Hi. I'm Jaime. :wave2: I'm a longtime Dining Board lurker, some time poster.

I spend most of my time on the Trip Reports Board (see signature for proof!) and thought I'd try a dining report.

QUICK RUN-DOWN OF CAST:

Me, Jaime, 39: This is my 16th trip to WDW. I love writing trip reports. I love reading trip reports. I'M BRANCHING OUT WITH A DINING REPORT. I’m divorced, have an 18DD in college in Seattle and a 16DD at home. I eat, sleep, and breathe Disneyworld. I have the best job in the world at a small roofing company. Winters at a roofing company are fun – we had a Yatzee marathon a few days ago. There are only 3 of us girls and the 2 bosses – who are wintering in Pompano Beach (it’s February as I write this). OK, way off track here…

Rhonda, sister, 57: I’m about 95% convinced this is her 37th trip… but she’ll correct me if I’m wrong. When she grows up and retires (February, 2009), she wants to move to Florida and clean up horse poop on Main Street. Our oldest sister, Mia, (65? 64?) is moving with her. After my divorce a couple years ago, they asked me to move with them… to take care of them in their old age… apparently Rhonda won’t be the only one cleaning up poop! LOL!!!!!

Ruth, Rhonda’s co-worker: I don’t know how old Ruth is or how many times she’s been to Disney. I know Ruth likes to do laundry on vacations, she always wore jeans on our last trip (I don’t know how she didn’t roast!), she doesn’t like thrill rides (was not a fan of Soarin’ even!), and (like me) she’s very outspoken. A funny Ruth story from the last trip involved the 50’s Prime Time Café. Ruth had been there before and knew you could get in trouble for not finishing your food, so she brought a zip lock bag and purposely ordered a sandwich. She ate half and put the other half in the baggie. The waitress was behind her, talking to another table, and heard the bag. By the time she came over, the bag with the sandwich was hidden in Ruth’s purse, and Rhonda got yelled at by the waitress for hiding food!

Sandy, former co-worker of Rhonda and Ruth: I think this is Sandy’s 3rd trip to WDW, but I could be wrong on that. I believe she’s in her 60s. But you’d never, ever know it! I thought she was in her 40s when I met her. Sandy will be my roommate for this trip and I’m looking forward to getting to know her better.

RUTH GOT THE CHICKEN SANDWICH:

I will miss this place when they change it. The food is always good - I even eat my green beans! :goodvibes

FROM THE TOP:
A zebra dome (grabbed that before any other food); bobotie (brown and yellow lump)- looked like meat and corn bread, but was actually sweet - cinnamon, I think; prime rib; chicken (fantastic!); nut-crusted salmon (I liked, Rhonda did not); falafels (little round balls) - BEST item of the night! - with a yogurt sauce; coconut rice; potatoes with afritute (boring).

SECOND PLATE:
Tried to go a little healthier - salad with mango viniagrette - tasty!; 3 kinds of hummus. Turns out I like hummus! Who knew? :confused3

LAST PLATE:
Getting full! At the top was a cherry crumble; bread pudding with vanilla glaze; some kind of apple thing; chocolate mousse with alchohol; strawberry tart; in the center - flourless chocolate cake. The only one of these I enjoyed was the chocolate mousse.

Great pics Jaime! I think you need to change the title on your second post...isn't that dinner at Boma??

Looking forward to more!

Brenda :goodvibes

I had the adult breakfast platter:

It's an average breakfast platter. Lots of food for breakfast, though!

Ruth went with the children's breakfast and a biscuit on the side:

loving your food reports - it's all i ever want: to see pictures of the food, and minimal narrative! - thanks!

Yeah dining reviews with pictures. Yipeeee!! Thanks, I am so enjoying your dining reviews!!

Excellent, so far ~ Looking forward to reading more.

***Thanks for all the kind words and comments! This is fun (and a heck of a lot faster than writing a trip report! LOL!)***

Rhonda eating her turkey leg - I had a pretzel (no picture) and we would switch off. Both were a little too big for one person to eat the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing your pics! I love food pics -- it's not as good as eatng the food yourself but it is close. :)

Great pics, looking forward to more - we'll arrive at AKL on Saturday so it was great seeing your Boma and Mara pics!

What great pics!! Keep 'em coming!

(Boma nearly had me drooling into my keyboard!!)

Oh! And I forgot the soup at Boma! It's up in the right-hand corner of the first picture! It's the carrot-ginger soup. Very good - very rich and sweet. A few spoonfuls go a long way. :)
