Sorry gang I have been told once to often my threads are off topic and are generating more problems than good.

I tend to agree with them, my world is comedy, not really collecting. Since I was a little boy my purpose in life was to make others smile and laugh, but lately I have done nether here. I have cause more turmoil, than make anybody laugh or smile. This is a collector’s board and not the comedy hour, and I can respect that.

Since I don’t really collect that much, I’m as much out of place here as Disco dancing at a rap contest. I write funny and comedy, so there really is not much more I can do here.

Now relax I’m not gone, just moved that’s all, I’ll be trying my comedy over at the community boards since the mean one is over there to keep an eye on me. :teeth:

There have been troubles in the past, and I hate that I was the cause of it; I for one do not want to be the cause of any more problems so I feel it is in every ones best interest that I move on.

And with that said, it is my sad duty to say that I am leaving the collectors boards, and moving on. I just want to thank everyone for the fun, the memories and want to wish each and every one of you the best that life can offer. The friendships that I made along the way were awesome inspiring and I would not trade them for anything. Keep collecting, but just don’t collect those nasty snow globes.

Now I’m moving on, but I leave Manny behind, and I’m afraid you all are on your own with that one. :teeth:

So really all that is left to say is

Love ya… MEAN IT!!!!

Hey Ed, I read both boards so I guess I won't really have to miss you at all, although of all the pin friends I met on this board, you and Donna are the only ones I have actually seen in person. I don't know if that is a good thing or not......must be a story in that somewhere. See you on the flip side, and no that is not the same as the backside.....................

Jeepers, we don't really collect anything either... other than you, Donna and other great friendships here! (Well, unless you count the ten thousand or so digital photos we've taken at WDW... does that count?) :(

As much as we've enjoyed reading so many other members' postings here over the year or so we've been reading this board, I have to admit Eddie, sweetie-pie, honey-bunch... without you, it's not going to be nearly as much fun! :confused3 (Heck, from the evidence I've seen, let's face it, both Brian and I appear to be the best thread-killers around this place!) :worried: :guilty:

So, I guess we'll high-tail it after you and mosey on over to the Community Boards, too. Never really checked them out before, so looks like there may be a grand adventure awaiting us there! As Bette Davis said in All About Eve... "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!" :jumping1:

Sandy (and Brian, Bonnie & Kellie, too)
::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

Sandy and Brian...I will be following you as well to the Community Board..never really went there...now we have a reason.....we can Ed groupies!

I have to beg to differ with you on one point though:

(Heck, from the evidence I've seen, let's face it, both Brian and I appear to be the best thread-killers around this place!)

I am the queen of thread killers. I post and it is like the plague, no one goes near it! It has given me a true complex...but heck, just something else for me to collect. HA hahahahaha

See you at the Community boards!

Ed I will miss your posts over here. I don't venture over to the community board because a sinlge page of posts is about 20 minutes over there. When you only stop in the boards 2-3 times a day you'd have to sift through 10 pages!! I spend enough time on the computer I don't need to spend more.

I personally don't see where an occaisional off topic post can really bother anyone, especially on a board that only has 10-12 new posts a day. It's not like alot of posts are getting knocked off the front page.

I will probably catch you elsewhere. The community board is not my home, here is.

Whoa.. Wait a minute here!!

What the heck happened?

This is not right. Not that I won't be happy having you guys over on the Community Board with me but I think I was left out of something here.

I have an idea...

There are many "club" threads on the Community Board, where a bunch of people hang out with each other but it stays within that one thread to keep it easier to keep up with. There are Swan/Dolphin people. Clay Aiken fans, Survivor fans, etc.

I'm going to start a new home over on the Community Board so we have a place to socialize, okay?

I just need a name...

How about "The Traders Lounge" - for traders that want to trade things other than pins - jokes, stories, whatever.

I'll put a link in my signature so you guys can always find the thread, okay?

All done!

Come on over and play with us when you need a good laugh.

If you can't find the thread, just click on the link that is in my signature!

He was nothing but a trouble maker from the 'git go anyway!!!!!!
Hey Ed......wait for me....I'm coming!!!!..............is Nat coming?????
I got a new name for the new Ed meeting place, "The Ed..ited and Off Topic board"

Looks like I'll have to make a new link to a new
page on the DIS...

Sad to see Ed leave us here... but as long as
he is still around and not serving a life sentence
in the DIS penetentiary!

And, hey man... lay off us snowglobe collectors ey?
I haven't had one go dry on me yet in the Arizona
Heat!

Love comin' right back at cha dude!
(you too Manny!)

I am very upset to read this.
I collect Friends, and this board has been one of the best places for me to go and add to my collection.
I can't believe that after all these years when everyone has always posted family life, family problems, and family joys, that someone would complain. We have all been great support for each other and by not allowing us to continue will break down the board.
I don't think I will be posting that much here anymore, my collecting has slowed and with my illness I am going to be eliminating some of my "stuff". Pins have gotten me some good friends, but pins don't mean much to me anymore.
I will be selling most of my pins but will join Ed and his followers to the community board.
Peggie

We have "collected" some of the greatest friends, most of whom we would have never met except for these boards..We've laughted w/ them, cried w/ them, laughted at them...(thats part of being a friend right??;)

And I think most of the people that have a problem on the, have completely here, have missed the point.. sure ..we have collected pins, beanies, snow globes?? statues, paintings...just make a trip to my house, and you will see all of these things here, but most of all we have collected friendships....
we have all shared so many things, happy and sad times, and been there for each other,

So..now to say that if your post isn't about something to do w/ collecting, just don't post...well....if you take a good look at a large percentage of the posts, they have nothing to do w/ an item collected, it is to do w/ our collection of Disney friends...

And some very silly stories, jokes, shared problems, are all a part of it...the collecters board took on a separate life all its own...even though some tried to stamp on it...We have kept our friendships, and continued sharing, now we just have a different place to do it... on the Traders lounge...come one in!!.

I am not sure that what is being said here has anything to do with if you are posting a get well or pixie dust needed, "family life, family problems, and family joys", or anything else. From what I have seen (many times) it has to do with some of the pictures and links which Ed posts.. This, as many boards is a large community and has readers from 6-90 years old and each one has different values and morals.
Now you must admit some of the pictures and links Ed has put up might be funny to some, but offensive to others and for a young person wanting to read about collecting Disney items I am sure his parents do not want him to be seeing some of these things. There is a place for that type of humor, but in my opinion it is not needed on the collectors board.
Also there is no need to leave just dont post this stuff

Will that link be under all your posts...or just on this one...i have had a couple of pms about it.....

Thanks

It is part of her signiture Donna so I am guessing it will be in all her posts.

I know that the purpose of this board is to discuss collecting Disney merchandise. It's a pro-consumer board basically. That's fine. But, when you bring in the added bonus of discussing pin trading, you have added in a new factor......personalities. Why? Because when you trade pins, you are dealing with two or more different people that must share something of themselves in the process of making the trade.

The official pin trading site that Disney runs even says that Pin Trading is a great way to meet new friends. I have definately found this to be so. Some of my new pin trading contacts are rather boring, some are just too sweet, some are complete jerks, some are rather unique and entertaining individuals. Pin trading is not just about the pins, it's about the people.

I prefer to trade with people that I know. I prefer to buy from people that I know too. This board has stimulated many trades over the years. Why? Because there are lots of people out there just like me that want to know who the person behind the boardname and the avatar are.

When we share here on the board, we are giving small glimpses into the person behind the collection, the sale, or the trade. I would have never purchased my much loved Mickey Head trading bag off of eBay, if I had not realized that it was Ed who was selling it. I would not have found my "Disboard friend" bonus CM nametag Tinkerbell pin in the ear pocket of the bag, if I hadn't mentioned to him that I knew him from the board. I love Ed for that.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate reading this board and getting to know these people a little more. I can't tell you how generous these people have been to the Bert's Big Adventure pin project that I have been trying to support/run. It's the people that make trading work.

So, if I see a post that I don't like, you know what, I just back out of it. It's no big deal. If I see a post that makes me laugh, sometimes I actually post to it, but most times, I just enjoy it without any addition.

I hate to see this board become just a bland consumer board. It takes the people out of the trade environment. It will hurt more than it will help. People need to express themselves.....and should be allowed to do so.

I can't imagine that a few jokes.....even a few that are in questionable taste (to a few)......are reason enough to cause the death of a board. I say death, because let's face it.....rarely does anyone talk about pins or collecting on this board. And if you make it as bland as just strict consumerism is, it will be dead in no time.

This is just my opinion. If you don't like it, I'm sorry, but I shoot straight, even if I'm not. (that was a joke) Maggie

I have read the posts here and I am a little baffled. The moderators never asked for anyone to leave the board or to stop posting off topic posts. We all realize that this is a small community of friends and family. What we did ask and ask of everyone here is to remember that this is a family board and post designed for shock value or ones that have no reason other than to push the limits of what the webmasters have asked us to do are not needed on the collectors board.

The founder of the DIS has said himself that we are more than a Disney information site. We have grown to be a place for friends to gather and talk. To make this easier on people looking for the information that the boards are designed for (trip planning, resorts and the such) the webmasters have put up the Community Board for those to share life other than just Disney. They give the collectors board a lot of freedoms in such as they understand that collectors are a fickle bunch and close knit friends. But that does not give posters the freedom to post topics that are as I said earlier posted just to push buttons.

I take what Peggie said to heart.

I collect Friends, and this board has been one of the best places for me to go and add to my collection.
I can't believe that after all these years when everyone has always posted family life, family problems, and family joys, that someone would complain. We have all been great support for each other and by not allowing us to continue will break down the board.

We have all made friends here that will go well beyond anything said or done here. I know this first hand. Many of you have been to my house as I have to yours. And you are all welcome. We have sent notes of thanks and of sorrow when the occasion was needed. When Lauri needed a hug and support who did she turn too? It was to her friends here on the Collectors Board. One thing we have never done is to turn our backs on our friends here. We will always be here for support in times of family need and joy. We are a group of people who have found a special bond here. But that being said we cannot be a closed group. We (the moderators) have the unthankful task of making sure all feel welcome and safe. We get our complaints for this and that but we have a job we accepted to do. And one of those is making sure all feel welcomed.

While I am not a parent I must think like one. I don’t think posting pictures of certain things and using innuendos in off topic posting is something as a parent you should have to worry about when your small child is searching a DISNEY website. While not a lot of people post on the subjects they do get a lot of readers. Remember that the next time you hit post. Is this something I would want a 10 year old seeing on a DISNEY site?

Now after that all was being said. Ed I would hate to see you stop posting here. Your incite in to Disney is great. You offer views of Disney no one knows or sees. It would be a shame if we lost that uniqueness. As all those here are, you are a great friend to the Disney Collector. Heck without you I would not know about Webb’s…

Who lets a 10 year old surf the net unattended?????????
My kid is 11 and he is not allowed on the net at all unless it is for school work or to play one of his video games on line!!!
There is such a thing called "parental controls, filters, settings or whatever your ISP calls them", just because you are in a "family" board those filters still work!!!
By the way if you want to try something funny for the 10 year olds, type Disney or Christian on a few search engines and see how many porn sites come up!!!!!!!!
Heather, see our toe jam, Wal Mart, trailer park thread does not sound that bad anymore does it???????

I have to say that my younger son who is 15 yrs old now, has been surfing the net since he was 10. I have the parental controls set and he is still able to get to the DIS board. How do I know this, I was checking something out on this board under his name one time.

So, parental filters aren't always the answer, but good taste and common sense are.

There are worse things to find on the net then these boards!!!!!
Good, bad or indifferent taste!!!
If any kid is surfing the net this (DIS) is like Barney on Quaaludes!
