Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

For our door hangers, I went to the DISigns board here and one of the amazingly talented people there created one for me. I printed it out on cardstock, cut it out and glued it together. Maybe you could do that?

I love your dress and the pattern is so pretty!!!:goodvibes

Can't wait to see what you choose for a planning session dress

Thanks so much! I can't wait to SHOP for my PS dress! :lmao:

Love that dress!! It's very pretty!!!

I'm looking for craft things to do as well all of a sudden. Even though I don't have an artistic bone in my body

I'm glad you got an apology!

Right! I'm not too creative either--- I'm much more of a writer, but I don't want to write my vows yet--- I want to write them when we're much closer to the wedding so I can be all reflective and stuff, ya know?

That is a gorgeous dress!

What did you want the door hangers to look like? I'm sure there's a way to design it on the computer if you want to do that, I would just do a test print with your printer on fast draft and then if it doesn't come out right you can modify it from there. There are other options too, depending on how crafty you're feeling (and how many you have to make!) I've seen wooden ones for sale at places like Michael's and you could paint them or decorate them. Or you could use cardstock and get some rubber stamps and stamp a design. I recently saw rubber stamps with the alphabet in the shape of mickey heads in the clearance section at Michael's!

I am going to have to look for those stamps! Okay, so my inspiration for the door hangers is this BEAUTIFUL picture I found on the Internet:

Belle-and-Adam-s-wedding-dance-disney-15547670-541-800.jpg

I want to write "We're here to celebrate... Chris and Jackie's Wedding!" on it. But Chris said it would print out weird and he had to fiddle with it. So, that's my PLAN... but we'll see how that goes.

Love the dress!

Congrats on making the room block! Don't worry about them messing up the day for your free night. I wanted mine on the last night of the trip and they put it on the first night. I sent an e-mail to fix it and it was sorted out within a few days.

Good luck with the next project!

Oohh that's good to know! I keep frantically checking my email!

Oohh yeah. I would LOVE to do that, but I know DF would get annoyed with me if I did (he's a graphic designer). I still have SO much time til the wedding, but I seem to be in "hurry up and wait" mode. Thanks for the idea though! <3

That picture is gorgeous! If he can figure out a way to make it print nicely it will be beautiful for your door hangers :)

I love that pic!

Loving that pic Jackie!

Thanks girls! And I got off my lazy butt and printed it out--- and it prints out well and the fiance OKed it! I think I'm just going to write "We're here to celebrate Jackie and Chris's Disney Wedding" on it, print it out on cardstock, then attach it to this sparkly foam board I've seen at Michael's. I think I'll get some number stickers too and put the date on it. Sound good???

I think that sounds great! They also have actual foam door hangers in the kid's craft section at Michael's. Thats what I did, and just printed out my design on sticker paper and attached it to the foam hanger. It was nice because there was no cutting out! ;) And I'm using rhinestone stickers for hidden mickeys to jazz it up a bit. Just a thought, although your idea will work perfectly! :goodvibes

Oohhh they do? That sounds GREAT! I will go wander around there soon--- and hidden mickeys will definitely be in order. Thanks for the tip!

All right, so this is mostly just a stress/bummed out post--- but, first, some good news.

They finally switched my room at the GF! I was getting a little nervous and I told DF that we were going to have to sleep in the hammocks on the Polynesian beach on the night of the 7th, but he didn't seem to mind that, to be honest. Oh boys... however, now no hammocks for us! My wedding dress is also en route to me right now, and I'm excited and nervous--- but can't wait to post more picture of it when it comes in.

*slight edit in case family tracks down this PJ*

Okay, end of rant. No news on the craft project yet either--- I haven't dragged my butt to Michael's. I kind of want to go today, but I kind of don't want to spend money. Decisions, decisions...

I think when the time comes for me to talk to her, I'm going to say something like "Oh, Becky and Richelle both expressed some concern because you weren't replying to their messages. Is something wrong?" or something like that. I don't want to go on the attack (well, I do, but she can be sensitive), but I DO have to say something, you know?

That's what i would do. Be gentle and concerned about her. If she doesn't have an excuse, then maybe get a little rougher and stress that the other two (and you) need her to be involved and stay in touch. I understand wanting to jump all over her, but she may have something going on that she doesn't want to push on anyone else. :confused3

So, I was wondering if any of you have had to deal with a non-responsive bridesmaid, and what have you done, or even what WOULD you do? I think when the time comes for me to talk to her, I'm going to say something like "Oh, Becky and Richelle both expressed some concern because you weren't replying to their messages. Is something wrong?" or something like that. I don't want to go on the attack (well, I do, but she can be sensitive), but I DO have to say something, you know? GAH!

When my best friend got married a few years ago, I was her MOH and one of her other bridesmaids stopped responding to calls, emails, and messages. She didn't show up for any showers and was half an hour late for dress fittings, which, at a busy David's Bridal, was a big deal (the way the consultant treated four plus size women on a budget was another story). She turned everything Jacquie asked her to do (which wasn't much, really) into a huge ordeal and never did anything she asked her to do. By the time Jacquie realized that she wasn't going to be there for the wedding, it was almost a month before the wedding. Jacquie finally told her that she was out of the wedding, and was thankfully able to replace her with a cousin, who managed to find the same dress in her size so she could just get it off the rack and not have to deal with ordering it and paying for a rush.

Anyway, I say the sooner you talk to her about this the better. That way, you have the time to find someone to take her place, if that's what you want.

I agree with your approach of handling the matter, I think that's the best that can be done. I have one BM that is being minimally responsive - she'll chime in with a one line email or text every few months, so I know the feeling. If for some reason she missed something major, like the bridal shower, or didn't help at all with it, then I would definitely have that talk and reconsider things.

Okay, bridesmaid update! Chris texted his sister (I didn't even ask him to--- I was kind of touched!) and she finally replied to Becky and Richelle, and Chris too. She said she's been going through some problems and she's going away for awhile, but she's sorry she hasn't helped with the bridesmaid stuff, and to let her know if she needs to give money for the deposit. SO, at least there's that, and I won't stress about it for the time being. Richelle and Becky are fine with planning the shower on their own, but I was worried about them fronting the whole cost, you know? (Although, I did whine to my dad yesterday, and he said he'd help them out if it came down to that.)

Whew! Okay, mini-crisis averted as for now, but we'll see how all of this turns out!

Yay! :yay: I'm glad it's worked out for now :) I hope it stays that way so you don't have to stress about it

Thanks girls!

---------------------------------------------

So, this past weekend I FINALLY got DF to make some decisions (it's a very painstaking process, let me tell you) and we filled out our planning kit. I know I posted about song choices awhile ago, but here are the final choices we made. (I'm also not sure if I mentioned this, but we're planning on going with a guitarist for the ceremony.)

Seating: "Glasgow Love Medly" (that song from Love Actually, which is one of my favorite movies ever. Fun Fact about this movie for those of you who watch Phineas and Ferb: Ferb is voiced by Sam from L.A. and Vanessa is voiced by Joanna!!!); "Your Song"; "Medallion Calls" (from POTC); and, if we can find it, "Desmond and Penny's Theme" from LOST. Because we are THAT cool.

And then he finally chose HIS walk-down-the-aisle song--- "He's a Pirate" from POTC! I'm pretty excited about this actually. And I changed my entrance song from the theme of "Wishes" to "Daydream Believer."

We also changed our menu a little bit. Here it is--- it's $75/pp, which I think is kind of a lot for brunch; however, we're not having anymore than 27 people at our wedding, so I think I'm okay with that number.

Cocktail Hour
-Fresh Fruit Display with Honey Yogurt Dip
-Premium Cheese Display with Grapes, Crackers, and Baguette

Brunch Buffet
-Tomatoes, Mozzarella, and Basil with Balsamic Drizzle
- Le Cellier cheddar cheese soup with pretzel and sourdough breadsticks
-Prepared on Stage Penne Pasta Primavera
-Parmesan Crusted Chicken
-Mickey waffles
-Spirit of Aloha mixed greens with mango poppyseed dressing
-Hardwood Smoked Bacon
-Egg Cookery station---omelets
-Brioche French toast with whipped cream (NO bananas foster)
---Juices, tea, coffee

But I think if we have to cut out anything later, I'm going to cut out the cheese display from the pre-reception and just have fruit. Sound good?

AND I started making door hangers. Here's a sample--- I think it's a litttttle cheesy, but cute.

I'm also starting to get really nervous. I really want Belle (in either her Christmas dress or her blue dress, not the yellow one) to come to our wedding, but I know that requires a prop or a background or whatever, and I'm worried it's going to be too expensive. :( We're going to have Mickey there, but I really want Belle there too--- and Chris and I agreed to cut Belle over Mickey, mostly because Belle is pretty much just for me and my princess-ness, but everyone would enjoy a private meet and greet with Mickey. I asked my planner, and she said we'd discuss it at the Planning Session, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna worry about it until then! I've tried scouring the boards for more info, but I couldn't find anyone who had a princess. Have any of you read anything about this??

In good news, I should have an exciting update soon--- I think my wedding dress is coming in today! I can't wait to try it on again and post more pictures and see the glitteryness!

Getting boys to make decisions...ugh! I completely know the feeling!

Great song choices though!!

I think just fruit would be fine!

Cute sample. And I can't wait until you get to get your dress! Awesome!
