Jack Frost Nipped at Our Noses But Not Our Spirits! Day 6 - Tonga Toast & Epcot

Actually Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories so you were sorta right:thumbsup2

I think I read somewhere that LeC is only 2 credits for dinner and 1 for lunch so you can still go for 1 credit you just can't have the coffee rubbed steak at lunch (I could be wrong so don't quote me on this)

We loved our lunch at LeC and I had the creme brulee as well and loved it. I think we will eat there again just probably not next trip. Emma also got the pizza which I was disappointed in

Oh Ya stupid glow toys... I hope you don't hate me forever for not having them right away:headache:

Yay! I guess my memory isn't that bad then, LOL. If it's 1 credit for lunch, we'll go.

It's not your fault. I think with the hotels updating the systems, they lost my stuff along the way.

Wednesday, December 15, 2010.

I awoke with a plan today. I knew that DS Michael wanted to do Jedi Training and the all of us wanted to do TSM, so with my little strategies, we headed to Hollywood Studios today.

When we got there, I was amazed at how everyone goes to the entrance lines straight in the middle and left empty ones to the left and right. Naturally, I would scan for the shortest line and my family and I would jump on it. Most mornings this would get us into the park a little faster. This was one of the mornings that it didn't. Let's talk about the finger scanners. They were a PITA!!!! If you're a little short, for some reason your finger doesn't fall properly on the scanner and you get caught up at the ticket machine instead of cheerily walking into the park. I would say that DD had trouble 4 out of the 7 days we were in the parks. I could see the crowd getting bigger for rope drop so I was getting antsy with the CM who couldn't position DD's finger properly on the scanner. While they were trying to scan her, I asked about signing DS up for Jedi Training Academy and she said I had to do it at Star Tours.

Finally, the machine scans her finger and I starting running to the rope drop. I head to the left to sign DS up for Jedi Training Academy and DH took DD to the right to run to TSM for FP's. I noticed there were some other Moms and their DS's and since I didn't know how the whole JTA thing worked, I figured I'd follow them once the rope dropped. Man, they were moving FAST and with my short little legs I was trying my hardest to catch up while dragging DS behind me. They ran around the bend of Sounds Dangerous and I lost them for a second, but then I saw the Star Wars area. I looked around for a second and couldn't figure out where I was supposed to sign Michael up. I looked for a CM and found one and when I asked he said "right here" and pointed to a line that I was standing right in front of. I hate when I do that. We got on line and by one person, just missed the 9:55 show. Michael had to sign his name saying he wanted to be a Jedi and we were given a ticket to come back for the 10:50 show. I called DH on his phone and asked where he was so that we could meet up again and he told me to meet him by Pixar Place. I started but then got lost (my sense of direction SUCKS) so again, I stopped a CM to find out how to get there.

When we got there, we noticed the Green Army Men were out so we took some pics of them playing with the kids.

DH wanted to see the Prince Caspian attraction next since we couldn't come back to TSM for a few hours and the line was already 90 minutes long. Sheesh. What a waste of time. They need to take that thing out and put something new there.

Next up, we wandered around trying to find something to eat. We went to Starring Roles and picked some bagels, muffins and danishes and used our snack credits for them. I saw the famed red velvet cupcake there but thought it might be a little too early so I declined thinking I would find it again. I never did.:sad2: Right after breakfast, we started walking back to Star Tours to watch Michael in the show. We had to go to the area to the left of the sign-up line and show Michael's ticket. DD Bobbi was with me this time so they asked if she wanted to join and she said no. After waiting around for a few minutes, the CM said they still needed one more person so DD asked if she could do it and the CM said no because she declined the last time. He was a little pissy about it and I just brushed it off and told her we'd do it next time.

By the time we walked over to the stage area, it was packed so we found a spot close to the stage but towards the back.

I was able to record the whole thing. It's about 20 minutes but you'll see a lot of Michael in it. Let me know if the link doesn't work.

To Be Continued....

Jedi training sounds interesting, can't wait to hear more about it. I loved Le Cellier, and had the tomato stack as well. My mom was also not pleased with the soup, but the pretzel bread was delish. I had the mushroom filet and it was to die for. If you go back for lunch, that's what I would reccomend to anyone, even people who don't like mushrooms. I'm sorry it was so cold for CP, I wouldn't have enjoyed sitting in the cold either.

I just realized how stupid of me it was not to write about the JTA and just post a link.

JTA was pretty funny. The "Head Jedi Master" had jokes that some didn't laugh at but then he used the Jedi Mind Trick to make us chuckle. There was a little girl that was soooo cute!! She didn't want to fight Vadar when he came out. The kids were really good at learning their fighting choreography and if they didn't do it properly during their Vadar fight, the Jedi Master would make a quip about it. It was really cute. I think they accept the kids at age 4 so you have to have your little one do it.

Hi there, just finished reading your TR. Great report! As many times as we have driven down the coast we have yet to go to Lady&Son's. We are also huge Paula Deen fans. Did you catch her on Graig Ferguson the other night? What a riot. Looks like we were in the world during part of your stay. So cold. Can't wait to read more.:goodvibes

:welcome:

You have to make a side trip to Lady's. The food is good. I just found the recipe for the chicken pot pie on her website and DD loved it so I have to make it. Be prepared if you go, b/c it is a bit pricey. I didn't see her on Craig. I don't watch a lot of late night TV, but I should have Tivo'd it. I could watch her husband by himself. He reminds me so much of my Dad :littleangel:

On to the TR!! LOL:dance3:

Ok, I realize that I didn't write a lot about the JTA in my last post. The show was really funny and if you have an opportunity to do it, I'd say it's worth it to sign your kids up. Michael had a really great time and I was able to get all the pics of him that were taken by PP downloaded into my account. Here are some amateur pics we took:

Don't forget to click on the link to the video! It was a great show and you can see how well my little DS did fighting Vader.

So after the show is over, we saw the line to have our pictures taken with the Storm Troopers and Vader..

Disney%20Christmas%202010%20533.JPG

and then we took our shortcut down the Streets of America, back over to Pixar Place to get our carnival game on!!

I love TSM! I think it's so much fun and made sure "Santa" got the kids the game for the Wii when it came out. I play it more than they do.:rolleyes1

I think I rode with DS this time around and beat his score, but didn't beat DH's:headache:. I really don't know where this competitive streak comes from.

After TSM, we did the Studio Backlot Tour which I haven't done since I was a teenager. Everytime we came to Disney we would forget to to it but since this was going to be a slow, "do what you can do" day, we decided to go for it. It was pretty much what I remembered but I don't remember walking through the warehouse with the props. Is that new?

Here's me killing my little Snugglebug with kisses..

The disaster shot:

After the tour, we opted to do the Lights, Motors, Action show. The kids and I have never seen this one and we liked it, but it was cold in the stadium!

Since Muppets 3-D was a stone's throw away, we went in. While we were waiting, I saw a baby with a crocheted Mike Wasowski hat and I sooooo want one. I've been looking for a pattern, but can't find one.

After the intro (you know the one where they say move all the way down your row), we get into the theater....and have to climb over some idiots that didn't want to move down to the end:headache:. They need the CM's to carry cow-prods for people like this. Really? How hard is it to wait and if you really want a seat in the middle just hang back a little and follow a big group in? Unless of course, they don't move down to the end either.

Okay, self-righteous rant over.:rolleyes1

Although I was checking my Lines app on my phone and it said the TSM FP's were gone for the day, we figured we'd just check and started walking back into Pixar Place. I was trying to find Mike W and Sully and asked a CM who said "right there". Now right there is kind of tricky. If you're looking for Mike and Sully, they're tucked BEHIND a gift shop so I think it's a little hard to find.

Sully wasn't out but we got on line to take a picture with Mike. He liked DH's bald head:

and my hat:

Photo0580FourBySix.jpg

After taking pictures we headed back into Pixar Place but Toy Story Mania had a crazy wait time and the FP's were definitely gone for the day. We decided to take some pictures with Woody because Buzz was out saving the universe or something like that.

I'm sure DH would love to really strap me to a rocket and send me into outer space.

Disney%20Christmas%202010%20587.JPG

I LOVE DH's shirt here. It's like the Hangover Baby shirt, just with Elmo.

Stinky Pete made a stinky and they couldn't breathe.

By this point we were good and hungry so we headed over to ABC Commissary. The food there is okay. I had the bacon cheeseburger with the fried shrimp on top and that was really good but I remember getting some sort of potato salad on the side (it was yucky) and a fruit cup for dessert and it had mold in it . I couldn't finish the whole burger. The shrimp was like an appetizer and the burger was big.

After lunch, we headed back to Sunset Blvd. I walked into the Starring Rolls cafe figuring now was a good time to get that red velvet cupcake and I didn't see any in the glass case. I asked a CM who said they were at the Sweet Spells shop next door. I went in, waited on a ridiculously long line to find out they didn't look as appetizing as the ones from that morning. Seriously, they were ugly and didn't look like a red velvet cupcake so I declined.

We looked at our times schedule and saw that Beauty and the Beast was about to start to we walked in. Again, this was another show the kids and I hadn't seen so I was excited. I loved it. It was such a great show.

After the show, we took potty breaks and , picked up our Snuggies and blankets from the lockers up front and went on a hunt for Lotso. While we were there, we found Mrs. Incredible and Frozone. Hmmm? What's going on there? We all know Mrs. Incredible has a big 'ole butt and Mr. Incredible was no where to be found. Hope he never finds out....

IMG_20101215_170702.jpg

Right after Mrs. I & Frozone, we walked down to find Lotso. It really is funny how they pump strawberry smell into the room. I walked over to Lotso thinking the smell was coming from him, but his fur smelled like acrylic, LOL. He must have thought I was really weird.

Next up - Part 14 - Day 4, Part 3 - Fantasmic and a late dinner.

By this point, it was getting close to Fantasmic time and we had to hurry back towards Sunset Blvd. Of course we saw that the PP guy was available in front of the Sorcerer’s hat so we had to snap a picture!

The smell of Disney popcorn was pulling me in and I knew we’d want something to munch on during the show so I stopped and purchased a caramel bucket and a regular popcorn bucket with some water bottles for us.

By the time we got to the entrance, they had already started letting people in so we were able to just start walking to find seats. It was packed!!

We headed towards the front of the stadium and got seats all the way up front, towards the left of the stage. It wasn't bad for getting there 30 minutes before the show started.

The Brazilian tour group was there (how could you miss that bright yellow?) and they were getting the party started by doing the wave. DD & DS joined in and in between waves, he kept himself busy by dancing to Christmas songs:lovestruc.

I love Fantasmic. I know a lot of people don't think it's all that, but seeing Mickey fight the forces of evil gets me everytime. I love the music, the storyline, everything.

Here’s a little clip of the beginning. My Playsport was dying so I couldn’t get the whole thing.

Sitting right up against the gate, I don't think we really needed the Snuggies. The fire on the water definitely kept us warm!! LOL

When the show was done, we slowly...S-L-O-W-L-Y made our way out of the theater. I think Disney needs some more exits for this place. Getting out of the theater is excruciating. Since it was dark, we wanted to see the Osbourne Lights so we walked over that way. We really wanted a Photopass picture here but the lines were so long and we had a late ADR at 50's Prime-time coming up, thankfully someone was nice enough to take a picture using my Droid.

IMG_20101215_194011-1.gif

Where'd that huge snowflake come from??:confused3

After looking at the lights for a few, we headed to 50's Primetime to eat dinner. The park was clearing out so it was crowded down Hollywood Boulevard. I went into the camera shop to have the pictures from JTA transferred to my Photopass. When I did this for the Pirate's parade, the CM just downloaded all 200 photos to my account. This time around, the CM felt other people's kids shouldn't be on my account so I had to go through 300 pictures to find the ones that Michael was in.:headache: It took a while.

Off to 50's we go. Our ADR was at 8:20 (late, I know) so we were about 10 minutes early when we walked in. I really love the look of the place. It's really cute. Each section is built around a kitchen table with a tiny tv playing clips of 50's sitcoms. I loved it.

The lounge area to the left was cute, too bad we didn't try it. It looked like a cheesy 50's living room !

The kids were tired but they and DH ordered milk shakes and their dinner. I think I just had a regular soda b/c I didn't want to ruin my appetite. DH had the meatloaf (just okay), I had the fried chicken with the Southern greens (chicken good, I was really getting my cravings for collards, they were yummy). Michael & Bobbi had kids meals. After getting his shake, Michael fell asleep at the table. By the time we finished eating and dessert came, we had maybe 2 bites and just wanted to get out of there. Michael was upset that we didn't wake him for dessert. Bobbi was just glad they waitress didn't make her finish her green beans. She mentioned that she'd like it if the kids ate their vegetables, she just doesn't want them throwing up in the process:scared1:.

When we walked out, the park was a ghost town. It was interesting to see it like that.

We headed towards the bus stops and were stopped by a CM who asked where we were headed. He put us in a queue and we shared a bus with two other resorts. I didn't care, we slept the whole way.

Next up -

Part 15– Day 5, Part 1 – Dole Whip Meet!!

great update!

lol I bet you were not the first person to sniff Lotso! we went to see the animation area, but didn't get in line to meet Lotso... DF didn't want to meet a villain!!

On the backlot tour.. the props room, I think that used to be wear the green screen area was? ... for a while it was where someone would be picked to climb onto a large bee, and they'd film it like a scene from 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' ?

oh and I agree about people not moving to the ends of rows in attractions!! we noticed this so much last trip.. ok, the theatres may not be full.. but keep moving along! we always quote Sam Eagle from Muppets 3D .."It's distinctly unpatriotic"

Emma princess: x

That's a great day at DHS.. we missed F! this trip but will plan for it next trip for sure, I really enjoy it!

It is unpatriotic!! LOL You should have met Lotso. He's a good bear now:laughing:.

That's a great day at DHS.. we missed F! this trip but will plan for it next trip for sure, I really enjoy it!

Our pattern seems to be watching it every other trip so I'm assuming we'll skip it in June.

OK, caught up. I noticed people didn't get the move the end concept. I would stand and say quite loudly, "what part of don't stop in the middle is confusing?" Got some nasty looks from people. I wouldn't step over, and would make them move.

:rotfl2: I would love to see that

Hi! Great TR! You all do get a lot done at Disney. :thumbsup2

Too bad your weather was so cold. Animal Kingdom day looked very cold. When we were there the week before we saw several kids in shorts, which I thought was crazy.

I liked seeing the pictures of JTA. I thought it was very rude of that CM to not let your daughter do it, too. I can't wait til my boys are old enough to do JTA. I think they'd look so cute fighting Darth Vadar.

Looks like you had a great day at DHS. I can't imagine how cold it had to have been at Lights, Motors, Action show.

Great pictures with Mike, I like you hat too.

Sorry about the food at the Commissary, we didn't care for it so don't go there anymore.
We love Beauty and the Beast. Did you smack Lotso for being so mean??

It is great how creative you are in covering up your DH's face, so cute.

We like Fantasmic too, some people love it, some people can't stand it :confused3. We enjoy it. Can't wait to read more.

Thanks! DH laughs at me b/c I researched and researched and researched but when it came down to it and he saw how much we got done, he gave me a swift pat on the back for a job well done, LOL.

I thought the CM could have been nicer about the whole JTA thing with DD. People are allowed to change their minds he didn't have to be a jerk about it, but we're going in June so I'll make sure she does it then.

The little tiny girl on stage did NOT want to fight him. It was so precious the way she shook her head and backed away.

The burger at ABC was good but I was just grossed out by the mold on my fruit. I wasn't going to say anything about it to them but then DH said I should so they could check the other cups. The other ones had mold also:sick:. They asked if I wanted anything else but I backed away and said no thanks!

I loved my hat. I got so many compliments on it and it made me feel so much taller!!:cool1:

:rotfl2: I would love to see that

Me too!! DH would say something, but we'd wind up moving to another row or just stepping over them anyway.

I'm 6 foot, and 210, so I can look intimidating if I need to. :lmao: It really wasn't that bad though. People were pretty quick to follow instructions, I think it was more the CM's yelling at them that got them to move.
When we watched Captain EO, everybody listened, and when I looked one whole side of the theater was empty. Guess we could have moved back, but I was near the middle so I wasn't moving.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

On this day we woke up at a decent hour because we didn't really need to be anywhere fast. I went to the laundromat and washed jeans and hoodies again and took the kids for breakfast at Sassagoula Floatworks. I was THRILLED because the weather was warming up just a little so we didn't have to shiver our way through Magic Kingdom today.

On our agenda was the all important DOLE WHIP MEET and the Very Merry Christmas Party.

I had my old tote bag from Christmas 2008 and filled that with our (freshly washed) hoodies, scarves, hats, gloves, light up toys, bubble guns, the Christmas tees we made at DTD and singing elf hats. Yes, you heard that right. I bought the kids singing elf hats. They were cute, you'll see them later.

Ahem...while walking into the park, DH was trying out the panorama settings on his camera. It's pretty cool. You take a few pictures using the guidelines on the screen and the camera "stitches" them together for you, creating a really cool panoramic shot.

Disney%20Christmas%202010%20594.JPG

He took another of the Christmas tree and Main Street when we got into the park:

Disney%20Christmas%202010%20596.JPG

After taking a few pictures, we wandered over to Adventureland to meet up with Mike & Natalie and their families. Our plan was to meet at the Dole Whip stand at 1 PM. I got there a few minutes early and since the line was getting long, I jumped on and figured I'd try my very first Dole Whip treat while waiting for my fellow Dis'ers to show up. I thought I'd go all in and had the pineapple ice cream with the pineapple juice and DH had the same. The kids didn't want anything from that stand so DH promised them Mickey bars the minute he found them. I think I had texted Natalie to let her know that I was waiting on line. Funny thing is, she was standing on the other side of the building waiting on line. I took the 1st sip and I liked it, but next time I will definitely try the Orange Dole Whip/pineapple juice combination.

I walked over to the other side of the building and saw Natalie and introduced myself and the kids and met her cuties and her Mom. While she finished ordering, I saw Mike and his family and we made our introductions. At this point, DH went in search of Mickey bars for the kids. Natalie, Mike and I chit chatted for a few minutes about the weather, our plans, and then took a picture.

100_0134.jpg

We've decided the Dole Whip could be more perfect with the addition of a shot of Malibu rum. :)

At this point, DH was calling me because Princess Tiana & Prince Naveen were over by Liberty Square and he wanted to have the kids take pictures with them. FYI - He still didn't find Mickey bars....:rolleyes1

I bid my farewells and took the kids to find their father. He was behind LTT in the little garden. Unfortunately, by the time I got there, the line was closed to the current meet and greet and the line was starting to form for their next meet and greet.

I got on line with DD while DH went off in search of Mickey bars (again....). Finally, he came back with goodies for the kids and then he went off again in search of something else :headache:. I think had missed the 1:40 gathering so our time was for 2:05 or something like that. Here are the pics we got of the kids:

I think they were asking DD about her hoodie.
