Day 1—Boring, but no rain!!!

Well, our plane landed around 2 pm so by the time we got to our resort we were getting pretty hungry. However, we decided to wait until we got to Typhoon Lagoon to eat. I’m so glad we decided to go ahead and hit this water park on our arrival day since the rest of the vacation was, shall we say, soggy. One note of warning—I get really cranky when I get hungry and everyone knows that, so when I said I needed to eat upon our immediate arrival to TL, my Dbf did not argue. We wandered around for a while and ended up at Typhoon Tilly’s. We both ordered the chicken wrap which came with a bag of chips (this was a BIG bag, not full size, but it did have 2.5 servings in it—yes I’m the nerd who reads the labels on food), a drink, and dessert. I apologize because this is the only meal where I did not take at least one or two pictures. I just didn’t want to bring my camera to the water park. I scoured the internet trying to find a picture of the chicken wrap at Typhoon Tilly’s, but I failed. I did find one that looked remarkably like it though:

Ok, here’s the review part: the chicken wrap was ok. Not bad, but just bland. It didn’t really taste like much of anything, maybe we missed the sauces or something. I didn’t notice any kind of sauce on the wrap itself. The chips were plentiful, in fact we shared one bag and brought the other back to our room where it sat the entire vacation (I hate wasting food). We got bottled water to drink, and for dessert we opted for the ice cream, but we never went back to get any. We use the dining plan mainly for convenience, not for value…which you will see more evidence of later. Overall, I give this meal at Typhoon Tilly’s two stars which if you don’t remember means: “I could have made this just as well or better, but I don’t have to do the dishes myself.”
It was adequate and certainly plenty of food. On a side note…last year we had the caesar salad there and it was very good.

Lunch
This was our first full day of vacation. We decided to head out the Animal Kingdom! My dbf LOVES barbeque, so I thought it would be nice to try out Flame Tree Barbeque. We both ordered the same thing (boring, I know). We had the pork sandwich which is served with baked beans.

We both thought the sandwiches were pretty good. The barbeque sauce is served separately so you can administer as much as you want. I did feel like the meat was a little on the fatty side. However, it didn’t stop me from eating it and I thought it had a pretty good flavor. The meat was definitely NOT dry, it was very moist. The baked beans were super yummy. I had a frozen lemonade for dessert and Dbf had chocolate cake. Well, I was pretty skeptical of the chocolate cake, but lemme tell you—it was really good! Very moist and more like a cupcake. My frozen lemonade was good also. Overall we give Flame Tree 2.5 stars. I would eat here again and it was a nice change from burgers and fries.

Dinner
For dinner we had an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. Now, we have been to the World at least once a year for the entire time we have been dating (approx. 3 years) and I have never had much of a desire to eat at LTT. However, since we heard the characters were going on hiatus after the start of the New Year it seemed like a good time to try it out. We were so glad we did! I loved the décor, it was very colonial looking and kind of homey (especially for being in the middle of an amusement park). We waited about 10 minutes to be seated and then we were shown to a table for two in a back area off to the right as you enter. It was fairly quiet in our area when we first arrived which was nice. I think we both had iced tea to drink (no sweet tea here). They bring out some rolls which were very delicious and I had to keep reminding myself not to eat them all since dinner proper hadn’t even started yet. Next came a salad with a Strawberry Vinaigrette, it was tasty as well.

I feel kind of like a broken record here, but I was very impressed. Maybe its because we went in with pretty low expectations….Anyways next came out the entire feast…..

I’ll spare you the details and suffice to say that we enjoyed everything they put in front of us…this is what I like to call “the aftermath”…

Really though everything was delicious. I mean Thanksgiving dinner is more elaborate when I make it at home, but this was a solid meal that I suspect would be even better when you have kiddos with you or lots of family. Oh and dessert was good too. It was apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed it too although we couldn’t stuff too much more in after the feast. Here is an obligatory “me and the characters” pic:

Overall I give LTT 3.5 stars=good food, good service, and great décor—the character interaction was also an added bonus.
