Good morning buds! :sunny: It is Sunday and early spring (winter really in some areas) but in every season there are some actors in our gardens who step up and take the stage for a while. So I have my cup of coffee and would love to join you in a tour of your garden areas... I will start by taking you on a short trip through mine. No pictures yet to add... hopefully next tour!

As you exit out of my house you stand looking at the lawn and terraced gardens. The main color in the terrace garden at the moment is purple flowering winter heather that spills over the terrace wall. The tall douglas fir trees stand towering above this area and provides a vertical lift for the eyes.

Turning around and facing the house... you see primroses aplenty in the garden beds with succulent hens and chicks showing tips of red from new growth. The primroses are in shades of pinks and yellows and are dotted throughout the gardens. To the right the flowering cherry tree is in bloom and so is a beautiful pink flowering bush (which I have as yet not identified!).

Walking around to the back side of the house... there is pierius bushes (spelling?) that have been blooming now for several weeks and will soon be done (they smell very very sweet), and now there are two early blooming rhododendrons... one pink and delicate and one that is scarlet red - lacey and racey!

The real starlet of the garden right now is the red rhodie... just awesome to look at. I need to get a few pics and post them for you.

Okay.. I have refilled my coffee mug... whose garden are we touring next?

Since the construction just finished up in September...I have several very large empty beds out back. The veggie/perennial bed will be back to just veggies this year, hopefully, but I do believe I said the smae thing last year. I have some new tulip bulbs just starting to force the ground to crack.

In front, my row of 500 crocuses are just now looking ragged. The rain yesterday certainly didn't help.
My daffodils are just up a few inches and various perennials are just poking their heads up..

That's really it at my house.

My patio is starting to show signs of life.

The burning bush has buds on it. My uncle gave me cuttings of of his last year, and this on is in a large pot. I also planted a bush outside of the patio, on the side of our building. It has buds, too.

Behind that is the pot with the trumpet vine. It also got its start last year. It grew fairly well, but never flowered. I am hoping it is all settled in this year, and that we will see some flowers on it.

Then there is a bench, which remains empty right now. It will be filled with house plants, when I bring them outside.

I have two very large wooden boxes, one is tall, and one is short. My husband made them for me. My butterfly bush is in one. I just cut it back the other day, and will be watching it for new growth. The other box has the plant that looks like little cabbage heads when it starts to grow, and grows into a large bush, with pretty, dainty flowers on it. They are poking through the dirt now, and I expect that when the sun hits this week, they will grow pretty fast.

I had hen and chicks in that box, but it looks like they are rotted. I might replace them, but I am not sure.

I have another large pot that had a Day Lily. My aunt gave it to me last year, and it did not flower. It grew real well, but no flowers. I hope to see some flowers this year. I have no clue what kind, or color, it is, and neither did my aunt! She dug it out of her garden, telling me she wasn't sure which color it was.

Then there is my pot with the Lily of the Valley in it. I got those from my aunt, too. They are growing really, really fast!! And, there are several more then last year. I love the smell of Lily of the Valley.

I have a rose tree, and several rose bushes. They are still dormant, and down in the basement. It looks like they all survived winter, except for one of the bushes.

So, not a lot of color out on the patio, but that's ok! I love the signs of life growing.

at the moment,, large piles of limbs and sawdust:)

Love garden tours.

Spring is finally springing around here, little things sprouting up everywhere. But first I must clean-up all the twigs and get that matted grass raked. The heavy snow had done a lot of damage, my shrubs are bent, twisted and burned. Looks like I'll be doing lots of pruning.

Nothing much to look at though. I did get into the yard this week. Did some raking, It looks good where I've raked.

The snow plows left half the tar from the roads in my front gardens. What a heavy mess. Looks like lots of salt burn too.

As far as a tour there's nothing to see yet, some sprouts. I did plant tons of spring flowering bulbs in the front this fall, everything is starting to emerge from it's winter slumber. Can't wait to see the show.

Look like today is going to be another good day, need to visit the nursery center though, need gypsum, lawn fertilizer and some mole kill. Last year I started having problems with moles, after spending mega $$$$ on deterrents and nothing working I sadly resorted to mole kill. There back! I can see tracks all over the yard. They eat the roots of my plants, one day the plant looks great, next day it's wilting, a little tug and up comes the whole plant with no roots.

Now I'm willing to share a little, but these guys have no mercy. They wiped out my hosta's and astilbe, and moving on to the daylilies. There like the squirrels with the peaches, and the woodchuck in the garden. Eat and eat and eat, leave nothing.

I'll give it a try.

First thing you notice is not the house but two huge pine trees. My have they grown since we planted them in the 70's. One in particular is a perfect shape and towers over the house.

The front is bare for now except for a climbing rose and a couple small azalea bushes. The violets are just starting to pop up, as are the tulips.

Along the right side of the house are two flowering cherry trees. A few blooms are out now. Another large azalea is there also. But the star of the show needs a few more weeks to get ready. The entire bed is planted with lily of the valley. Their display of deep green leaves and fragrant white bells should be out by May.

Trees dot the lawn to the right, one circled with grape hyacinths which are starting to pop out.

Enter the backyard now. Along the right fence is a row of iris blooms, the leaves are making their appearance. Lilacs of white and purple will grace the area by May. Stroll along the walkway to the porch under a canopy of a flowering tree later this Spring. Daffodils now greet your entrance. Later in the Summer come over and pick fresh raspberries from the bushes in the back. A big maple and an olive tree are in the backyard behind the porch.

Circle around to the left of the house and the main lawn is there. Forsythia bushes line the back fence, in near full bloom now. A big, graceful tree is in the center of the lawn shading the back. Along the side of the house is a big holly bush, climbing rose and a flowering bush covered with buds waiting to burst open and reveal their gorgeous pink color. In the summer, ferns will join the crew.
