This was a 10 day mom and kids trip 8/25 to 9/3. Me, mom, DS 11 who eats like a teen, and DD 7 (turned 8 on 8/29) who eats only chicken nuggets and any gum or sweets she can find.

DS:
Min and Doc's: Kids both got frozen lemonade & I got a choc. milkshake. All were in 16 oz. plastic cups, so unless you are a very fast eater, they melt fast in the heat. DS, DD and I give thumbs up. The lemonade & shake were good & cold, but melted before we could finish.

Backlot Express. 8 chicken nuggets w/ fries, grilled turkey sandwich w/ apples, cheese cake and strawberry parfait. DS & I split the turkey. 3 lg. pieces of wholegrain bread w/ few slices of lunchmeat turkey, a piece of roasted red pepper and a piece of dark green lettuce? DS and I thought good, but too much bread. DD chicken nuggets good. Cake yick and parfait even yickier. DS loves berries, but the parfait made him gag. http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/scared07.gif

Pizza Planet: Plain and Pepperoni, 2 side salads, and 2 mickey rice treats. DS, DD and I thought Pepperoni better then plain. Plain tasted like tomato paste. Too bland. The salads - small containers of iceberg lettuce w/ slivers of carrot and 1 grape tomato. The Pepperoni had 4 small slices of meat. Rice treats the best!

AK:
Y&Y CS: Honey Chicken, chicken fried rice and mango tart. DS and I ate the honey but both of us thought it was yicky sweet after a short time. DD hated it and only ate the fried rice. We all liked the fried rice, it wasn't greasy. DS and I ate tart, it was ok.

Boardwalk:
ESPN TS: DS & I split cheesesteak and rocky road choc. cake. Yes, DD had chicken nuggets and fries. Unknown to us, the fries counted as her appetizer, and she had the one scoop ice cream. Steak was huge and had a huge amount of a cheese-whiz type cheese plopped on top. DS and I thought steak was overall good, but had a kinda strange spice taste. DS & I thought cake was too dry and didn't eat much of the large slice that it was. DD said is that all the ice cream I get?

AK:
Eddie Dibbs and hot fudge sundae enjoyed by all of us.
TH donald breakfast: The usual spread of breakfast food, 4 characters, and fast passes for the 10:30 Nemo show. DS and I like breakfast and had nice platefuls. Both of us thought good, but not worth the money if paying OOP. Characters came around once, in quick fashion, and our 8:10 seating let us be in the Safari line by 9. Service was ok, she wasn't friendly until after her tip.

More in next post.

Pop Century CS:
Mediterrain. Flatbread: DS & I split. Liked toppings but thought bread over cooked. Won't order again. Chicken nuggets: DD thought good, the same nuggets as everywhere else. We all liked the fries: hot, though hotter w/ some meals than others. DS and I like the dyed cheesecake. DD thought yick. DD and DS split choc. cupcakes. They liked, but thought cake was dry. DD especially liked the icing. That's all she actually ate. Cheesesteak wrap: DS and I split. It was ok, wrap was dried out too, and not alot of meat. Won't order again. Big bowl of chinese chicken soup. While DD likes chinese food and loves soup, she did not like the soup and all thought it was oddly spiced, and not in a good way.

Poly:
Kona: DS had strip steak and I coconut crusted chicken. We both liked our meals. Steak was good and chicken was so large I could only finish half. DS and I had the Kona Kone. DD took mine. Both give big thumbs up. DD had mickey cheese rav. She liked, but asked is that all I get? I think there were only 4 or 5 small pieces. More like a serving for a 4 year old. When I told server it was to be DD 's bday, the chef brought out a large triangular plate with squirts of whip cream and mickey sprinkles all over, an icing drawing of stitch kissing lilo & icing happy birthday. In center was a small cream puff w/ choc. in center and more cream on top. Very sweet. DD only ate whip cream, I ate the puff and loved it. We liked our server and the restaurant, we'd go back.

O'Hana friends breakfast: family style buffet. Waitress was annoyed that we didn't eat much & didn't want the drinks she had brought that she had guessed we would order when we first sat down. DD ate a few of the potato wedges and thought everything else was yick. Had water to drink. DS and I liked the juice and like the basic platter and bread that was served. Scrambled eggs, pork sausage links, fried tater wedges and bacon. Pineapple bread and Cinnamon Raisin bread. Characters were amusing and made us laugh. Would I pay OOP for this, no. Do this again? Maybe.

Contemporary:
Chef Mickey's: Buffet. All 3 of us said yick to most of the food. DD was sad that the ice cream machine didn't work most of the time we ate. Characters quickly came and went. No antics and no long sightings. Was DD's bday and with the check came a small vanilla cupcake with an unlit candle. No other birthday recognition. The food was uneventful and mediocre. Even DS who is a human eating machine said he would not want to come back. We won't be back.

I'll finish more in another post, have to go now. Hope you are enjoying!:wizard:

Boma: We had a great buffet dinner. There was a great assortment of meat, soups, vegetables and desserts. I loved the assorted very cute and small desserts the most. Kids didn't like, only had chocolate chip cookies. We also liked the restaurant and waiter. We'd eat here again.

Columbia Harbor House. The fish and chicken nuggets were good. The tuna sandwich was also good. The desserts were not so good. We liked eating upstairs. Much quieter and not as hectic.

Cosmic Rays: DS and I split the ribs and chicken platter. It had a small rack of pork ribs, a half a chicken, and a scoop of mashed potatoes and a handful of slightly cooked green beans. DD had the chicken soup, which came in a very small cup/container. She really liked, and of course, is not part of any dining plan. We had the chocolate cake for dessert, pre-packed, and not eaten.

Tilly's at Typhoon Lagon: We liked the chicken, bbq sandwich and fish. The fries were hot. Dessert was big chocolate cookies. All were finished and all enjoyed. I thought the ice cream was a dessert, but it was only the pre-packed cheese cake or the kids cookies. Cookies are the only decent dessert.

Finally, we ate at LeCellier our last night. We had a great waiter. Both DD and I had the filet (her the kids version) and DS had the chicken. All meals were thoroughly enjoyed. I never saw my DD eat so much steak. She wants to go back and have another. DS had the apple crisp. It was very large and came with vanilla ice cream. I had the s'more treat. It was two graham cracker cookies, a little bigger than an oreo, which had a mound of melted chocolate with little marshmellows melted in the chocolate on one side, and a large scoop of vanilla ice cream between the cookies. Stuck into this cookie sandwich, standing very tall, was a large straw with three large marshmellows rolled in jimmies. DD swapped her meger one scoop of ice cream with small cups of chocolate syrup, jimmies, and banana chips for my dessert.

These were some of the places we ate at. From the way my kids eat, we won't do another buffet breakfast. We are outgrowing the characters and for the price, I'd rather eat lunch or dinner. For table services, we liked Boma, Kona, ESPN, LeCellier. We wouldn't dine again at Rose n' Crown or Chef Mickey's. We thought most of the QS were decent. We had chicken nuggets at almost all the parks and they were all the same, but tasted good for my DD. DS liked eating off the adult menu.

If you have any questions, just let me know. I'll try to answer. Thanks!

thanks for your reviews - i didn't see your comments on Rose and Crown except that you would not want to eat there again ---why?

Your trip sounds like mine! I always go with DD and DS, ages 11 and 12, since DH is a Disney-hater. We haven't eaten at PP and want to try it next trip (January. I also want to try the Tusker House breakfast.
What desserts did you have at CHH? We just ate there last month and my friend had the chocolate cake, which was packaged and she said was not great. But I got the apple cobbler, which was warm and more like an apple dumpling and I thought it was really good.
And I am also curious about your experience at R&C, as it's one of the places I haven't done yet, but want to try.

wdwthanksgiving and the post above

1. We didn't like R&C because the steak I had was not cooked right and was tough. My son's pork loins looked like gray lunchmeat. The apple crumb dessert was ok, but I didn't like the sticky pudding. My DD had the kid's chicken nuggets. When she wanted fries as a side, they said it replaced the appetizer. The waitress forgot us most of the time, so we had our entrees in like 15 minutes, but she didn't come back to ask for dessert until over 1 hour later. With kids done eating, that's a long time.

At CCH we had the apple crisp which my DS and I liked. DD had the chocolate pre-packed cake, and well, other than eating the oversized icing, the cake was left. I don't blame her, it looked like that microwave cake you can buy at the grocery store.

I have to say, overall the food was good and It was nice to have some sit down meals

Thanks for reading what I had to say.
