I'm wondering what the standard 1 bedroom views are at Jambo, and if it makes sense to get one of those rather than the savanna view. I currently have the savanna view booked for DS and his fiance for their honeymoon in November, but they plan to go to a park every day of their visit. It was more points than I was hoping to use, since DH and I would like to take a trip in the next year, also.

But I want my kids to have the "wow" factor on their honeymoon, but is it necessary?? I know you can see animals around besides the balcony. I was also hoping they would like a studio, but DS requested the 1 bedroom so they would have washer/dryer and kitchen (they are coming from CA).

I love the standard view at Jambo. The worst view is looking at that beautiful pool. They might get a reclassified savannah anyway. We got one once and loved it. If I were not spending much time in the room I would not use the extra points for savannah. We recently had a visit where we saw animals every night the first several nights and then literally saw none at night the last 3 nights.

Thanks! Maybe I will change the reservation. I just don't want to feel guilty.

DD and I had a savanna studio for 2 nights last year and we were put in a corner unit and saw animals, like donkeys, not zebras or giraffes like I was hoping, but we didn't go to the parks that trip (Princess Half trip).

I wouldn't feel guilty at all! I think that is incredibly gracious of you to give them lodging for their honeymoon! And a one bedroom instead of a studio - on Disney property - seems like "wow" accomodations to me!

(I know this sounds ridiculous but when I got married 18 years ago newlyweds usually paid for their own honeymoons...so this sounds amazing to me!)

As a side note we are booked at a Jambo standard one bedroom this fall for the first time and I am super excited to hear that the view should be decent!

Thanks!! :goodvibes I changed the reservation today. I feel better about the points I'm using.

Now I'm thinking about how I'm going to use our points for a trip for DH and myself! :-)

Enjoy your trip!!

I think I might go for the one bedroom at KV instead of JH because of the nicer bathroom (big shower and jetted tub for two). Get the standard view and save the points.

And if you want to do something really special for their honeymoon besides a Standard villa, pay for the Wanyama Safari for them. They get to ride on the AKV/AKL savanna for 1.5 hours with some guides, then a marvelous dinner at Jiko with the other people on the safari. (And an appetizer before the safari, too).

Really? Should I switch to Kidani? I thought it had the "quieter" pool, and I've only stayed at Jambo. I thought it was beautiful, near Mara, not crazy hallways,...but second stop for the bus (and they won't have a car).

The safari sounds great! But, we got them park tickets, too, so I think we're good. :) I may get them a Disney gift card for food, but we'll see how much our share of the wedding ends up costing us!

Btw, this is my 3rd child getting married since August! We had one in Canada in August and another in CO in October! It's been a crazy and wonderful year. This is the only child who has a spouse-to-be who loves Disney as much as we do! I still have one more kid in college ...still single!

(luckily, all weddings were not extravagant and each couple pitched in, too)
