Last year, my husband and I surprised our kids with their first ever disney trip. We surprised them at 179 days, after our carefully laid plans were finalized. We planned this trip a year in advance. We had adrs in place, a coveted MK pre park opening to BBB and breakfast at the castle immediately afterwards, Akerhaus at the perfect time, and a schedule. A perfectly followed to the letter Schedule. I had never been before, nor my husband or any of our kids. Our week was flawless. Amazing in every way: busy but magical. We told them that was a once in a lifetime trip, live it up, that we would never be able to take 5 kids back to the world, especially not at Christmas time.
Then life threw us a curve ball...

The curveball: after a few years at our current post the army was moving us. We had 3 months to find a house, schools, get packed and moved. It was chaotic and stressful but moves are always an adventure, right?!! He reported immediately to his new job, without the allowed time off because his unit was headed to Afghanistan. He flew out for training a week after we moved leaving me with boxes and boxes and a town where we knew no one. An adventure. He was gone for pre deployment training a few weeks and was told he would be gone for 9 months. I did not was to spend the holidays alone in a new town so we started talking about me taking the kids to disney for Christmas!
