I just read about this (in the comment section of ‘7 things cruisers get wrong about Banned items on a cruise’ video by life well cruised cruise). We went on the Fantasy western Caribbean last year but due to the level 3 warning we didn’t get off the ship at Jamaica.

Looks like they make you change for the most part. We usually don’t have backpacks with a camo print but do own shorts/cargo pants. Wish there was some warning or announcement the night before.

Well at least all can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the revolution won’t start on a cruise ship.

Simple google of what can you not wear in Jamaica shows that.

I guess I'm weird, but I look up things like that before going somewhere new for the first time. I'd never depend on someone else to tell me.

It’s not my first cruise and we’ve been to Nassau as well. Otherwise it’s Western or Eastern Caribbean and I never heard of this. We just happened to not wear any Camo on those days. Kids now have multiple Camo clothing (thanks Jurassic World) and so do I, although it’s more black and blended (not green; definitely can’t be mistaken for anything military).

I’ve seen multiple cruise ship vlogs and port adventures vlogs and I never heard anyone mention this (Tim Tracker, Paging Mr Morrow, Allears, Kyle Pallo, JoJo etc). Watched Jamaica Bobsled and other excursion videos last year. We are only on our 4th cruise so maybe it’s a well known fact by more regular cruisers but we didn’t know. With young kids (we have 3) maybe we missed the announcement in the evening or during afternoon nap time (we usually can’t hear what’s being said in the hallway inside the room.

In any case, apparently they just make you change and someone commented that the crisis ship passport inspectors won’t allow you to get off the ship without changing if it’s an issue, so shouldn’t be a big deal.

Thanks for all the replies!

Truth, and this is just my mind working, even though I presently don't own any camo stuff (I did when I was younger as a tween/teen as it was popular then) I would automatically not bring it with me when traveling regardless of whether any country has an official ruling or not. That is because camo is frequently used by military and the not so kind like. I'm just avoiding any possible legal OR understood no no for that one in particular.

But I also try to not bring local logo'd stuff as well with me while traveling (my husband is less caring about this one); this one obviously has much lower possible consequences and is just about reducing high visibility of a specific area. I did bring with me logo'd (in this case meaning sports team or school alumni) stuff while on the cruise but only wore it on the cruise (eta: cruise ship itself and it was while at sea), my husband again is less caring about that.

With all due respect I think that might be the issue with relying on cruise vlogs, travel vlogs and those kinds of things for primary advice. I think they are great for showing if a place would hold interest for you or for some helpful hints or tricks but no amount of "I saw it on youtube" is going to get you out of any mess you might get in (even if that mess is not of the legal track) which goes without saying (I'm not trying to be patronizing here).

With respect to the bold you do not need to be a seasoned traveler. I just mean this part in general. It's impossible to know everything there is out there about every place you are going but it's not a case of being seasoned or not.

We did our honeymoon at a Sandals in St. Lucia in 2013 and we stayed for a bit over a week in Jamaica in 2018 and I mention that because you said you're "only" on your 4th cruise. Being new or being seasoned doesn't mean you're more or less likely to know about the legality of camo in a specific area.

Our logos are mostly Disney related and we never wear offensive clothing.

The Camo clothing is mostly union bay cargo capris and it’s hard to find cotton blends that fit the active mom body (3 kids-full term one with polyhydroaminos causing abdominal wall separation!).

I did find out about the clothing through comments on a Vlog and not through Disney, so it was helpful or I wouldn’t know otherwise. But will be researching better in the future.

At least I know over the door hooks are banned on Disney cruise ships, although I do see vloggers packing them (still found the video helpful for other tips)

I'm always amused by those that wear camo as regular day wear. Who are they trying to hide (unsuccessfully) from?

It's difficult for the locals to decern if an American woman wearing pink lady's camo pants might be a revolutionary!
