Jakob's Pre Make-A-Wish Trip ( Big Give Photos 3/13/09)

Add me to the cryer list! That was the greatest reaction to a gift I've ever seen! He is one sweet little boy!

Thank you for those that looked at Jake's video...:rotfl: Of course we laugh now cause, well that is just Jake. This is what happens when "anything" Disney is put in front of him.

My sister got him the Disney World 2009 Kids book and he has yet to put it down...:rotfl: I think he has the whole book memorized now.

We will not tell him until tomorrow afternoon that the MAW volunteers will be coming tomorrow night...He is going to be SOO excitied...I hope to get some pictures posted, as my husband just bought me a new camera for x-mas.

Again thanks for reading....princess:

how precious!!! I finally have a computer that has sound, so I got to watch it!!! :)

I hope you video his interaction with his Wish Volunteers! That will be fun.

So he knows he is going to Disney?? Or is that still a surprise?

How awesome!

Yes Jake knows he going to Disney ( so we hope right, until they come back and saw we are approved)

Our volunteers came last night, they are both just WONDERFUL. I think myself and my husband held back tears when they came to our door. I told myself not to cry, and when I looked at dh, you can see his eyes welling up too. We are just so greatful that you can not help but want to cry.

They brought Hannah and Jake tons of gifts, from the Wall-E movie, to a Hannah Montana DVD board game, Cars backpack and the list the goes on.

They talk to Jake for sometime and than it got down to what his wish would be, and said, " I wish to go Disney World"...and he had his fingers crossed and eyes closed when he said that...:rotfl: It was so sweet.

Of course they had to ask Jake about a second wish if they first one for some reason would not work, he looked at them confused, and one of them said " say you can't go to Disney cause they have to close for awhile", he than said " Disney never closes"....:rotfl: :rotfl: But he finally said Disneyland. But they reasured him that the chances are very good that he will get to go to Disney.

So we gave them our dates for March 28-April 4th, and the second set was March 21-March 28th. We know it is close, but from April on, we can not go due to extreme heat down there, so we would have to wait until Sept or Oct of next year. Which will be fine if they come back saying those two March dates will not work. When the whole MAW started, it was back in Oct, so we hoping to do this for Jake's b-day ( Jan 28th) but it took sometime for them to move things along, so hopefully those dates will be ok.

They told us they were going to put a rush on this wish due to the dates, and because if MAW does not approve my sister to go with us ( for helping with Jake's medical stuff) than we have to get her set to go with us, but on our own. Making sure she can take the same flight as us and all. So hopefully we will hear something in the next couple of weeks, mainly due to the buying of a plane ticket for her not at the last min.

So I will be updating as more comes rolling in. Thanks so much for reading our pre trip report.:cool1:

Can i just say i love your son? his reaction to the tickets is priceless. i would love to see his face when he actually gets on the monorail and sees the castle. he is tooooo sweet

Thank you...yeah I am sure he will be speechless and I know myself and my husband will not be able to hold back the tears...I bet will cry too...who would have ever thought that a place like Disney World can make not only little kids cry, but adults too. Truly is amazing.

My husband just made a great update on Jake's CB about our wish granters.

I bet your Wish Volunteers just LOVED him!

crossing his little fingers...how sweet!!

I hope they didn't scare him with the "2nd wish" deal.

The only thing I would think might take a little longer is approving your sister to go? And March is pretty crowded, but it won't matter, because you will have THE BUTTON!! :)

But...IF you have to go in Sept/October...then you will have fun, then, too!! I might be there in October! AND they have the MNSSHP...which is SO MUCH FUN!! (It gave us some "extra" Disney time, too!)

Let us know your dates! When ya get em. :) And I will add them to the link on the Wish Trippers thread.

I have been waiting to hear about your meeting. I love it! I hope your dates are able to come thru!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Our wish granters just called at said that Jake was approved for his Disney Wish and we will be going March 28th- April 3rd....

He said he was so shocked cause he has never had a wish be approved so fast before....Ohh now I just can not wait to tell Jake when he gets home from school.

On a side note, they would approve my sister if she was an RN or a PCA ( I have a Jr in High School as our PCA, but she does not touch any of Jake's TPN or line, she just helps with his tube feeds). So right now she is just go to look thru her money situation to see if she can even it, and if not, than I think we can handle it on our own...:upsidedow

So we won't see them again until sometime in March when they bring us all the information...OHHH I almost want to run down to the school and go tell him...think his teacher will be ok if I did that...:rotfl:

WOW...everything is really coming together...not only is my sister coming ( she is paying her way, but still I so need the extra hands), but we are also going to fly out Jake and Hannah brother ( my husband son) from CA to spend the week with us. MAW just needs some paperwork and he too will be able to stay with us ( we will pay his way).

This neat cause our oldest has lived with us since he was three, he is now 15 years old. He wanted to move to his mom's in CA last year to try it out there, which is fine, but he was unable to come back to visit this summer cause Jake spent most of it in the hospital, just was not a good time. So now he gets to join the family again in Jake's special trip....:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Jake is just so happy that his brother is coming now...pirate:

Poor Jake, has been back in the hospital since Friday...:guilty: He is finally feeling somewhat better, but we hope to take him home later today...I will say out of all the hospital stays, this one was the hardest, but with the talk of Disney, Jake seemed to be able to get thru these last couple of days ok whenever we mentioned Disney...so I guess having something to look forward too, such as his Disney trip, has helped....

I just dont know where I have been living the past month, iI must have been living in a hole because I have only today found this Wish Pre-trip report:scared1:

So, I am jumping onboard, if somewhat late.
I cant wait to hear more about all your planning and everything.

I cant look at the YouTube video today (bandwidth limitations = none left) but I will take a look tomorrow :)

Love
Mandy

Bless his heart! I am so glad that he has something he can look forward to! That is part of the fun...planning...looking forward to it! I wish I could go back to those days...although re-living the trip is pretty fun, too! That is where writing the TR comes in! :goodvibes

Keep us posted on Jake! :)

Thank you...Jake is home from the hospital... He is feeling better, not getting sick anymore, but still have belly pain. I hope things will get better as the week goes by.

I can't help but worry about Jake getting sick when we are down there...:guilty: I know I should not, but I do...:confused3 His Dr tells me that we will be fine and even if he did get sick, he will still be having a good time...hmmm, not sure if he was sitting in a Orlando hospital he would be having a good time, know Disney was right around the cornor...OK now to think positive thoughts:wizard:

Our wish people told us they will be getting our flights this week...:cool1: I am so excitied..anyone want to guess what Jake is watching right now...popcorn::

Modern Marvels " the inside look into how Disney world was made"...:rotfl2:

Our flights are booked. We leave Boston at 11am on March 28th on Delta and arrive in Orlando at 2:15pm

We leave on April 3rd from Orlando at 3pm.....excuse me while I scream for excitiment for a min...:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Couple of questions, one has anyone flown Delta down to Disney on their MAW trip? I saw there were fees for checked bags, how much do per bag? Also when you arrive at GKTW that late in the afternoon, what do you, go to walmart, hang out at GKTW for the rest of the night after the orientation and than start the next day with the parks?

Also since we have to leave GKTW at 11am on the day we leave, did anyone go to Downtown Disney before going to the airport? I know it is free there, so just wondering how everyone else did.

OMG it is soo real now....:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Delta at the moment is $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second checked bag. MAW would probably allow for this charge in your expenses.

We will get to GKTW at around 2.30pm/3pm (land at 1.10pm) and we plan to take advantage of the Village for the rest of that day. Orientation is in the evening so you cant really go too far afield.

Home day and checkout at 11am. We are going to have to leave pretty early on this day so the home day activities doesnt apply to us but You would probably have to allow at least two and a half hours to get to airport, take rental back and get through security (I think airports tend to want you to check in quite early these days)
So if you check out at 11am you will have only got 90 minutes to kill/two hours tops. That said, there is nothing stopping you from checking out early and spending the full morning in Downtown Disney. I think there is also a large Flea Market somewhere around the Walmart area too. Plus, I do believe that GKTW have free tickets for other attractions nearby.
