Hi. We are staying at Disney's Polynesian august 2007 for our 5th anniversary. I notified the CM over the phone of our anniversary. What does disney do for guests celebrating such occasions? Is it unreasonable to ask for a free room upgrade? What other perks might disney offer my spouse and I? Anyone have any luck when celebrating there anniversary at disney? Would love to hear from you.:)

Congrats on your anniversary! We will be going in September to celebrate our 10th. I know that there are anniversary buttons (like the "It's my birthday" buttons) and I found out on this board that they give these buttons when you check in.

Let me know how your anniversary trip goes. Congrats again!

All I know is that Disney rarely "offers" anything. You have to request it. So
don't be shy. Of course, since this is the YOAMD, you might get lucky!
Congratulations!

Congrats to you as well.... and what is YOAMD? I'm new to these abbreviations.

"Year of a million dreams". A promotion that Disney is running this year. Free give aways from large to small. Ride fast pass, a night sleeping in Cinderalla's castle (that one has been awarded), A 250 point DVC membership at SSR and other things.

You can ask about the upgrade, no guarentee but hey, can't hurt to ask. May depend on what time of year you're going.

I am trying to talk hubby into going for our 10th in Aug. We will have to see. I would mention that this is your anniv.

It would not be unreasonable to ask if there was a free room upgrade available, but would be unreasonable to expect one. Disney and CM's sometimes have the ability to fill such requests sometimes not. As another poster mentioned there are the anniversary buttons, if they don't give them to you at check in you can ask for them there or at any guest services location in the 4 parks. I think I have heard that there is just one design for the button so no need to get one in every park, just wear the same one each day.

When you make your ADR's have the CM on the phone note that it is your anniversary on all your ressies. I have heard that some Diser's have gotten things like confetti on the table, a free dessert or other such recognition.

YOAMD is something that happens randomly throughout the parks and having anniversary pins etc will not influence whether you get the true YOAMD prizes as these are given out based on a system such as "give dream fastpasses to the first 4 people who get in line for Space Mtn at 11:03 am" so CM's cannot pick and choose who gets them. Because of the celebration however, it seems that many CM's are giving away little things to make guest's days more magical.

I would go with the frame of mind that I was just happy to be in Disney for my anniversary and not expect anything extra, that way if you get something it is magical and if you get nothing extra it is still a magical and memorable vacation. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

We had our anniversary dinner at Boma last year and they gave us a nice card and a cookie platter with "Happy 7th Anniversary" drizzled in chocolate. It was a very nice touch that we really appreciated.

Congrats on your 5th!

DH & I went to Disney last year for our 15th (and plan to go this year for our 16th). We didn't have any expectations of anything (except of course of having a great time). We didn't even know about the buttons until a photopass CM told us where to get them. It was fun because everyone (from CM to other guests) who saw them congratulated us.

We were staying at a cabin at Ft. Wilderness and when we arrived all the CMs got so excited (a bit strange we thought) because there was a "special envelope" for us. In the envelope was a certificate from the CM that I booked our trip with. THe certificate congratulated us on our anniversary. So then all the CMs made a big deal about it. It really made us feel special!

Also, at Trail's End when we were having dinner one night, our waitress noticed our buttons and we told her we were celebrating our 15th and she was very sweet and nonchalent. She left to go to the kitchen and when she returned she presented us with another certificate (where the entire staff had signed) and a really yummy strawberry shortcake (which was just the perfect size for me & DH). It was soooo good!

Just my 2 cents!

Congats on your 5th Anniversary.

We are going in August for our 20th anniversary. We hope to get the free DDP and have the AAA TA help out with other details. The TA we use in Green Bay is fantastic.:goodvibes :woohoo:

Congrats on your 5 years... Wishing you all the best...
As for the perks, I know when we went for our birthdays there was something left in our room for both of us (little cards) but the time that I brought my husband for his birthday I paid for something extra special (a chocolate birthday cake) to be in the room when we got there. As for asking for the room upgrade it doesnt hurt... but if you are going in the beginning of August its prime time and you might not get it. I would also call the resort a couple of days before you leave (*i was advised this by a cm) and let them know that you will be there in a couple of days and that your celebrating your anniversary... if you get someone good, they will help getting something special done for you.

:goodvibes

Just booked a quick decision trip for sep 19-25. I am very excited I didn;t think we would get to go this year.
