Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

As long as cutting the cheese display doesn't take you under your minimum, I say go for it :) I'm sure people will be fine with just the fruit. Fruit's good, and not everyone likes artisinal cheese, but most everyone likes fruit!

Love Actually just happens to be one of my three favorite movies!!! :yay: DF and I watch it while we put up the Christmas tree every year (although I watch it a few times throughout the year). That being said, I LOVE the song idea!!!

And I have to tell you that I am super jealous about the pretzel breadsticks. So much so that I may have to ask my planner about having these on the buffet...

:goodvibes

Getting boys to make decisions...ugh! I completely know the feeling!

Great song choices though!!

I think just fruit would be fine!

Cute sample. And I can't wait until you get to get your dress! Awesome!

Ugh, and Chris is THE most indecisive person in the world. Seriously. And UGH CAN I VENT ABOUT MY DRESS!!!!!! I'm going to.

So, yesterday, my fedex tracking said that the package was out for delivery, so (apart from going to the gym for an hour in the morning), I stayed home all day. I didn't even shower because I didn't want to miss the dress! And, finally, around 5:15ish or so, I see a fedex truck outside, so I get all excited and throw the leash on the dog and run outside... and by the time I get outside, the fedex truck is gone. Huh. Weird, right? So, I wait outside for awhile because it's nice out and hopefully it comes soon--- but, about 20 mins later, I go track the package again, and it says something like " at 5:14 tried to deliver, recipient not home" or something--- WHICH IS BULLCRAP BECAUSE I WAS HOME ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( So, I guess the Fedex person didn't even get out the truck!!!!!!!!! I called the helpline and tried to get them to contact the truck, but there was no way to do that, so now I have to go pick UP the package. GAH!!! Sorry for the rant, haha, I was just SO angry and I paid a lot of money to ship this dress.

Whew. Glad I got that out!

Oh, yeah, we're doing a Dessert Party too, so we won't be under the food minimums. I'm hoping we're okay with budget regardless!

You need the breadsticks. HAVE THE BREADSTICKS!

yay for things moving along!

Thanks! :D

Also, one more quick rant. DF says to me yesterday "Oh, my mom wants to know if there's a website to look at what color the bridesmaid dresses are because she brought a dress and Lacy told her it was too close to the bridesmaid dress color, so she wants to look for herself."

--pause--

The ONLY thing I told his mother about attire was NOT TO BUY A RED DRESS!!!!! I can't give her a website to look at because Alfred Angelo claret looks like a pink online, but it's a deep red in person. I told Chris to tell her ANY shade of red absolutely will not work. And I wish she were normal, and would simply ask me instead of "asking him to ask me," ykim? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Okay. Rant over. :goodvibes

Ok, I get zero points for timeliness, but you posted earlier this month about comfortable flip-flops for walking the World. Have you ever owned Rainbows? I grew up on a beach, so I live in flip-flops, and Rainbows are my absolute favorite. They don't fall apart after a month, either.

And sorry about the FMIL drama! My fiance's stepmom has known about our Oct. wedding since last June and still won't say if she's coming. She's been married to DF's dad for close to 20 years, so she's not some new wife that DF doesn't know. It's infuriating and causing a lot of stress in DF's family!

OMG that is awful!
I remember that happened to me one time as well. I was literally sitting by the door all day and the UPS man came and left! I was like...what in the world!! I remember it being something I really wanted so I called and kept speaking to more and more people until they made the driver come back. The driver was soooo rude to me when he came back, but I just got my package and closed my door....haha!
Anyways, I hope you get it soon!!!!!

Sorry about the Fedex problem. That really stinks! Hopefully, you get your dress soon.

I have no words when it comes to your FMIL. :confused3 It seems that anything she can make a problem, she does. Really sorry that you have to go through all this. Wish I could tell she might get better, but I would probably be lying. :) I hope for your sake it does get better though.

I didn't so much grow up on the beach, but flip flops are pretty much a part of the standard New England uniform--- it's amazing to me how few people in the Midwest don't wear them! And I googled Rainbows, and they look AWESOME! Do you know of any chain-type stores that carry them where I could try them on first?

And I'm sorry to hear that about your fiance's stepmom. GRR!

GAH! I've had issues with UPS too. I think the post office is the nicest.

Thank you for saying that! Sometimes I think I'm overly sensitive (which I know I am, sometimes at least). It's good to hear that I am not COMPLETELY crazy.

So, I GOT THE BREADSTICKS added on to the buffet. Thank you for that brilliant idea! :worship:

YAY! I'm glad.

Okay... so I had to wait about an hour before I wrote this post because I've been freaking out, and I am just now calming down. I picked up my dress today...

... and it's not my dress.

Okay, let me back up. It's my dress, but I ordered the Alfred Angelo Cinderella dress WITH the glittery tulle skirt. The one I tried on in the store did NOT have the glittery tulle, but I wanted it with the glitter. I emphasized this numerous times, and I remember the salesgirl even going to double check on the style number.

But, I opened that big ol' box, and there was no glittery tulle to be found! I even spent 15 minutes examining it, just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. (Picture me doing this. It's kind of funny actually.)

SO I called the Alfred Angelo store in Altamonte Springs, FL (where I bought the dress) in a panic. She said that everything they had on their file said I ordered the one WITHOUT the glitter. I told Angela, the very nice woman on the phone, that was simply incorrect and I requested the glittery tulle. THANKFULLY!!!! she said they could switch it out for the glitter. So, she's mailing me a fedex slip (they're covering the shipping), and I'm going to send it back out to them as soon as I get the slip, and then they're going to reorder. She said it shouldn't take as long to reorder the dress, but I also have plenty of time.

But OMG I am still freaking out! The dress is, thankfully, still pretty, but I am kind of mad at the one that's in my closet because it's NOT MY DRESS! The one I ordered is also a litttttle snug (which I was afraid of), and so I am ordering the next size up (which they okayed because we have to reorder anyway), just to be safe--- although after this weekend, I'm gonna start laying off the ice cream!

Whew. Can I have some hugs, disbrides?

That SUCKS! I am so sorry about that! But thank god they are going to fix it and at least there is plently of time before your wedding. I am starting to wonder what is wrong with the people at Alfred Angelo. It seems like so many of us have had issues at these stores.

I went to pick up my dress on Tuesday. Before I went they called and told me to bring my shoes so I could try it on. They also told me I wouldn't need my petticoat and corset thing because I bought it there so they could just let me borrow one. Well I walk in they ask what I need and I say I am there to pick up my dress. When I go into the room with my dress the girl gives me the smallest petticoat (I bought the biggest one) I told her don't I need to try on the same one I'm using she said no, then she said for me not to worry about using the corset thing just to put on my dress without one. Then she asked why I brought my shoes and told me not to put em on. By this time I was getting ticked off but I have a hard time speaking up. I was left in the room by myself to get into my dress. You have seen the belle dress and it was almost impossible to get into alone. I put it on and called the lady in and I asked, "Why am I even trying this on, I don't have the proper petticoat, corset, or my shoes on." She then told me to just get out of my dress then. I was like OMG. So then I got out of it alone. I had 3 alterations they cut off like half an inch from the bottom, fixed some beads and did the bustle. The workers were to busy talking about the customer in the next dressing room to help me. There was a transvestite trying on dresses and the workers were talking about him and no one wanted to help him. All I can say is that I am happy to have my dress out of there and I won't recommend that store to anyone. The only day I had good customer service was the day I bought my dress and the next two times I went it was horrible.

That really sucks, but it's good that they're going to fix it for you! :yay: I hope the new one doesn't take as long!

I'm so sorry, Jackie! I can only imagine how excited you must have been to get the box, and then it's the wrong dress. Thank goodness they're going to fix it for you!

But I have to admit...

I even spent 15 minutes examining it, just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. (Picture me doing this. It's kind of funny actually.)

It is pretty funny to think of you looking for sparkles that clearly aren't there.

And about the Rainbows, during the summer our department stores like Dillards and Nordstrom carry them. I think surfer/skater shops like PacSun, Journeys, etc carry some year round :thumbsup2

Oh noes! Geez, you weren't kidding about the DRESS DRAMA (in caps). I'm soooo sorry! Thank goodness AA is sending you the correct one. That's the second good AA story I've read on here this week! But I can't even imagine how stressed you were for a bit there.

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH AA??? SERIOUSLY!!!

That's so aggravating. You know all of my drama with my dress, and when I was there the lady told me that lately they have been sending alot of defective dresses.

Atleast they are fixing it for you! Thank goodness!

OMG!!!! I am so sorry that it is the wrong skirt on the dress! How the h*ll did they screw that up??? AA really needs to get their cr@p together!!!

Glad they are fixing it for you though. Hopefully, the right dress will be hanging in your closet soon. :)

You are so welcome on the comment about your FMIL. She just seems so awful. Sorry you have to deal with her.

Here's the hug you requested.... Hope your day gets better.

:scared1: Oh. my. goodness. What the crap?! You poor thing! No disbride needs that to happen to her dress!!! I'm glad it's being resolved though. I can't wait for you to get the glittery dress!!!!! :wizard:

:grouphug:

how on earth can you be a disbride without glitter :confused3

i'm glad it's getting straightened out and that you can get a different size :) lots of hugs

UGH!!!! What the heck is up with that?!?! It sounds as though a lot of people at your store don't know what the heck they are doing! Thankfully, the girl I spoke to on the phone was VERY nice about it and I did not have to go all bridezilla on her, but STILL! We spend tons of money there, and we should be treated as such! (I hope that didn't sound snobby.)

That really sucks, but it's good that they're going to fix it for you! :yay: I hope the new one doesn't take as long!

Thank you :) <3

Oh, no, it was hilarious. I took the lamp off of the bureau and held it up to the dress, searching for invisible glitter. Not one of my proudest moments!

Right! At least both mine and Kristi's stories are in the process of having happy endings!

Gah! What the heck. I know that AA isn't exactly Kleinfeld, but they are still fairly expensive and need to get their act together! They're lucky that I just love my dress so hardcore.

I think your comment of not bring a disbride without glitter made my day. I think that should be a disbride motto.

Sorry that you are dealing with all of this dress drama!!! Glad they are going to fix it! :goodvibes

Thank you! :)

And thank you to EVERYONE who commented! I was really freaked out (and went through the natural processes of Wrong Dress Grief: Shock, Horror, Anger, Ice Cream, and Sadness), but your comments REALLY helped--- and a lot of you have been much more supportive than some of my "real life" friends and family, so just thank you again! :grouphug::grouphug: Have a good weekend, girls!
