Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

I absolutely LOVE that blue and white dress! I almost bought it myself just to wear around, but there's a pick-up in it and I don't like how pick-ups look on me :lmao: I love Torrid's clothes :) I have a purple "military sweater dress" that I love to wear, and a few of their tube tops.

I'm sorry you were treated so poorly at the bridal store. I'm not anywhere near being a bride (I mainly just lurk on the boards and subscribe to PJs I find interesting), but when my best friend got married, we were treated very shabbily at a David's Bridal when we went for bridesmaid dresses. We're all also plus size women, shopping on a budget, which is why the consultant treated us that way. She knew she wouldn't get as much commission from us as she would from the bride looking at the $1500 dress.

Ugh, how ridiculous!!! Just be glad you don't have a brain the size of a pea and no good common sense like the girl who waited on you in that store! I'm sure your dress will fit just fine and even if it doesn't that's what seamstresses are for!

And i love the dress for the shower--very cute! And the shoes too!

Thank you for your kind words! <3 I hate people sometimes!

Ugggh, I'm so sorry you had a horrible saleslady at AA. I'll drop kick her for you...You are just perfect and you have nothing to worry about.
I adore the bridal shower dress, but perhaps find a shawl or bolero for it? (Just thinking of January weather and all...) :lovestruc

Awww thank you--- your comment made me smile. :) And no worries--- the bridal shower is in September in CT, where it's still prettttttttty hot! But I need to pick up a couple shawls anyway.

So sorry about your experience in that store! You sound a lot like me - I'm so really shy and quiet, and I hate to create waves anywhere, but when it comes to $$ I can be really cheap!! But I'm glad that at least you got the dress at a pretty comparable price. Honestly, if I had your experience with that sales lady I probably would have cried :( So I totally get how you are feeling.

But the dress you posted from your bridal shower is so cute! Where is it from? I love that style with the blue and white color combo. The shoes are definitely pretty, but I'm wondering if you could find something similar for a little less?

And by the way, my pair of Teva's just arrived in the mail! I'm excited to try them out ;)

I'm telling you, Becky, we would totally be BFF if I didn't live in Wisconsin! (All of my friends live on the East Coast anyway, it's really depressing sometimes.)

The dress is from this store called Torrid, which sells really cute, youngish plus size clothes. I've never really been in there before (I kind of teeter on the edge of plus size, if that makes sense?) But they have SO much cute stuff!!!! And I do agree about the flip flops, I probably could find something cheaper. But.... they're shiny. :P

And let me know how you like the tevas!

The dress is SO cute, right? I'd never tried on pick ups before, but I think they are hit-or-miss. And I HATE (some) bridal consultants! why are they so mean?!?! I worked in retail for 6 yrs, so I have a high standard when it comes to customer service as it is. Ugh. But thanks for commenting! :)

 Oh right! For some reason I was thinking rehearsal dinner...shows you I can read! But yes, it's perfectly adorable for a shower!!!

Love the blue dress!!! It's gorgeous!
Ugh that sales lady! How RUDE! I definitely would not have been able to hold my tongue on that one. But I never do :rotfl: But seriously, I'm so mad at her for you! Don't feel crappy, some people are just miserable people...

We definitely would be! All of my friends are all over the country anyway. If you ever come out to this area of Pennsylvania you should let me know ;)

They had this one white one with tulle under the skirt and it looked too puffy on me :lmao: But yeah, I don't know why some bridal consultants are mean or what have you. I worked for Disney and am so used to providing stellar guest service that when I don't receive it, it's definitely noticeable and something I remember and will usually notify management or corporate about. That experience I had at DB is why if I ever get married, I'm not going there for any dresses. And you're welcome! :) I like your PJ :lmao:

Oh, I am planning on wearing some very unseasonable stuff during my honeymoon--- so I need shrugs anyway!

I think I tried that dress on! Was it eyelet? It looked HORRENDOUS on me!!!! Like, I laughed in the fitting room.:rotfl2: And thank you so much for reading!

So, when I got home, I realized something ELSE wrong about my dress shopping yesterday: I ordered it in blue jay instead of blue pastel!!!! Gah!!! So I had to call and leave a message and I think they're going to let me change the color (I received a phone call back but missed it); I just have to talk to them tomorrow. I do like the blue jay (it's a shade darker), but I would prefer the blue pastel. (I never realized there were so many different shades of EVERYTHING until I became a bride to be!!!!!)

Also, I sent a tweet to Alfred Angelo (because I am that non-confrontational) telling them I had a bad experience with one of their vendors, and I got a response saying to email them with what happened. I am going to write an email to them tomorrow and tell them, and I will definitely keep you posted! I am not looking for any retribution or anything (well, not really), but I do want to let them know--- but I also don't want them to make a big deal out of it.

Anyway, I did go out and buy that dress for the bridal shower! Here is a picture of me in it, looking terribly awkward.

Pretty cute, no? I think it's mostly flattering, and really appropriate for a shower. Oh! And I got these too--- engagement ring earrings!

I also got a coupon for $50 off of $100 so next month, so when my bank account recovers I can go back and get a Planning Session dress. I've been a little dress obsessed lately.... Oh! And I tried on those flip flops, but didn't like them.

Wow, I've been updating a lot lately, huh? Thanks for reading, girls--- your comments really helped me feel better yesterday. :grouphug::grouphug:

Yes, it was the white eyelet one! I carry my weight in my middle, so it just looked awful :sad2: But oh well :)

That dress is adorable on you! Do you have a strapless bra to go with it? I don't know what size you are, but Lane Bryant should be having their annual bra sale soon and they carry convertible/strapless bras.

I just wanted to post--- we could finally book our DVC reservations today for our wedding!!!! We're ALL staying at the Beach Club Villas! Chris and I are staying the 4th, 5th, and 6th, and my grandparents, dad, and aunt/uncle/cousin are staying the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. So we now have 15 nights for our room block!

I'm slightly disappointed we couldn't get into the Boardwalk (just for the convenience factor!), but I've always wanted to say at the Beach Club, and I do think, overall, it's prettier than the Boardwalk--- and, of course, STORMALONG BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I just have to wait until the 8th so we can book our resort for our honeymoon--- fingers crossed for MK view availability at BLT!

Just joining in. Congrats! Everything looks great. Love the centerpieces!!! Love the dresses. Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

Sorry about the bad treatment at AA. I am on the plus size too, so I would have been horrified. That was terrible. Is there any chance you could order it from a different AA, so they don't get the credit for it? Maybe the one in FL you liked? Just a thought. I really like an AA dress as a possible dress for my welcome dinner, but after everyone's treatment, I am rethinking now.

We own at BCV, so if you have any questions, please let me know. It is a wonderful resort. You will love it!

I am so sorry about what happened at the AA store. I know exactly how you feel. When I went wedding dress shopping in my home-town they basically told me that I could not try on any dresses in the store because I am plus-size. They said what they could do for me is let me see a catalog, then I could pick out a dress and they would order it and that would be my dress. How am I supposed to order a dress if I don't try it on!!! My self-esteem went way down, and when I went to try on the Disney dresses I was so nervous. Its just like what you said, people can be so mean. They don't realize how much their words can hurt. That lady had no right to talk to you like that. You would think that after all the money we spend in their stores they would treat us a little better.

Now on to some more positive stuff! I love the other dress that you bought!!!! It looks great on you! I can't wait to read more of your plans!

What a jerk that lady was! I'm so sorry you were treated that way but I'm glad you were able to get the dress you wanted. I love your dress! It's just beautiful!

I really like that dress on you, it's so cute! And those earrings are adorable :goodvibes

I had the absolute worst experience at a store a few months ago, to the point where I ended up in tears afterwards because I felt like the sales guy was just so rude to me and it really shook me. Like you, I emailed the company, got a response saying that they would pass my information along to the specific branch of the store where I received this service, and that I should hear from them in a few days. Well, I never heard anything at all, didn't even get an apology from the company. Hopefully your complaint with AA will go a little better than that!

Oohh yes, I definitely have to pick up a couple strapless bras anyway, and there is a Cacique by me! However, I am not allowed to shop again until next month. :lmao:

Well, this wasn't at AA--- it was a local "boutique" that sold AA. The AA in Florida was SO nice (I love them so much!) and the one I went to in MA was decent enough--- a little pushy, but I suppose that's to be expected. I think if you're plus sized, I would DEFINITELY try AA. They have TONS of sizes at reasonable prices! And I can't order it from another store--- all sales are final. :( :(

But, I am so glad to keep hearing good things about BCV! I am SO excited! :)

Gah!!! That is so awful--- I can't believe that store did that to you. You do, however, look STUNNING in your Belle dress! (Seriously, I hated that dress until I saw a picture of you in it--- my MOH agrees to! You look SO good!)

And thank you so much! Thank you for joining in!

Thank you so much! I love all the disbrides <3

Ooff! I can't believe they never contacted you, and I am sorry you had to go through something similar. <3

Your shower dress looks awesome!!! I love it! Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your vendor. I had a few too many of those, exactly why I ended up buying my dress online instead of dealing with David's Bridal's crappy customer service, you just got to stand tall and say to yourself your not going to bring me down :goodvibes

Thank you! And UGH see that's still ridiculous that you had to buy your dress online. I hate snobby people!

I do want to say that I apologize for my newfound frequency of posts--- I still have 2 weeks and 5 days until my summer classes start, so I've been a litttttle bored lately. (Can you tell?!?!) And wedding stuff is just so much fun!

First, another dress I ordered came in! I was going to stop posting clothes pictures, but this dress is just so gosh darn pretty I needed to share it.

The Dress:

It's just SO different and unique. I like that it has sleeves too, so (paired with leggings, of course!) I think it will be really good for January. Although, all of these dresses are taking up a lot of room in my tiny closet!

Oh, I did email Alfred Angelo and I received a very nice apology email from them, which I am happy about. The woman I emailed did say she would be forwarding my email to the "appropriate corporate division" so I don't know if I will hear anything else, but I am satisfied with my apology. It is not their fault that their vendor is rude!

Also--- Meghan and my MOH Richelle booked their rooms, so I officially made my room block!!! :cool1::cool1: Because we're having a small Wishes wedding, I was only contractually obligated to fill 23 room nights, and I'm currently at 32. I was given my complimentary night at the GF--- but Jason my Room Block Guy booked it on the night of the 6th, instead of the 7th like I requested! So I now have two places to sleep on the 6th, and nowhere on the 7th! I guess I can always pitch a tent on the GF beach? :lmao: I'm still waiting for an email from Jason saying he switched that for me. It doesn't help that I am super-antsy because I've wanted to stay at the GF since I was little. I focus on Victorian literature in graduate school, so the theming matches everything I love.

I really need to start another craft project to keep me occupied. My ribbon topiaries are all done (and someone is selling ribbon topiaries on etsy for $30 a piece! I think I'm missing my calling in life!) and I really liked feeling productive. Any suggestions? I really wanted to make door hangers, but I tried to design one on photoshop, but then DF the Graphic Designer put on his Know-it-All Cap and said they wouldn't print out right but then didn't try to fix it for me. :( SO any crafty suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

I love your dress and the pattern is so pretty!!!:goodvibes

Can't wait to see what you choose for a planning session dress

Love that dress!! It's very pretty!!!

I'm looking for craft things to do as well all of a sudden. Even though I don't have an artistic bone in my body

I'm glad you got an apology!

That is a gorgeous dress!

What did you want the door hangers to look like? I'm sure there's a way to design it on the computer if you want to do that, I would just do a test print with your printer on fast draft and then if it doesn't come out right you can modify it from there. There are other options too, depending on how crafty you're feeling (and how many you have to make!) I've seen wooden ones for sale at places like Michael's and you could paint them or decorate them. Or you could use cardstock and get some rubber stamps and stamp a design. I recently saw rubber stamps with the alphabet in the shape of mickey heads in the clearance section at Michael's!

Love the dress!

Congrats on making the room block! Don't worry about them messing up the day for your free night. I wanted mine on the last night of the trip and they put it on the first night. I sent an e-mail to fix it and it was sorted out within a few days.

Good luck with the next project!
