"I've Got Some Bad News and Some Worse News!" 11/14 Last chap!

Yay! You finally got some pictures up! :cool1:

Also, can't wait to hear more about the wedding plans!

Haha I am laughing sooo hard at the booger picture! I had a suspicion all along by the description, but now its confirmed! That vehicle is the same as the one my in-laws drive. On a daily basis. They think its the best thing ever. I secretely call it the "stalker/rapist" van since it too has been repainted and is just all one color. No stripes or pizazz lol. I hate that thing and everytime I ride in it I hope that no one I know sees me!

For a vacation vehicle, perfectly fine. It is huge! But not for everyday lol.

Dawn -

Only you could make the first hour of a trip fabulous! I was holding my breath to see how long it would take for the Jeep to sink into the road. But you were right. Better to let Treyner find out himself.

Speaking of Treyner. I don't know why kids have such a hard time approaching teachers/professors when there is a legit issue. My kids always balk at speaking with the teacher even when the outcome is sure to skew in their favor. I hope they learn this lesson soon.

So I am waiting for the installment of your ghetto fabulous ride in the booger. You know, there still are a lot of boogers on the road. That and the VW bug are the two vehicles that simply keep on going......and going......and going. Personally, I hate to get behind a booger cause I can't see a darn thing, but I bet they are fun to drive with their panoramic view!

First off -- Congrats!!! Sounds like wedding plans are coming along nicely.

Loved the first installment of this trip report. I really do enjoy reading what you write.

I bow down to the ghetto-greatness of the Booger! I drive a mini-booger -- it's even about the same color. But nowhere near Booger status.

Soooooooooooooo happy for you!!!!! WTG Dan!!!! Photography is such an important part of a wedding day!!!
Could not agree more! The photos I will spend my childrens inheritance on I am sure!! ;)
I am sitting here with tears running down my face at your grandfathers words he passed on to you.... So touching and the love they shared...wow:goodvibes
Tracy
They are always my inspiration to be a better person, mom and friend to anyone.
I sat down and read all of your reports today. I was literally laughing at loud (and my dog was looking at me funny!). You have such a great family. Can't wait to hear more stories!

Jill in CO
Hi Colorado!!! :cool1: I hope you found it worth your while to read the other reports! Either that or you are a sadist!!! :lmao: Thanks for reminding me I need to put this one up in my links in my signature! :worship:
Congratulations Dawn, I am so excited for you! Are you going to wear a dress? That will be fun to pick out. :)
Yup - but I will not show the dress here till after since Dan reads and it will be a surprise. Heck, right now it is a surprise to me although I have some ideas!!! :rotfl2:
And - yes - you are a great writer. It is a gift to put words together seamlessly and to elicit the gamut of emotion in your readers. You got it girl!
Yes but you can sing and write. I sound like a frog in heat when I sing! :scared1:
I have to second that about Britts. We have a place at Kure Beach and love to get doughnuts there. Hands down they beat Krispy Kream. Now back to your T. s0 I can catch up.
Ok!! I will do a full review of Britts next summer!
Congrats Dawn! So excited for you!! :goodvibes
Thanks to you and all the others for such nice words! It means a ton to us.
I just LOVE it when kids are wrong and have to suck it up and tell the parents. Oh it makes my day
He is doing a lot of that since he is on his own! It makes me want to love him more!!
Also, can't wait to hear more about the wedding plans!
Yes you will hear about it soon!! ;)
Haha I am laughing sooo hard at the booger picture! I had a suspicion all along by the description, but now its confirmed! That vehicle is the same as the one my in-laws drive. On a daily basis. They think its the best thing ever. Who would think A Booger is the best thing ever? I mean ours was a steal and we have driven the heck out of it so it was a great deal...but not as good as a great deal on a Lamborghini!!!
For a vacation vehicle, perfectly fine. It is huge! But not for everyday lol.
I know tell me. I have been driving the gas hog for a few weeks now as we are deciding what to do with another vehicle we have that needs some repairs and I just told Dan that we needed to make a decision this week because it is too huge just to be a grocery getter!

The great thing is nothing can happen to it as far as spills etc., to make it be worth less money than it is now and my Dad is moving into an apartment next week so we can take the back seat out and not rent a moving truck. So it has a ton of legit purpose to it but man is it UGHHHHHLLLY!!!

I bow down to the ghetto-greatness of the Booger! I drive a mini-booger -- it's even about the same color. But nowhere near Booger status.

Ohhhh....look at the cute lil boog!

Makes me want to get a bumper sticker that says "My Booger can squash your booger!" :rotfl:

More wedding tadoo!

For those of you who like looking at rings:

Here is my engagement ring:

That gives you an idea at least.

Wanted a band but could never find one that was not too high or it would have square diamonds etc...

Then we found the ones yesterday and here is what the finished product will look like next year! Please excuse the nail! Not my best manicure day! Was in a hurry to get it fast because I was not supposed to take a pic but I did anyway!!! Thank Goodness for layaway and great deals!!! I am so ecstatic about the way the end product will look! More than I could have dreamed it would be like!

Great first installment Dawn! I just love when kids have to admit that we were right!
I'll be honest, the booger isn't as hideous as I had expected it to be! But it's definitely worthy of its name!
I like Leah's idea of marking each day with the picture! I'll have to remember that in case the date stamp on the camera goes out!

OOOOH GORGEOUS RING!!!!! Is that sapphire? I LOVE sapphires!! BEEE YOOO TEEE FULL!

Oooooooooooooooooooo I can't wait til I get home so I can see pictures!!!! Stupid work and its stupid filters!!!!

My boyfriend's family used to have a green Ford Aerostar. Then his mom got mad one day, pulled over, yanked the door open to scream at the kids, and when she slammed it shut, it never opened again. He said it was always great entertainment to watch the spectators as 10 kids would climb out of the front seat.

LOVED the installment. And the ring.

When I was younger, our neighbors/best friends' son got a jeep. He drove it EVERYWHERE. Literally, he would drive it to come over to our house. Then one night a tree fell on our house (we knew it was coming down, just didn't know when, so no major damage). A minute later he's at our door asking if everything's ok, and my parents say sure, but can he take me over to their house. He says.........

"I don't have my car." :faint:

Apparently he heard the tree fell and envisioned us trapped underneath piles of rubble or squished...I don't know. Mom gave him the keys to her car. But we made fun of him for years after that.

The Booger is just as I anticipated ;) Love the missing whitewall on the right front tire and the dice door lock :rotfl2:
Oooooooooooooooooh I love your ring! I want to get engaged now :rotfl2: That is just my taste!! So pretty

Tracy

Your engagement ring is beautiful and the band makes it even more so. It's amazing how it all fits together so well.

Terri

:lmao:

Love it!

Great first installment. I read your stuff and wanna be the kind of mom you are when my boys get to be teenagers. Awesome move on encouraging Treyner to call his prof, and awesome move on letting him find out the hard way that his Jeep didn't have the stamina to pull the U-Haul.

Just goes to show you ....bigger balls aren't always better!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear more!!! MORE MORE MORE!!! popcorn::

I love your ring!!! I am sad that we don't get to see your dress, but I suppose that it is a good reason. :) Did Dan pick that out?? Way to go Dan! If not, it is so beautiful, and BIG! We don't see that here in Podunk-ville very often. Really, I love it though, absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful ring set. Hope you have many happy years. Don't you love it when mom is right. Your right you have to let them make the choice and live with it good or bad then try not to say I told you so. Tonight we packed DD to take her back for her last semester(YEA!!!) I"ll help with her stuff as she drives a Couger (wouldn't listen and get small SUV) so most is packed in the Tahoe. Anywho great 1st day. Gotta love that little sis got to drive his Jeep, hope she had a great time doing it.

Beautiful! I love how it looks with the band.

I'll be honest, the booger isn't as hideous as I had expected it to be! But it's definitely worthy of its name!

If you thought it might look worse...know that the sun helped reduce the rust spots along the floorboards and elsewhere! :lmao:
I like Leah's idea of marking each day with the picture! I'll have to remember that in case the date stamp on the camera goes out!
I thought it would be a great way in the future of doing something goofy with the kids etc. to mark the day.

When I have grandkids...I already have a plan for their birthdays. Saw it on Oprah 8 years ago and have held onto it since.

If it is a girl, get a dress from Mom (even a wedding dress) and each year, take pics as she grows into it. If it is a boy, take on of Dad's white long sleeve dress shirt and do the same. Amazing pictures and she also planted a tree the day her kids were born and put that in the pic as well. The tree grew, they grew, the clothes looked crazy the first 3 years and then slowly, not so much. She hung the clothes in drycleaning bags (she had a vintage dress from her grandmother) and only were touched that one time a year. The kids were now 18 and 20 and they said it was a neat special thing they did to mark their birthdays and they always looked forward to it.

The lady who had this idea also took one pic a day of her kids for the first 3 years. More on holidays etc., but was always amazed at the fact people have 40 pics for one month like Christmas and then not many for another 4-5 months etc. It was so cool to see her flip through the pictures and really see the child growing.

OOOOH GORGEOUS RING!!!!! Is that sapphire? I LOVE sapphires!!
Yes it is. It looks really dark in the picture with the bands but is actually more the color of the ring in the box.
Oooooooooooooooooooo I can't wait til I get home so I can see pictures!!!! Stupid work and its stupid filters!!!!
Hope you liked it!

That cracked me up! Poor lady gave birth to the death of her!! :lmao:

The Booger is just as I anticipated ;) Love the missing whitewall on the right front tire and the dice door lock :rotfl2: The dice was all Baylor's idea and Dan figured no big deal and bought them. There were none when we bought the van so we needed something but again, I was like, "Really?"
Oooooooooooooooooh I love your ring! I want to get engaged now :rotfl2: That is just my taste!! So pretty
I loved Princess Diana's engagement ring and always knew I loved sapphires as well and like I said, love the way it will all come together more than I could expect!
Tracy

Terri
Thanks!!! I had thought of just getting one but they had 2 there on sale that were identical and Dan said it looked odd with just one so he insisted I try it on and then there was no going back!:lovestruc
Gorgeous ring Dawn ...just beautiful!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2
Thanks!!! Now I am just starting to realize how much has to be paid for before next July plus Carsyn's grad party in June!! :scared1: Hence the fact if I am not on here as much you know I am working double time!!!:rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear more!!! MORE MORE MORE!!! popcorn::
I should be able to get the rest of Day 1 done tomorrow! Business meeting tonight and this afternoon visiting my Dad and taking Dan to eye doc for appt and pick out glasses that do not make him look like someone out of the 80's!!! He usually wears contacts but he needs a back up!!
Did Dan pick that out?? Way to go Dan! If not, it is so beautiful, and BIG! We don't see that here in Podunk-ville very often. Really, I love it though, absolutely beautiful.
He and I had looked at rings on and off for a long time but we saw that one as we were mall walking and literally both of us, tripped to stop and go back. It was the most amazing ring either of us had seen and just wowed us from the case in the window.

Then he went back later and got it. I was not expecting it so soon at all. He also had the idea to get 2 bands!!

Gotta love that little sis got to drive his Jeep, hope she had a great time doing it.
She did and he was sweating the whole time!! :rotfl2:
Congratulations! How exciting for you.
Thanks we are excited!! Things never go this easy for me though and it almost scares me how fast everything is falling together the right way.

I am not walking under any ladders for a year!!! :rotfl2:

Dawn - I'm so happy things are going well for you and your family.
Love the picture ideas! When my kids were babies, I took a picture of them on the date of their birth each month for the first year. So like the 9th of every month. Then i did a scrapbook spread over two pages with their first year in review. My mom had saved some of my baby clothes, and I had both of the girls' first formal picture taken in the same dress I wore.

I like the growing into the dress idea. Wish I'd heard it sooner. Although it's never too late to start.
