Hi,
We've stayed at Kidani a couple of times but never Jambo House,Can someone please walk us thru Jambo and rooms to request?

First of all, I hope you know the rooms at Jambo are a bit different from those at Kidani. If you've grown fond of the extra bathroom in the Kidani 1BR, you might be disappointed in the single bathroom at Jambo. Jambo DVC rooms are only on the 5th floor, or on the 4th and 5th floors (sorry, I should know that, but not sure about 4th). If you could somehow swing it to get one of the few DVC Club Level rooms at Jambo, it's a great experience and your room will be on the 6th floor above the main lobby (CL access is outstanding at Jambo, and can save lots on breakfasts and snacks during your stay!). If you request a room closer to the lobby, you'll be an easy elevator ride from the lobby, restaurants, shop, and the pool. Hope that might give you a little more info than you had before.....

I won’t book Jambo 1BR again, even if only 2 of us and most definitely not if more than 2. The bathroom is across a hallway from the bedroom, so anyone crossing between them is clearly visible from the living room. And instead of separate shower and tub there’s a tub/shower combination, with sides so tall and rim so wide it’s difficult for this old lady to get in and out of. Too high and wide to step over, and I don’t like sitting on the cold rim to swing legs across!

OK, I'm going to rewind a bit! We've stayed in DVC AKL-J many times and we love it there. The rooms are very nice, and Jambo is close to some of the best restaurants on Disney property, an amazing pool, the animals, etc. I would never hesitate recommending it to someone to stay there.

My point was when comparing it to Kidani, there might be things you'll like better in the Kidani rooms - like the slightly bigger rooms, the extra bathroom, etc. Some folks don't like the longer walk from Kidani to Jambo for Boma, Jiko, The Mara, etc. Others like the rooms and the under-resort parking there, along with easy access to Sanaa! There are pros and cons to both - we stay often and have a 50-50 split between the 2 sides over the years. It's just that Jambo was sort of refurbed to change regular cash resort rooms over to the DVC room layouts, while Kidani was DVC from the beginning, and they had an open canvass to design them with some things they couldn't do at Jambo - just my opinion.

I prefer Jambo personally because I love the lobby especially when we go during the holidays & can see the huge Christmas tree from the sky bridge to & from our villa. When I have savanna view I like to mix it up & ask for zebra trail which puts me on either Arusha savanna or Uzima savanna rather than Sunset savanna which most of Kidani savanna views overlook & at Jambo there’s no risk of ending up on the very small Pembe savanna which can happen at Kidani. I like Sunset savanna (which is the largest of the 4 savannas) but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up & see different animals on the other savannas.
All of Jambo’s villas are on the 5th floor except for the club villas which are on the 6th floor.
If you have savanna view booked then Zebra trail is a nice request - it’s on the side of the resort w/ the elevators down to the Mara & the pool & also the same side as Boma, Jiko, & the store.

Jambo house is our preference. Of course the lobby is amazing and the pool at Jambo is beautiful. The Mara is our favorite resort quick service on property. Make sure you get a Nyala brownie from there if you like peanut butter. It's yummy! As far as room requests, I don't know what view you have, but I would likely request close to lobby.

We were able to get a std view my wife daughter and her fiancé.It was last minute and the 2nd week of Sept. Beggars can't be choosey.

I’m a point mizer so I almost always have standard view at AKV. I just looked up the locations of the standard view one-bedrooms at Jambo. Pool view would be my request.

Jambo 1BR is about 100 sq ft smaller than Kidani's 1BR and lacks the second bathroom. The master bath is divided by a hallway from the bedroom and thus those in the living can see persons going from the bedroom to the bathroom. Like Kidani, it has the twin -size pull-out chair in the living room. The closet for the bedroom is not built into the wall like Kidani but is a standalone furniture, and overall there is less closet space in the room than Kidani. If you have a car, parking is not under the building like Kidani, but instead in a large lot across the road from the front of the building. Its worst feature is that it does not have a separate tub and shower in the bathroom like Kidani, but instead a single combined tub/shower that has a high and wide entry side, making it difficult to enter for many seniors and others with any leg problems.

Jambo's advantages are the larger-than-Kidani pool, which has many shaded areas near the pool; (b) the larger lobby and store and three restaurants to Kidani's one, and (c) more than half the standard view rooms have savanna view (the rest have pool view). See this map for location of standard view rooms G2qaSva.png. If desire is to get a standard with savanna view, best request to make is for a room on the Kudo Trail side (left side in the map) of the building because all standards on that side have a Sunset Savanna view.

Good advice I just contacted MS with my request.
