I've never started a political thread before, but WOW

So you have a hard time with your fibromyalgia. Let's not get into not wanting to, having family obligations, or anything like that. Would you rdiscomfort in using a pen/pencil keep you from running or being president on those factors alone?

:rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry, had to laugh at that. No one could pay me enough to want to be president.

Considering my illness, I don't think I personally would choose to do so because there would be too many days where my limitations would keep me from doing a proper job. It's not "discomfort". Discomfort is something that can be pushed through or solved with Tylenol. When there are days I can't even get out of bed because of the pain, why would I think that I could do a demanding job like that? I wouldn't assume to be able to and therefore I don't.

Phony outrage!

There is a reason I stay off political threads, it's difficult for some people to remember how to be civil.

Well, should Team Obama win, and his domestic and foreign affairs are thought out as well as his commercials, we're all in deep dodo.

BTW, my wife has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia too, and Raynaud's disease.

Then you understand how difficult it can be. :(

I only brought it up to show that I am not dismissing his physical problems because, in some ways, I can relate to him but my opinion still stands on this issue.

My fingers won't stand for more typing tonight though so I'm bowing down to their demand. ;) Thanks for the debate.

Did Obama really mock McCain not being able to send e-mail when McCain can't use a keyboard due to the injuries he received while a POW?:confused3

You don't need a conventional keyboard. I'm sure if McCain was interested, he could get himself one of these:

http://chh.erlm.siemens.de/en/s_nav31.html

If he doesn't know how to use email, it's because he doesn't want to. Age has nothing to do with it. My mother's 88 year-old cousin sends us an email almost every day.

And, really, at some point McCain has to stop blaming his failings on his POW years.

As far as the rightwing getting their panties in a wad AGAIN, tough. They'll over it once they find the new outrage du jour.

Wait....is this poster the winner for trying to play the Bush card? :rotfl:
Who has the trophy?

Okay, then how about August 29, 2005 when New Orleans and the Mississippi coast were under water and people were dying? Dub-ya and McCain were eating birthday cake in hot, sunny Phoenix, Arizona -- totally disconnected from what was happening on the other side of the country were turmoil was unfolding.

Where were his aides and his wife then? You know, the people who have to sit next to him to help him read his email.

I connect them because they are one in the same with regards to disconnect.

My thoughts are:

So what? How many emails do you think the POTUS sits down and sends out anyway? Wouldn't the POTUS have a better way of doing things than email? I do not the GWB emails either. I doubt if Obama is POTUS that he'll be doing much emailing either.

Why would 'not emailing' make you out of touch? Not sure I get that one. Emailing is not the only way of communicating. It isn't like if the POTUS doesn't email daily that we all won't receive our Email of the Day from the President.

My mom is almost 71 and she emails. All of my older clients email. It is a hobby, a way to stay in touch with family and friends who like to email, they play computer games, surf the web and send me FWDs daily, LOL.
My 48yo DH rarely, if ever, surfs the web. He has to do some computer work at his job and that's about it for him. He's 48 and very much "in touch". DD and I usually look stuff up for him. He's just not into computers like some people are.

I really doubt any POTUS is going to spending a lot of time on-line. I am sure there is White House staff that look up what needs to be searched for on the web. That way the POTUS can spend time doing more important things and the important info will be handed to him.
This way, we will not worry about the POTUS surfing the web and not doing his job. Think about the time people spend here who are supposed to be working!

I think it is a terrible ad. A cheap shot, yeah, that too. Whether it was jabbing at his disability and non-use or just a way to say he is out of touch. I think kids these days think you are out of touch if you can't/don't text. Now how many really believe that?

Obviously he knows what's going on so he doesn't feel the need to use a computer.

You just squashed Obama's premise in the ad. Nice!!!

I'm a little disappointed. It took over 150 posts to bring Bush into this tread and then trash him.

You seriously think someone that does not personally send out email is failing?

Yeah, if McCain and Bush personally emailed for themselves, they'd have been checking that email so they could find out what is happening in the world. Yup. I am sure Bush waits on the email to find out all his news.
:sad2: :headache:

I thought about something similar when I typed about the POTUS having someone gather the info and bring it to him so he could attend to more important things in the White House. Clinton came to mind and, well, maybe he should have been finding his own info because he used his free time in the OO another way!  Then, I decded not to bring him up. And now I did. Oh well.

::yes:: ::yes::

Anyone with a half a brain would realize that the ad was referring to the fact that McCain is a technophobe.

Gotta love the phony-outrage-to-avoid-campaigning-on-legitimate-issues strategery....hopefully this time the smart people in America will see through this ploy and vote wisely.

The POTUS should be in touch with what his happening around him at all times -- be it via Blackberry, email, texting. whatever... Especially with all of the terrorists out there lurking behind every bend and are out to get us. :rotfl2:

All the venom and hatred from the left is going to cost you the election. Mark my words.

The point of the ad is John McCain is out of touch. Which he is and you can add laziness and a lack of interest in the brave new world around him.

McCain's POW injuries would have zero impact if he really wanted to use a computer. A man with his kind of money could hire Steve Jobs to personally design one. He doesn't want to because he's as intellectually lazy as his clone, George Bush. And we can all see where that got us.

Save the word twisting for somebody else. This child feels no reason to defend themselves against every distortion. YMMV.

Please don't tell me you think the POTUS makes every decision on their own?! They are surrounded by a ton of staff members. I dont think they're [POTUS] up late at night googling for info.

It is FOS.....Faux Outrage Syndrome. It is the same syndrome many get after being wished "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas".

They can't help it, it is a disease. They would get cured, but their insurance doesn't cover it.;)

What venom and hatred was contained in the post you quoted? Oh yes....I forgot pointing out facts is now called venom and hatred....:rolleyes1

I was actually talking about all the hatred thrown out by your party in the last few weeks (since Palin was chosen for VP).
