I've come to realize something

I am really really bad at conversations.

I'm just not good at them. Specifically over IM. People say "hi" I reply. They say "whats up" I say "nothing really, what about you" they reply with the same. then it dies.

I always hit that awkward pause in the conversation, and everything dies.

anyone else really bad at talking?

I do that all the time when I'm on IM.
I couldn't hold up a conversation for anything.

Especially over IM.

With my one friend,she usually IM'S me and stop's talking to me after I answer "What's up?"

I really don't know what to say to entertain people.Or atleast to make the conversation last 10 minute's or so.

if I have something to talk about, i skip the whole "hi, how are you" thing and just start talking. its much less awkward, I've found.

Yes, unless I'm really good friends with the person, then I always have something to say. Actually, it really depends on if I have something to tell them, or just want to talk.

It depends on who you are. Here's some examples
Best Friend; We've always got something to talk about. Once one topic dies down it's the other person's turn to come up with one. We constantly email.
Mackenzie; She and I could talk forever on IM.
Jenny; She and I have akward conversations. I'm not very good at talking to her on IM.

Phone
It also depends on who you are;
Best Friend; He hates talking on the phone. Every once in a while i'll get a good phone convo. with him. I hate calling him. Its just... akward.
Mackenzie; Always gets off of the phone fast.
Kathie; I could talk to that girl for HOURS on the phone. In fact, I have!

In Person
This one... has a lot of factors it depends on. Can't quite give examples here.

On AIM, it depends on the person, really. I'm usually afraid I'll end up getting them mad.
On the phone, it's not awkward, because I only call my friends.

I'm great talking over AIM/text. I never run out of stuff to talk about. Face to face and on the phone- that's another story. I get shy on the phone and can never speak correctly.

on AIM, phone or in person I can't hold a conversation for anything but i can hold a conversation with my 2 best friends and thats only because we known each other for a long time.
I'm really shy though so i don't really talk and thats what makes it awkward and then the long pause[10minutes or more] comes in, then the person i'm talking to usually says i'll call you back or talk to you later but never do. so yeah i'm really bad at talking.

I have always had a problem starting conversations. On the phone when I talk to one of my quieter friends, we are quiet for a while, then we kinda open up. Then we get quiet...then repeat process.

Eh..things don't get akward, but it makes me mad when people just IM me to say hi, and then leave, or don't reply.

I can't keep a conversation going at all. I'm just boring. Especially in person, I'm just the loser who sits there and listens to everyone else.

I'm horrible, horrible at talking.

A lot of the time, I'll see something on television, or read something and I’ll try to retell the story to someone. But I can never find the right words and they wind up saying "That's great, I have no idea what you're talking about." in an un-amused tone. And when I try to explain it over again, they get exasperated and tell me that frankly, they really could care less.

I always find myself telling someone something stupid and pointless like something my brother said over dinner that I thought was worth mentioning. Apparently, it wasn't. They give me a blank look, or a "What an idiot" look and I just lose interest in talking because I feel so awkward. Or if I decide to find a point to the story, or change subjects, the person I'm talking to tunes me out or just starts talking to another person. What I'm saying isn't worth listening to.

And, there's also points, where I screw a sentence up so much, the person I'm talking to, gives me a dirty look and asks me what the hell I'm trying to say.

Btw, those two paragraphs were taken out of an essay I had to write for a project.

We both say high and whats up. If its my best friend she'd start saying something and I'd reply and maybe lead on to something else. I'm not good at astarting conversations but once one is started I'd do fine.

Yeaa that happens to me alot but it really depends on who i'm talking to if i IM someone who i have nothing in common with we dont even go to what's up we just say hi but if its one of my really good friends i end up going on forever once i get going on some topic we can relate to
