I've had it with mommies in the CHANGE ROOM at the pool!!

Seriously? NO ONE? Where do you work out, a Mormon gym?:rotfl:

OP, that would make me beyond angry and I would have gone off on the woman

I'm Mormon and we don't own a gym. (Anymore. Had one, but closed it down over a decade ago)
I've been at pools and gyms where there weren't separate stalls to change so it's all one huge room with just a few row of benches. I had no problem quickly changing among a bunch of other guys, I just went as quick as possible and avoided looking around as I did.
Now if a guy brought a girl that looked about 5+, I'd probably voice an objection. So, yeah, I'm with you OP.

No I work out in gyms that provide plenty of privacy, there is no need for anyone to stand there naked. I don't want to be around anyone naked, and most people I know have no desire to strip in front of anyone. I don't know where you guys work out, but it hasn't happened in my life, and I hope it never does. :confused3

ETA: What does being Mormon have to do with privacy? Do you work out in a low class gym that doesn't have enough money to provide privacy?

:rotfl2: you kill me

We have way more than that. I don't care who is looking or not looking, I will not stand there and strip, and I don't know anyone personally would OH and in middle school, we were never naked, underwear and bras sure but not naked.

I have never seen a naked woman in our locker room and I have been there for 15 years. Lots of people taking showers. and getting dressed for work, and not one naked body the whole time. I am sorry yours doesn't provide privacy, mine does.

Now, you all can continue to argue about the little boys in the women's locker room, which is TOTALLY unacceptable.

Don't feel sorry for me; this has been a non-issue for me since middle school or before. We're all just people either finishing or starting our workouts. We come in all shapes and sizes. It's all good.

on the gym issue I never change in the gym, the other men would feel inadequate if they peeked at me :p

As for the women bringing in older boys, that is what the family rooms are fro.

As for people being nude and changing in front of each other at the pool changing room. No big deal. All women, girls change there, nobody is staring. It's no big deal. Nudity is nothing to be ashamed of. I will not teach my girls that they need to hide their bodies:confused3

I don't consider myself an exhibitionist or a voyeur. But, I belong to a gym, and go regularly. Every single time I go, there are women changing and walking back and forth to the showers, etc. Yes, they are naked. I don't even think about it. I guess I would find it odd in the extreme to belong to a gym where there WEREN'T naked people in the locker room. What's it for?

I use to take my kids to swim at the YMCA when DS was about 8 years old up until last summer. He had to enter through the men's locker room to get to the pool and after we swam he took his dry clothes and towels and went into a bathroom stall or shower stall... his choice, and changed into his dry clothes. He knew to not drop his dry clothes on the floor and to make sure he brought out all of his wet stuff and his towel.

It never occurred to me to even take him in through the women's area.

I am not sure what the rules are exactly at the Y. I know they don't have a family changing room at ours. They just have the men's and the women's.

But I never got naked out in the main locker room either. I changed in privacy and I wouldn't want to see other ppl naked either.

And as for not teaching our kids to hide their bodies...UM. Yeah I will teach mine that they do need to keep their naked bodies private unless it is with their significant other or spouse.

Kids don't have to shower in front of each other at school. And if they change for P.E they can change in private.

I believe in teaching (especially girls) modesty and self respect.

But in the case of the OP I never would have let that slip with the first mom let alone the second mom. I would not have been able to hold my tongue. I would have told them exactly what I thought about little 10 yr old Johnny in the locker room with naked ladies.

I encountered this same situation at a water park last summer. The boy was easily 10 years old and was standing outside a shower stall that his mother was in.

I stood outside the shower and asked the mother to please have her child either join her or leave the locker room, his presence made me uncomfortable and my 14yr old DD was mortified. The mother at first ignored me but I kept asking and eventually she told her son to go stand outside the restroom and wait for her.

Several women thanked me. There is no reason for a child over 4/5 or so to be in the ladies locker room, none.

The thing that was so annoying was the mother was in the shower with the curtain closed, she had her kid standing on the other side of the curtain. He could see everyone in the locker room but not his own mother. IMO if she was so worried that he had to be in the ladies room, he should have been in the shower area with his mother behind the curtain.

I agree. We always changed in locker rooms down to underwear, but if anyone was getting totally naked we did it in the stall or shower. I would never feel comfortable being naked in front of others, even family, and I don't want to look at anyone else either. Like some one else said, look at your locker, change quick, be done. I'd never be comfortable if girls were just hanging out naked taking their time.

Luckily, I've never had that issue where I live. We don't seem to have any stall shortages and most people around here are more conservative than I am. On the other hand, as long as its only down to underwear, I've never had an issue sharing a changing room with guys if needed.

But I totally agree, in this situation, the boys shouldn't be in the girls locker room, especially when there are family rooms. The OP has done nothing wrong and has every right to be upset. It's the moms who are in the wrong by bringing their boys into a place where women change when they have other options. No one should be forced into a stall or shower who doesn't want to be there. It's a changing room, what do those mom think is going to be taking place, hair-bradding?

Our city pools have an age limit of 7 for opposite sex in the locker room. Once they hit 7 they have to be in the right locker room.

.

I have belonged to a few different gyms over the years and in EVERY ONE of them there were naked women in the locker rooms!

Lots of naked women in the locker rooms at pools in my area. The only privacy is in the toilet stalls, all the other areas are open. I was so glad when they got family dressing rooms!

When my boys were little, they got dressed and went to the bathroom before we went to the pool and came home in their wet suits!

The gym I belonged to years ago had a few changing rooms for those who chose to use them but never enough to handle everyone who
might be in there during a busy time. Most women walked from the shower area to their locker wrapped in a towel, got their clothing out and quickly got dressed. I don't recall anyone parading around, shimmying their lady bits or doing a pole dance. ;)

That being said, there was a brief period of nudity and female underwear until clothing was applied. In a gym that has a family changing room... Well that is where those who have their families with them should be.

OP, next time it happens, a simple "the family changing room is over there. They installed it to address your concern about your adolescent son seeing naked women in the women's locker room." Then go about your business.

I belong to a YMCA that has a pool. The main way from the pool to the mens locker rooms is through the shower room. There are no private shower stalls. They put signs up a little while back that asked you to please cover yourself when children are present. Not children of opposite sex just children period. I am not gonna stop my shower and run and get my towel each time chidden come walking though. Especially when there are two family changing rooms available directly off the pool area. There are are no private dressing rooms either. Its all open.

I expect things like what happened to the OP used to happen at our local Y, because it now has five (yes five) different locker rooms - women's, men's, girls', boys', and family - and there are clear ages posted on each door. It was like that when we joined, so I'm not sure when they were divided up.

That's why at my gym, there's a note posted about opposite sex children over the age of 4 not allowed in the locker room. They are suppsoed to use the family cahning room/bathroom that's in the nursery area.

Ditto. Basic rules - no child of the opposite sex over x years, no camera phones/cameras, etc.
