Jaime's Illustrative Sojourn of Gastronomical Endeavors 5 (Shots of Food I Ate) DONE!

WHO: Jaime (me - 39), Rhonda (sister - 58), Meggie (DD - 16), Judi (sister - 62), Ron (BIL - 65), & Brooke (great-neice - 4 1/2 - first trip!)

WHEN: September 8 - September 15, 2007

WHERE: Port Orleans French Quarter

WHAT: My favorite food reports include a lot of pictures... in putting up my last few dining reports (all conceived after the fact), I realized I did not take as many food pictures as I thought I had. Thusly, this trip would be different!

Boy, was it ever... about 1/3 of my pictures are of FOOD!!!

Next trip, let's try for a better balance!

Basic chicken strips and fries. Silly me had been away from Disney for so long (3 1/2 months! ) I forgot how the dining plan worked and was shocked that my counter service meal came with dessert and a drink! How quickly the mind goes when you near 40, huh???

I got the chocolate cake instead of the apple pie for Brooke - kid's first words were "Chocolate cake!" - but she refused to eat it - Judi did instead. I'm not a big chocolate cake fan and this one wasn't going to win me over...

That was Meg's and she did NOT like the greens.


Ron's Meatloaf BEFORE and AFTER -

Salmon - Judi raved about the corn relish on top... I did not like the corn relish.

Rhonda's Pot Roast BEFORE and AFTER -

Brooke got the mac 'n cheese -

But before it showed up, she fell asleep at the table -

DESSERTS:

Angel Food Cake with Strawberries - I miss the other berries and the whipped cream.

First you are greeted by a princess -

Then there's a cold bar - muffins, cheese, breads, etc.

I grabbed a muffin, a croissant, some cheeses, a piece of salami (?), and a piece of flat bread.

Brooke had a banana -

Seriously, that's all she ate.

Then they bring out a platter of food - you can get more of whatever you want - we got another bowl of the potatoes...

STARTING AT THE TOP: Potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage.

This is one of my favorite places to eat!!!

Let's burn through some snack credits -

Brooke gets a chocolate chip cookie -

and tries to DRINK it!!!

Meg must have really liked the brownie - this is all I was able to get a picture of -

Ron and Rhonda (his sister-in-law!) split a key lime pie -

while Judi, Ron's wife, enjoyed a chocolate chip muffin -

And, once again at this food court, I am the loser... I can never get anything here that I like - I went with the rice krispie treat and it was awful... stale and the marshmallow creme was all gunked up at the bottom... icky!!!

Meg totally enjoying her pretzel bread and coke!

I LOVE this salad - it's the mixed field greens, but there's fried sweet potato sprinkled on top, blue cheese crumbles, and pecan-shallot vinaigrette

The famous cheddar cheese soup - (it's a little smoky tasting, and I don't like smoky - please don't hate me!)

The Asian Shrimp Salad - Rhonda misses the take out container presentation -

Canadian hot dog???

And are those French-Canadian fries?


Meg's filet mignon (nobody tell her - but there's 4 of these in the freezer from my boss for Christmas!)

LeCellier has the best salmon - they pair it with with maple butter and pecan vinaigrette. Huh. Those are WALNUTS... Anyway... Take a bite of salmon and a walnut in your mouth at the same time.... TRUST ME!!!

The only problem with this dish, to me - I think Judi loved this part - is that the salmon sits on butternut squash risotto. I think I'll see if they can give me potatoes next time!

Prime Rib - Rhonda asked for the mashed potatoes instead of the roasted ones.

DESSERTS!!!

Thanks for taking the time to take and post all the pics. (I can just hear the conversation now: "Wait, don't touch that soup, I have to get a picture for my DIS friends...")

And then we look at the pics and analyze every shot to decide on where we will make ADRS, what we will order, etc, etc. Wow, we are a little nuts!!

And now I am drooling. Thanks a lot!

We're up to the morning of September 10th, 2007.

We walked over to Port Orleans Riverside for a very early breakfast at Boatwright's.

Meg and Brooke spent their time wisely (Meg is coloring the Black Pearl - OK, it was just a pirate ship, but not to her!)

The reason this restaurant was chosen was so Rhonda and Judi could have sweet potato pancakes -

I went with the Boatwright's Breakfast -

And Ron had blueberry pancakes -

Great food, great service...

Goody, lots of food pics! Thanks for taking the time to post them.

But I have to ask, what is with the mutant shrimp at the Prime Time? They look enormous!!! Or was it just the camera angle???

Meg and I went back to our resort later on for lunch.

I got the meatball sub (BEST MEATBALL SUB OF THE ENTIRE TRIP!!!), pasta salad (should have gotten the regular salad, but not bad), and water. For dessert, a Mickey rice krispie treat which was WAY better than the one from the Land food court. It actually ended up in the fridge in the room until a few days later it got eaten for breakfast!

Meg was starving!!! She went with a bacon double cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate milk. Her dessert was a small order of beignets. If you've never tried these - you really MUST!!!
