Jacksonville to WDW ... the last leg!!

Driving from NE PA in less than 3 weeks. We've always taken I-95 to I-4 and always seem to get delayed driving right through the heart of Orlando to Lake Buena Vista. Has anyone taken an alternate route to avoid downtown Orlando? Thanks!

I hate to say it but 95 to I-4 is usually the quickest. We live at the beaches outside of Jax. and from our door to the hotel always takes 2 1/2 hours no matter what. We have tried the back way though Mount Dora, Gainesville, etc.. it is a pretty drive when we are not in a hurry because that way usually takes us 4 hours. I hate 95 and I-4 but we usually do it to save time. They have been trying for years to get an I-4 by-pass but no luck so far.
The traffic is usually a little better if you avoid rush hours- morning and afternoon ones- or travel on the week-end. We leave at 3 or 4 in the morning sometimes to get through there before the morning rush hour. Good luck deciding!
