I have to share, or I'll burst! So what better place to share a secret, than with 65,000 of my closest friends?
Many of you know my life's been a little crazy this year. What with the soon to be ex- pretty much losing it, and the frantic move out of state, etc.
Well, my DD (almost 14) has adjusted fairly well, but she's been having some problems with typical middle school cattiness. One of the girls who lives near us has been spreading some nasty untrue rumors, etc. DD was hysterical last week, and I worked out an approach with the school to try to stop it, but that's not the point here.
Last week, I was going through my briefcase, and pulled out the southwest vouchers that I had from a cancelled trip for my in-laws. I knew they were there, and had planned to use them to fly the kids and me up to visit soon to be ex-, but he never got the supervised visitation thing together. What I hadn't realized is that they expire the end of this month!
I called a friend of mine in MD who's having lot of stress right now to see if she wanted to fly down for a visit. She wasn't able to get away, but she said "Why don't you call DD's buddy and see if she can come?"
A couple of clandestine phone calls later, and it's all set! DD's bday is on the 27th. My kids are on spring break the week of the 20th, so we're going to WDW. DD's friend is flying into MCO Friday afternoon (24th), and I'm going to tell DD that I got her a special birthday present, but the only place that had it was the MCO Disney store, so we'll detour through MCO on the way home to get it. I can't WAIT to see the look on her face when her present turns out to be her best friend!!!
The friend will stay through the weekend, and I'll take her to the Tampa a/p Monday when I have to fly out for a work trip anyway.
The funniest thing is that last night, my kids were talking about their summer camps. They are both going to camps back in the DC area, at their request. DD is going to Girl Scout camp with this girl who's coming to visit, and she was talking about "When I go to MD for summer camp, and xxx (her friend) comes to get me at the airport, I'm going to scream so loud you'll be able to hear it in FL Mom!" Little does she know, I'll be there to hear it in person, in 2 weeks!
