Jake's date with the Princesses - MAW Trip 1/28/11 -DONE-updated Pics added 2/5

Well the wish granters came by last night about 6:30 for Jake's Wish Party and to give us the packet about our trip. I have to stay I was BLOWN away. Jake had his friend Bryan and friend Sarah come over to hang out along with my friend Cheryl and her daughter Chloe who is Jake's "adopted sister". I picked up pizza on my way home - after stopping at target to get the boys new socks and a few other things for the trip.

The wish granters came with a bag of goodies for all 3 of the boys and 3 mylar balloons (noting that Clay is allergic to latex).

They brought a whole booklet with respect to our trip including the "MAGIC" Make a Wish button.

The package also included our flight information and my mom's train information - me and the boys are traveling from Northern, Virginia, while my mom is traveling from Boca Raton, Florida. She will take the train from Deerfield Beach to Kissimee - she leaves at 9:52 AM and gets in at 1:16. A car has been arranged to pick her up and take her to GKTW.

We are getting picked at 9am. We will be leaving from BWI (Baltimore-Washington International Airport - which is about a little over an hour from our house - Reagan National is closer BUT any of the 3 airports was fine). We are flying Southwest - leaving BWI at 12:20 and arriving in Orlando at 2:45. Upon arrival we will be met by a GKTW greeter and then they have rented us a mini van (need that to carry both Clay's wheelchair and my mom's scooter). I will be brining my GPS (I love it - do not know how I lived without it). Our flight home on Thursday is at 10:45 (although it is early - this is good at the boys WILL go to school on Friday - they will only miss 3 days as they have off Monday and Tuesday).

The party went so nice and my jaw almost hit the table when they gave me the spending money - I will not say how much but lets say it is enough to have a very wonderful time.

Here are some pictures from last night:

Friday after arrival we will do orientation and probably catch dinner at GKTW and then maybe take a ride around. We may hit the outlets as we have no plans that night - at least not at the moment.

We are starting to get excited and my list making is done. I have the following lists:

Medical - includes all medicines, medical supplies (feeding pumps, formula, replacement g-tubes, extensions) syringes, bandaids, and necessary OTC meds

Clothes - a list for each child and since I work all week, I have started to get all the clothes out that they will not wear this week.

I have a list of all toiletries, blowdryers, etc that we will need, and have actually purchased some just to take with us, so those are out to be packed

Misc list - batteries, cameras, laptop, etc cords that I need to take, etc AND of course Disney books, MAW stuff, and so forth.

Today I ran a few more errands - picked up rain ponchos (included an extra one or two), some new clothes for Jake to have and most of the odds and ends. I refilled most of the medications that we need for the trip - although 2 will not be in until Tuesday.

This coming week will be a whirlwind. Clay has to finish up a few projects tomorrow to turn it. Work will be a bit crazy this week too - especially as I will be out on Wednesday with an appointment at Jake's school and then a doctor appointment for me - BUT then I will be able to come home and get most of the things ready.

I am hoping to pack all in 2 suitcases and take a duffle for what we will get there - most likely I will pack 2 suitcases partially and the duffle bag partially, so we have room at home.

As for Jake he has made me promise NOT to work during the trip. He wants me to leave my work Blackberry at home - I told him I am taking it mainly so I can forward any issues to my staff or boss to handle. Other than that I plan to let the pixie sust be sprinkled on me and I am going to have the time of my life with my 3 boys and my mom. We all LOVE Disney - BUT this trip will be a special one and I want to make special memories with my boys -- NOW fingers crossed they all stay healthy.

The party looks as if it were a success and lots of fun! :goodvibes Praying everyone stays healthy! You deserve to have a special, magical :wizard: time and it sounds as if you have wonderful plans! My in-laws live in Maryland, I have been to BWI a few times, it will be nice to have someone else do the driving, I am sure...(only once to fly for myself though, years ago.)

Wow it's coming up fast! Have a great time and hopefully these last few days before the trip will be loaded with fun too!

Well the weekend is almost over and almost my bedtime, and while I did not get done EVERYTHING I wanted to - id did accomplish a good amount. :earsboy:

Yesterday I hit walmart (got those lightweight rain ponchos - 88 cents) - one for each of us and a fee extra.

Picked up a new wallet for me (yeah I needed it) and a couple of umbrellas.

ALso got Jake a bunch of new shirts for his trip at Kohl's and Target along with some jeans. Got the twins a couplr of shirts too. Jake also got a new hoodie. Also got them all new socks and Clay some new underwear - Puberty is making him grow like a weed. I am taking mostly jeans for the boys - and a few shorts as the temp looks like it will be mainly in the mid 60's - which will also call for layers. This weather is perfect for me and the boys. A good 40+ degrees higher than it was here in Northern, Virginia

Today I tried to finsih the laundry :laundy:, helped CLay compelte 2 of the projects he had due this week - so they can be turned in tomorrow a couple days early. I also, got most of the boys clothes out for the trip and most of mine. While they are not packed in the suitcase they are sitting by my fireplace.

I also started to pack the toiletries up in plastic bags. I have all the MAW stuff - including the MAGIN BUTTON (THE MAW button - and I know we will also get a GKTW one). :goodvibes

Spent some time today trying to see if there is anything else special Jake wants to do he mentioned he wants to go to a steak house - so open to suggestions - we did le Celliar last January. Does not necessarily have to be on property. We also looked at the dessert buffet and that is a maybe.

Off to bed soon - will post more tomorrow.

Wow!!! everything is coming all together. The party looked like a blast. Sorry Clay wasn't feeling well.

Well we are leaving on Friday  - SNOW willing. Today the boys did not have school - YES we have no snow then BUT rain and slush BUT good ole Fairfax County Virginia cancelled school - BUT now we have about 8 inches on the ground and NO SCHOOL tomorrow - and actually this is great for me as I can work at home and finish packing. I have all the boys clothes out just need to match them up and make sure I have everything. My clothes are out in my room. I have all the toiletries - except the things I use daily already in plastic bags.

Today I ran some last minute errands - BEFORE ALL the horrible snow - I got all remaining meds for the boys that I needed to get refilled and also my meds. I then took all 3 boys for haircuts and Jake got some blonde highlights - YES he wants to be BLONDE like mommy :) Thankfully this was before we had THUNDER SNOW - OMG that was COOL but lots and lots of snow.

I have Clay's wheelchair (convaid cruiser - we do not use it daily only when we travel and for distances or if he is sick) and I have my list of all the things I need to remember to pack - chargers (phone, laptop, camera, gps, handicap placard for car, etc) and ALL the meds that I cannot pack until right before we leave. I also need to make the meds for the plane of Friday - and make sure I have all the g-tube supplies.

So I need to get everything in the suitcases tomorrow. The car is picking us up at 9 Friday morning to take us to BWI. Jake is getting so excited.

We are finalizing some more plans.

Friday when we arrive we will do orientation at GKTW and most likely have dinner there and probably hit the Wal-Mart. Saturday BRIGHT and early we eat breakfast in EPCOT with the princesses and then meet up with our close friends (they are who we went to Disney with last January - OKW and they live about 2 hours from Disney and are AP holders - so they are meeting us Saturday and Sunday - we love them and they LOVE Disney as much as we do and she is the one who got me introduced to ADR and stuff 3 years ago. Tonight she called me and ALREADY wants to plan a trip for next year - lol.

Sunday night we are meeting other friends of ours as Jake wants to meet up with them (he plays Special Olympics Basketball with Elizabeth) so we will have dinner with them at MK.

Well I am going to try to get some sleep as tomorrow will be a long day - being home with 3 teenage boys, trying to work and pack, etc. Will be interesting.

I am getting so excited. My mom is getting so anxious - not sure why - she gets to take a train up from Boca by herself and I get to fly ALONE with 3 boys with medical issues and one Clay who really does not fly (Jake and Cole are EXPERT fliers - the past 2 years Jake has gone to a Paul Newman camp in Seattle and then flew out there again to talk about his experience at their big fundraiser - by themselves) BUT Clay is very anxious but I have some medication to give him if necessary. He is just an obsessive personality so hopefully the flight will be ok as we are supposed to go on a Medeterrian Cruise for Cole's MAW trip this summer and that will be a MUCH longer flight. He is good on the drives to Florida (we go visit my mom every Christmas for 2 weeks)SO keep your fingers crossed that he will be ok

You leave tomorrow! How exciting! I know you must be glad that the snow came yesterday (and not today or tomorrow) so that it wouldn’t interfere with your trip. Thank goodness that you were able to get things done yesterday before the snow. The THUNDER SNOW! That was an amazing show last night! I’ve heard of thunder snow but I have never seen it in person until last night. I haven’t dared to venture out yet today – because I was one of the dummies stuck in gridlock last night – but I heard that the roads are fairly clear and that they are cleaning off the runways at all of the airports, so you should be fine for your flight tomorrow out of BWI. You are probably out getting those last minute things done right now! You probably also just got that text from the county saying that schools are out tomorrow too! So now the boys will only be missing two days of school for this trip :lmao: You are getting away at the perfect time! As I am typing this, the temperature in NOVA is 35 and the temp in Orlando is 65 :cool1:

Did you decide on a place for a steak dinner yet? I have never been to Yachtsman Steakhouse but I have heard good things about it and hope to try it myself on a future trip. Well, the best of luck to you on this trip! I hope your travels go well, that everyone stays healthy and the trip is very special for you and your boys and your mom!
