Both my dd's 4 and 2 were terrified. :earseek: Actually, a lot of the kid were, all I could hear were screaming and crying and a lot of parents were walking out. We actually had to walk out as well and quite a few kids were unconsolably (mine included) and cried for a few minutes even once we were outside. I thought it would be a little scary but I had no idea. Keep this in mind for those of you with young one's . This was one of the first 3d attractions that we did and DD4 would not have any part of the others that I think she would have enjoyed had she not been freaked out by the bug one. I asked a CM at Philharmagic if any part was scary and he said no, it's too funny to be scary but as soon as the lights dimmed and it started DD4 started to cry. DH took her out and I watched it with DD2 who liked it a lot. By the way, it's a great show, try not to miss it. DD4 also cried in the muppets 3d movie and I had to take her out. We managed to calm her down for the Voyage to the Mermaid attraction.

You might want to save the bug one for last or skip it if you think your child will be the least bit scared.

I couldn't agree more. Sit as far left as possible, when Hopper comes out the screaming begins! When my ds was 4 he freaked out over Hopper, he's 6 now and still won't go to see It's tough to be a bug. Dh sat at the exit with ds our last visit while I watched with dd's, he said it was incredible how many people had to take their kids out.

How true. It's funny but I guess it just depends on the kid. We haven't done Philharmagic yet, but with the other 3d or 4d attractions the reaction varies. My dd8 hates tough to be a bug, and honey i shrunk the audience. she also is just getting over a dislike of loud noises(fireworks and canons on pirates). also, she refuses to ride any water rides. On the other hand, my dd3 loves to be splashed with water, fireworks, and will probably love tought to be a bug(last time we were there she was 12 mo). We are definitely not doing stitch(i don't even think i would like it). I brought a little keychain flashlight when dd8 was 3 and let her light it up when she wanted. we also had earplugs for her. Just try to be prepared as much as possible. Not everything at disneyworld is for everyone no matter how old they are.

I will definitely have to bring ear plugs next time. you dd8 sounds like my dd4. She is okay with water rides but the dark and loud attarctions....forget it. We even had to leave illuminations! She covered her ears and close her for almost everything!

My son didn't like this either (he was 3 at the time). He was fine in all of the other 3D shows (Philharmagic, Muppets, Shrunk the Audience) even though he didn't wear his glasses, but this one he HATED. He didn't cry but was whining and climbing on me. He'll be 5 next time we go but I don't know what we will do. The only problems we had the whole trip were when 1) there was fake smoke, 2) there was fire and 3) getting splashed in our faces. I think I remember Tough to be a Bug had both smoke and water mist.

Are my kids weird or something? Both of them, 3.5 and 7 months at the time, loved this show. DS3.5 did jump up when the bugs "left" at the end, but it was more out of surprise. How funny. And he doesn't like fireworks unless he know there from a distance.

Not weird, just different. My DD3 is like your kids(fearless). My DD8 is just sensitive. But knowing that, we plan accordingly so we don't have to have a "freak out" moment. She's getting older now and understands that sometimes we have to do things that other people want to do so she deals with fireworks. But as for the 3D/4D stuff, we just don't do it. It's not that big of a deal to us anyway.

My dd who was 2 during our last trip was afraid of the shows so, we went in them in the middle of the day after she fell asleep in the stoller. She slept through the shows in the cool a/c and no one else had to miss them.

My DS then 4 did get scared at the beginning of the show but I whispered to him "Isn't that funny" and laughed a little and he calmed down and enjoyed the rest of the show.

His favorite part was at the end of the show when the roaches leave and he saw his mommy jumped up and scream all by herself. I was the only one not paying attention and it scared the heck out of me! :rotfl:

We carried our scared and crying 6 year old out, but at 8 - she loved it.

It is scary for the little ones.

My 8 yr. old screamed and started crying with the bee thing, but my 5 yr. old had a small backpack on & didn't get poked, so she was okay.

I bet. I was alittle surprised and freaked out by it myself. I can totally see how it could scare some kids.

I agree! My just-turned-six daughter was TERRIFIED in "It's Tough to be a Bug". She sat on my lap, head buried in my chest, crying. It took her about 30 minutes to calm down once we got outside. If I could've escaped, I would have. I was so glad we were on the end so it didn't disturb others too awfully much.

Just for comparison: On the same trip, this child rode in the front seat of Space Mt. with her hands in the air! She can take fast, twisty turny rides, but she can't handle scary stories or pictures. I think that's fairly common for children this age.

The funniest part of Bug, however, was that my husband SCREAMED LIKE A GIRL when the "bugs and roaches" left the seats first at the end of the show!

my dd princess: was afraid when we watch all the movies, but she found out that she was less afraid with out the glasses on.so every time we saw a movie ,she just would not wear the glasses.

My dd6 and ds3 were afraid as well, my son had SI so I think that was mostly the problem for him. We did not leave though, they both wanted to stay. Theu did cry alittle and scream along with others, but at the end when the bugs leave the room under you both of them came unglued! That was it they were running for the door!

I thought it was a great show, very well put together!

My DS4 at the time also hated this. When we went again he was 7 and he insisted that he would be alright and wanted to try this again. Our smallest DD was 4 1/2 and we didnt know what her reaction would be. Well, my DH had to leave with DD and my DS was SCARED AGAIN and was in my lap. I dont think we will be doing this again for our Nov. trip. It is very loud and my DS(now almost 10) does not like loud noises and he hates the feelings you get from the smells, bugs scurring out, etc. We took earplugs last time and will take them again, but will not do Its Tough To Be A Bug. Maybe when he's in high school we will try again -LOL. :flower:
