotfl:
We even got a few other people around us discussing what theirs would be
(Tell me yours!)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Okay here are mine:

Here lies Lu,
She fell in the fondue.

Here lies Lu,
Brought down by a bad tattoo.

Here lies Lu,
Impaled on some bamboo.

Here lies Lu,
Shame she didn’t know kung-fu.

Here lies Lu,
Remember don’t drink shampoo.

Here lies Lu,
Who played the Kazoo.
Her lungs she did outdo,
And died a nice shade of blue!

Ah! So, so bad!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Well hello little Mr. Toad.
Hit by a car
And squished in the road.
Probably.

34125472140_d661db68b5_b.jpg

You are a poet and you were unaware of it!

And then… this guy…

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

When we sat down in the boat a Scottish family were seated behind us.
Jamie being
1) A master of many accents
and
2) Wildly inappropriate,
heard the family talking and started speaking in a really strong Scottish accent.
Like, kinda loud.
I kicked him to make him stop, and I was embarrassed in case they heard, but Jamie’s just like,

tumblr_n977l5hfjp1r3cqoco1_500.gif

(He actually does do this all the time :sad2:  )

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

But seriously who doesn't do this?! I find it really hard not to do a Essex accent when I hear one!

giphy.gif

I was really excited because Princess and the Frog is one of my favourite films and soundtracks!

:thumbsup2

After the show we went to use our first fastpass at Space Mountain!
I did a pretty good job of looking at the camera!
I think this is the only time I’ve ever half-managed it

33700635563_bf0610c579_b.jpg

tenor.gif

Space Mountain knocked me around a lot, but Jamie was fine.
He thinks I lack core strength so I just flop around

Okay now I'm just picturing you on Space Mountain like this :

tumblr_nc9t8l7HL71rq32tao1_500.gif

On the way out Jamie really wanted to get a picture in Zurg’s cage…
Unfortunately I had read prior to our trip that they’d added more bars!
But I didn’t tell him that right away…

I can only imagine they did this because someone had gotten stuck in there

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now it was 12pm – time for lunch!
We had a 12:10 ADR at Be Our Guest! Duh

1_rq57x_VRr_AGy_Uwpn_W8b_BIGQ.gif

Lunch was sooooo yummy.
This is such a good use of a quick service credit in my opinion.
Thanks Be Our Guest!
We’ll definitely be back, multiple times :thumbsup2

And thanks to Prince Adam for making Brer Bear feel okay about never wearing pants :thumbsup2

636115804701194599-666980108_tumblr_nopz7bJfPG1qhub34o1_500.gif

And on to our fastpass at Splash Mountain!

34125432200_d60776b235_b.jpg

My favourite ride in the whole of Disney!

34510927935_4ab867cecd_b.jpg

XWty06S.gif

YAAAY.
It was so great to be back!
I really am in my element on Splash Mountain.
Just thinking about it makes my heart so happy :goodvibes

But it's down FOR LIKE THREE MONTHS THIS YEAR!!!!

Zooey-Deschanel-6.gif

I'm so glad I'm going next September and not this September or I would be major P.O'd!

During the ride we heard the family in front of us planning to DAB for the photo.
So, without them knowing…

33700633733_08044c6907_c.jpg

tenor.gif

There were some serious rumbles of thunder while we waited for the bus.
Hurricane Hermine was on it’s way tonight!
It was set to hit a little further north of Orlando, but that didn’t stop my mum from worrying and telling me not to leave the hotel all night

tenor.gif

:laughing: Mothers. They worry! ::yes::

So here’s a little back-story as to how this DIS-meet (my first official/organised one) came about!
I’ve been following Karen’s (@dancingtodisney) trip reports – starring her sister Rachel (@RachelDoesDisney) – for a long time.
Karen wrote in her trip report that she’d bought the Cogsworth clock, and I told her I really wanted to get one to go with my Lumiere light!
BUT
I asked if it ticked, clocks that tick loudly really bug me, and I would be really annoyed if I spent a lot (I think it’s about $80?) on a clock, to just end up taking the batteries out

Karen then inboxed me telling me that the one she’d bought had a defect where the pendulum was knocking on the side making the standard ticking even louder, so Disney had sent her a brand new one.
So she offered me the faulty one – that makes a lovely ornament without the batteries – completely free of charge!!
What an absolute angel she is.
This was the perfect outcome for me – no ticking AND $80 still in my pocket!

:goodvibes Sounds like such a fun Dismeet!

Hopefully we’ll cross paths again sometime :goodvibes

34510906085_e6c0174896_c.jpg

:disrocks:

We both got pulled over for a security check, and I walked through the scanner with my camera in my hand HAHA what an idiot.
Obviously I beeped and had to do it again.
Sorry that my camera is basically an extension of me at this point.

Then the security guy said to both of us - totally deadpan,
“please move back behind the blue line”
So we were both shuffling back,
And back,
And back,

He smirked.
There was no blue line.
LOL.
Well played, security guy.

:thumbsup2

I stopped to quickly get a picture of the train station.
I angled it right,
Adjusted the zoom,
Adjusted the lighting,
3, 2, 1…

33668648304_0bb2c6e294_b.jpg

:rotfl:

Equal parts :scared1: and :rotfl:

Dessert was the campfire brownie!
It has melted marshmallow on top!

33668640684_88dbfc528a_b.jpg

That looks soooo good! And that marshmellow looks so squishy and soft...

tumblr_mhp8wzKKYb1r90z96o1_400.gif

We wanted to let our food settle, so the PeopleMover was really the only option.

Obvs

On the way over, I saw this on my phone…

33700629703_a73d2d945e_b.jpg

“Take shelter now.”
QUICK – TO THE PEOPLEMOVER.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It was SO. BAD.
The Magic Kingdom was flooding!

But unbeknownst to me, this would be the last time I ever stopped to watch the full show!

I thought they would have something new for the 50th anniversary in 2021, but didn’t know it would change so soon.
I guess I took it for granted, and figured I would always see it some other time.
Anyway, Wishes had it’s last show on May 11th 2017!

So now we need a Fuller House Club trip to the Full House house! Right @TheLittleKatie @Leshaface and @HomeSweetDisney

I had three breakfasts holy cow.
But we had no ADRs booked today so I may as well make the most of the club food.
(Now I’m engaging in some serious mental gymnastics to justify eating three breakfasts.)

The CMs must’ve thought I was insane going to the lounge four times in one morning
Whatever, all those plates of food were clearly for me and my husband and my two children, DON’T JUDGE.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Look how proud I was of myself LOL.
No regrets.

Here’s my cute Cath Kidston backpack I brought on this trip.

34086505564_d863abcb3e_c.jpg

So cute!

We rode the ride and joined the manatee show!

I’ve managed to document their weight gain over the past few years!

Sept 2014: 1423 / 1515
Sept 2015: 1492 / 1600
Sept 2016: 1520 / 1617

34086504074_53e7077e49_b.jpg

Almost as heavy as we were after 3 weeks of club level and dining plan.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was kinda sad because I couldn’t find my favourite ugly fish anywhere. :sad2:

Jamie asked what it was called and I said
“I don’t know but it’s really ugly and miserable”
And he said,
“No wonder it’s your favourite.”

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

:rotfl2:

Then we headed out of the Seas, throwing some shade back at condescending seahorse on the way.

It had now stopped raining so we’d taken our ponchos off.
But it was still really windy from storm Hermine, so we walked past the Fountains of Nations like:

hair10_0.gif

The struggle is real ::yes::

Unfortunately he doesn’t think my 90s yellow ponchos are very stylish :sad2:

:sad2:

Epcot was absolutely DESERTED today.
This was 1pm on the Friday of Labor Day weekend!

Ah that Sven!

I’m over the fact that Maelstrom is no more, although I do miss this guy.

RIP crazy fish gutting kid.

After posting the American flag on snapchat yesterday, people were so confused about where I actually was!

34765800082_7983554b99_c.jpg

Love that you felt the need to circle the giraffe

We waited almost an hour for a bus

:sad2:

While we were watching, a toddler in the stroller next to us dropped his shoe on the floor. It was basically touching the wheel of the stroller, it wasn’t like he’d kicked it into the middle of the path or anything.

So weird!!

That is all kinds of weird!

Vape Nation!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When we got to the bus stop, the enthusiastic family who had been waiting almost an hour with us earlier were at the front again!
They saw us and shouted down the line,
“DON’T JYNX US!!!”
A few minutes later a bus looked like it was pulling into our stop, but it veered off at the last minute, and the family yelled at us,
“LEAVE! GET OUT OF THE LINE!!!”

:rotfl:
It was so funny, we were all laughing so much.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay well I just totally cluttered up your TR!

latest

I'm loving your report so far. I would love to know how you felt about AKL. We really were thinking of staying there or Beach Club on our next visit, but the bus has me worried.

(For background, this scene is the final dinner of the school year where Dumbledore awards the house cup. THE GREAT HALL IS DECKED OUT IN SLYTHERIN DÉCOR WHEN THEY ENTER.)

“THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED AGAINST US!!!!”
:rotfl:

This made me LOL. The system IS RIGGED! Proud Slytherin over here :wave2:

Hi Katie! Loving your new report so far! So glad I finally logged back into the DIS so I can catch up on your adventures. Love, love, love, AKL! It is our favorite and the one we call "home" for DVC. Club level there is very sought after, and now I know why. That spread! YUM AND WOW! :)

Coming out of lurkdom to finally comment on your trip report. I've read a couple of your trip reports, and they're always so fun to read! Love all the pictures of AKL. I would love to be able to stay there one day.

Finally we arrived at 8:30pm.
This was probably our first time in Animal Kingdom past about 4pm!
I absolutely LOVE AK after dark! The atmosphere is amazing. I can't wait to see Pandora this fall at night too!
And I agree Everest is way more intense at night. I am pretty sure I was the slightest bit nervous when we were climbing the "hill" on my first ride in the dark.

"When we got off the moving walkway to exit the PeopleMover, a lady called Kara (Cara?) recognized us from the DIS!!!
So we stopped for a chat!
It was so nice to meet you Kara! :goodvibes "

Hi Katie!!! I'm Kara! The crazy lady who stopped you while you were getting off the Peoplemover.:yay: I saw your new report come up on the boards and remembered how much I enjoyed your last one, so I started reading along. Imagine my surprise when I saw myself mentioned in your trip report! It was great to meet you & Jaime, thanks for the chat that day!

Yay thanks for reading! I'm glad you are excited about Happily Ever After, I was really sad at first but once I saw the livestream on the first night I was hooked straight away! I hope you get to take a trip with your son, you should write a TR!
Maybe one day I will. We are going out to Disneyland in August. Work is paying for some of that trip. I really want to write one up but never get around to it. Maybe I'll keep some notes this year. We want to become AP holders this year. My fingers are crossed. I would love to go more often.

Jambo! Just joining in on the magical fun. AKL is one of my favorite hotels besides the Polynesian and Contemporary. I always get the Savannah view because the view is priceless. On my last trip with my mom we actually got a Savannah view + the top of Expedition Everest. Can't wait to read more about your trip! Kwaherini.

Great Report. Our family loves AKL (stayed there the last 3 trips). Have not experienced Animal Kingdom at night - looking forward to it next August (although that is over a year away).

Keep up the great work.

WAIT you just got back from another trip??! Notify me if/when you start a TR, so that I can read from the beginning please

That solo trip was the TR you are in, silly!

But I will be starting another TR soon.
Just have to finish the current one.
Have a couple of chapters about Vegas to toss on there.

East coast as innnn... Disneyland..?!?

That's west coast, dear.
And that was in March.

And where is your road trip to? Wowee you have an eventful year!

It was.... well, how about you read the TR? (When I get to it! have to write about Phoenix, Disneyland and Halifax first!)
