Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

Okay, so the whole "staying away from the disboards thing" didn't go so well. :lmao: I did manage to get almost my ENTIRE Jane Austen paper written though--- I just need to revise it and hand it in on Tuesday! Then just one more paper to go (and about 70 papers to grade...) and then I'm done! I've had two job interviews, and both of them went pretty well, so continue keeping your fingers crossed for me, okay girls??

Anyway, enough with the life updates--- here's some wedding stuff! I forgot to post it in my last update, but my Grammy bought me a "something blue" and I'm absolutely in love with it:

photo8.jpg

I know, I know, it's not the most "adult" thing in the world, but I think it suits me. It's one of those "wish bracelets" from WDW and it says "I wish to live the life of a Princess" (after all, isn't that what most of us disney brides want?!?) and Grammy attached a coach charm to the end of it. You're supposed to wear it until it gets frayed and tattered, and I love the idea of keeping something from my wedding day on me for awhile.

I also made two more centerpieces:

photo6.jpg

This is light pink and princess ribbon. I think it's sweet.

photo7.jpg

And I REALLY like this one. The brown ribbon says "We tied the knot!" in sparkly pink writing, in case you can't see. Only 8 more left to go!

I also just wanted to briefly mention that one of my bridesmaids (Meghan, aka MaidMeghan on the boards) dropped out. I was a little sad for both her and for me, but I'm fine and completely understanding about it--- especially because I had to drop out of Liz's wedding due to work and school-related reasons. (Apparently, if they find out you have to cancel your class to go to Disney World, they freak out. Who knew?!) Selfishly, the worst part for me is I'm going to have a lopsided wedding because DF has four groomsen! There are other people I could ask, but all of my friends from college here can't possibly afford a Disney vacation, and I really don't have too many other CLOSE friends! (Does that sound bad? I'm slightly antisocial, and I didn't have a ton of close friends from undergrad because it was a party school and I'm not a drinker at ALL. I spend most of my time with DF anyway.) I'm going to have all of the girls walk up on their own and all of the guys walk up on their own, so it won't be that big of a deal ceremony-wise.

Oh! I also had a color change! Instead of claret red accented with ivory, I'm going to accent it with silver. I was totally inspired by MissManners and by one of my colleagues in a meeting I had to attend--- he had on a silver and claret tie and I loved it! (Yup. I was paying attention in the meeting....) I think the colors will look romantic and wintery together, no?? I tried to find an inspiration picture, but came up with nothing!

I guess I've babbled enough, again! :goodvibes

I love your something blue! And the centerpieces are awesome. You really have found the most amazing ribbon ever!

Sorry to hear that Meghan had to drop out, I did read that on her thread. I'm sure it will all work out. One of my bridesmaids isn't sure now if she's coming - and she already bought a dress and we're only 4 months out! Better to know in advance, right? But for me it's especially weird because she said she will "hopefully be able to make it" but she's not sure. So I don't even know what's going on yet.

If that happens, I will also have a lopsided bridal party. I really don't know what I would do either. I'm also slightly antisocial ;) And don't really have anyone else I would ask, plus it would have to be someone that could fit into her dress! I think it will be fine it is uneven though, better that than asking someone you don't really like or know.

Your girls dresses are so lovely! and shout out to the awesome DIY project you did that will look great in pictures :)

Oops I didn't even see your replies earlier! Thanks girls!!!

So I just wanted to post today because today is EIGHT MONTHS OUT!!!!! I can't believe that, if I had stayed with having an Escape wedding, TODAY would be the day I could book! I would be completely freaking out all day today. While I'm glad our numbers are still small and Escape-like, I'm really glad to be a Wishes bride... just for the piece of mind!

Unfortunately, this has been a really busy week with school and job interviews (I still haven't gotten a job though :( :() that I haven't done a single wedding thing! Last week I tried to get DF to pick out some songs, but he kept getting distracted and looking up random things on youtube. Sigh.

Although, I think we decided to say hell with it and we want a LOST-inspired cake because we are THAT super-cool-not-nerdy-at-all. I have no idea what this LOST inspired cake would look like though. Could I just tell the bakery I want a Lost cake and to surprise me?? Because that's kind of where I am right now.

Blah. I'm kind of grumpy today. I'm SO sick of going on these job interviews for retail jobs I don't really want, but I need a flexible job for the summer because I have to take classes in July and August. The job interview I went on last night was TWO hours long! And I had been in class all day and I was starving and it was just ridiculous. I'm also really grumpy because FMIL and FSIL (Lacy, the bridesmaid) decided that, over memorial day weekend, they want to come to Milwaukee and surprise Chris. Well, that's all fine and dandy, but now I have to keep the secret and go pick them up at the airport, clean the house, AND figure out stuff to do with them while they're here, and I just... I just really don't want FMIL in my house for that long!!!! I'm usually a very nice person, but she's just so MEAN to me! And she's oddly obsessed with DF and I KNOW she's going to be like "oh, we're going to go do this now, I want some alone time with my kids, Jackie, do you mind staying home?" and I have to grin and bear it and BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. And, because Lacy is coming along and I do really like her a lot, I can't make myself scarce because she's really excited about seeing me.

Ho hum. At least the semester is almost over--- keep your fingers crossed that I make it out alive and that I find a job soon?!

Congrats on being 8 months away! But I'm so sorry to hear about all of the stress that you're dealing with. Getting a job is so hard - I have a feeling that retail positions may not want to hire you because you're overqualified (Education wise). I don't know if you have any other retail experience. I applied for a bunch of jobs in retail when I first moved out here and didn't get anything, so I ended up substitute teaching (which I hate).

And I think it's kind of rude for your FMIL to leave you out so she can spend time with her kids. Once you're getting married to one of her kids I would really expect her to treat you more like part of the family, you know? Hopefully you make it through that weekend okay

Ugh, I know I am over-qualified, but the worst part is I have 6 years of retail experience! (I worked retail all through college and high school. I have a love/hate relationship with it.) I do have two second interviews this week though. :)

And thanks for the support!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

LOST inspired cake = awesome!
Anyways, I can't believe your FMIL would do that! It's crazy! Once you're married, you're part of the family too!! I don't think I'd be able to keep my feelings quiet if that were happening to me! Good luck girl, keep your head up!! :):goodvibes

I know, right?!?! <3

-------

So, I haven't done that much wedding stuff lately because I don't have that much to do! I haven't submitted my planning kit yet, but that's only because we can't book our Disney hotels yet. (I think I've mentioned this before, but my grandparents are giving us 10 nights from their DVC, but their home resort is Vero Beach, so we can't book until the 7 month mark.) We have pretty much everything else figured out, except DF is still hemming and hawing over his song choices.

I did, however, make another Centerpiece. I love this one--- notice the Epcot ribbon?!?

photo9.jpg

On that note, why do styrofoam balls cost so much?!? I'm really sick of paying $4.50 per ball (*insert teenaged giggling here) at Michael's, and they're even more at Walmart! I did check the dollar store, but they only had the tiny ones.

Also, I bought this dress for the honeymoon. I'm not sure where I'll wear it yet, but I was in love with it for months and nabbed it when it went on clearance for $20:
L7_ShortFloral_MAHermogeno.jpg
Don't really get why she's wearing that jacket with it though....

In good news, DF's mom sent me a nice facebook message thanking me for the mother's day card that DF and "I" (aka he put my name on it) sent her. So maybe I was just being a little dramatic the last time I posted? It's been known to happen. I'm also extremely stubborn... I suppose I will just make the best of next weekend, and then it will be over, and then I can make DF take me to the zoo!!! (Which, again, I know is random, but Milwaukee residents get into the zoo for free on holidays, and so I have demanded that we go to the zoo on Memorial Day.)

In bad news though, I've been on a bunch of job interviews, and still nothing--- and, honestly, at this point, I'm just not trying as hard. I spent THREE HOURS interviewing for this one retail job (at Lush, in case you're wondering), for a basic sales associate position that probably paid minimum wage, and I STILL didn't get it!! And I have tons of retail AND supervisor experience! It's just frustrating, you know? I've been kind of bummed out about it, and I feel like an unemployed bum. At least it will only be 2 months without a paycheck, but I would have REALLY liked to have made some money this summer. On the bright side, my apartment is cleaner than it has been in months, and my puppy is happy because he only gets left home alone when I go to the gym--- any disbrides wanna come over and keep me company??! :lmao:

Yeah, so like I've said, I haven't done much wedding stuff! I feel like I have everything under control. Is this the calm before the storm???

:yay:You are so creative! Love the centerpiece!!! Also, not sure if I mentioned this or not, but you are getting married on my birthday! Woo Hoo!!!

That centerpiece is one of my favorites! (and I may be biased because I LOVE Epcot!)
Sorry to hear about the job interviews. It took me 3 months to find one when I was laid off, and I had tons of experience. It seemed absolutely crazy to me! Anyways, good luck and keep trying! :wizard:
P.S. I really love that dress! It is going to look great, wherever you decide to wear it!

Thank you!!! The centerpieces are my first foray into craftiness, but they're a lot of fun to make--- and I listen to the Disney Pandora station while I do it, so it's soothing. :)

I am loving all of your centerpieces! How many do you have done so far? And I had no idea Styrofoam balls cost that much! Seems a little crazy to me. The only suggestion I can make is to use a coupon... all of the craft stores (Michael's, AC Moore, JoAnn's) have 40% off coupons every week. That way it would cut the cost almost in half. But then you can only buy one at a time.

Thank you so much! I've done 5, and I'm on my sixth one (which is Minnie-Mouse inspired and I'm kind of in love with it!) And isn't that INSANE?!?! They should only cost $1. I've been using the 40/50% off coupons for those little rock thingies at the bottom--- those are $8 a pop!!! I'll pay the $4.50, but you can bet I'll keep whining! ;)

I normally lurk on wedding PJs, but I was just wondering if you'd looked on eBay for your styrofoam balls? You may be able to get a bulk bag for a lower cost :)

Oohh I just noticed on my ticker I'm 7 and a half months away! That's SO exciting!!! We can book our first hotel stay in 13 days... not like I'm counting or anything...

I've been fairly productive this past weekend (amazing, all the things I can do with school being done for a month!) First up, here are two more centerpieces:

photo11.jpg

This is my "Minnie Mouse" one (kind of obviously!) and it took FOREVER to do. I'm really happy with how it came out, but I was seriously cursing that pretty little mouse under my breath for 5 hours.

photo10.jpg

And, while I hate to toot my own horn, I am in love with this centerpiece. It's Haunted Mansion inspired, and I think it's a rather--- elegant Haunted Mansion, I suppose you could say. I LOVE it! (I guess I am tooting my own horn, huh?? :rotfl2:)

I also fixed up some of my other centerpieces. As I've done more of these things, I've grown rather anal-retentive about white spots on the balls, so I had to touch up my earlier ones a lot. I have 7 out of 12 centerpieces done, and supplies for 4 more. I'm doing a Mickey Mouse one, another one with words, a Cinderella one, and an Ariel one, but I just don't have ANY ideas for my last centerpiece!!! Any thoughts or color combos???

I also picked up some bridesmaid gifts! Now, Becky, DON'T LOOK AT THE NEXT PICTURE!!!!

photo12.jpg

I got her a Coach bag! Isn't it cute?!?!

photo15.jpg

This bag, however, I am completely obsessed with. I bought it for my other bridesmaid, Lacy, but I REALLY want to keep it! :lmao: I decided I'm going to get Richelle, my MOH, a pandora bracelet and a few charms, but I'm waiting to see if they do another free bracelet promotion. I do not, however, have any ideas for groomsmen gifts...

AND, I also picked up these cute little bandanas at Michael's for a dollar each! I don't know what I'll do with them, but that's okay!

photo14.jpg

Whew. Picture overload today! I've also picked up two more honeymoon dresses, but I'll save those for my next update. (Mostly because I'm too lazy to go take pictures of them right now...)

So, this week should be fun--- the 24th is DF's 24th birthday, and the day after is our 6 year anniversary! I can't believe it's been 6 years already--- it feels like yesterday, but it also feels like an eternity, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Also, keep your fingers crossed--- I have a job interview on June 2nd for a tutoring position that sounds PERFECT for me! :) Thanks for reading, girls!

Love the new ribbon pomenders. What size syrofoam balls did you use? I've got one I think it's a 6inch ball that I also used for my tulle pomender and I'm going to test that one out. I'm making something similar for my bridal shower centerpieces. Thanks!!

Awesome bags!!!
Also, LOVE the new centerpieces!! I love all the different ribbons you are using!!! Can't wait to see the Ariel one!! :yay:
