Jamaica or Tortola Itineraries? Decisions. Decisions.

Trying to decide between two different Fantasy 7-day itineraries for January or February 2017. One itinerary includes Jamaica. One includes Tortola, Virgin Islands. This would be my husband and I's 4th cruise in the Caribbean on the Fantasy, and we've basically visited all the other ports the ship docks at except for these two.

The Jamaica itinerary means one less at sea day. I see this as a bit of a "con" because truthfully I love the sea days. But maybe Jamaica is awesome and worth it?

Knowing nothing about these ports and the excursions, can anyone give some personal anecdotes or recommendations on picking one over the other? The husband and I usually get off the ship and enjoy snorkeling, touring, and the beach. We're not big on hiking or scuba diving or anything.

In my opinion, Falmouth Jamaica is not awesome. Inside the port fence is fine. Outside the fence...never again.

OM Tortola all the way!! I've been to both and I didn't care for Jamaica. As PlutoJudy stated outside the fence, never! Of course we went on a honeymoon cruise and I was young and it scared me when the taxi drivers came up to me, grabbed my arm and started pulling me to their cabs, while someone else was doing the same to DH. That was enough for me, back to the ship we went.

Tortola is beautiful! We went there on a cruise too and always wanted to just go back for a vacation.

We just booked one with Tortola but I will miss Jamaica. There was not one available for when we were going. We loved Jamaica albeit it I can see where some may not like it. We booked a private tour bus with Liberty tours to see Blue Hole and eat a Jamaican open air restaurant for jerk chicken. They met us early morning and drove us straight out of Falmouth so I do not know much about that but the tour was fantastic!

We are excited to try something new in Tortola but St Thomas does nothing for me.

Well...good to know. Seems Tortola is the way to go here.
