Not wishing to dampen Sharon (Drennen's) celebrations over her glaucoma scare, I too have been dreading this week.
I have had a "lump" on my leg for . . . well, as long as I can remember. Only end of last year I began to notice it had got redder. My Mother suffered skin cancer on her face (sun worshipper, you see
) and I was absolutely plain terrified this is what the lump on my leg was.
So I eventually plucked up courage in March to see the Doctor who told me she didn't think it was anything to worry about as it had not grown or changed shape, but she'd refer me on to the specialists anyway.
Well, after many cancellations (good old NHS hey
) my appointment finally came through today and yep, it's a dermo(somethingorother) - probably caused many years ago by an insect bite. Apparently they're VERY common (trust me
) on ladies legs and mens shoulders
.
I was - between you and me - absolutely terrified they were going to do biopsy and tests etc . . . I still remember my poor DM's butchered face now. I thought I'd be going to WDW in 2 weeks time with not only a crippled foot, but hacked leg and no sitting in the sun.
But I can now sit in the sun, walk in the sun (I always wear suncream - let my DM be a warning to you all, all joking apart
) - do whatever I want in the sun
Phew - like Sharon, now I can REALLY get on with looking forward, even if I'll be hobbling on the old poor foot. I don't care, COS I'M GOING IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS and I'm gonna blooming well enjoy every last second of it with my DH and DD
