We have 152 Vacation Points that we must use this year. And THAT is the long story I will skip. Naturally I have thought about ways to use them and have settled on Williamsburg, primarily because of the favorable things that posters have put up about the various choices we have there.

Now I am wondering

- whether Vacation points are applicable there since I never get those straight in the first place and that is part of the long story.

- Will 152 points be applicable in King's Creek or Ford's Plantation?

- Are we required to do a week there?

- Would 152 be enough?

Naturally I will be calling MS tomorrow since this is Sunday. But the folks who post here are so helpful I thought I would try to do my homework beforehand.

Thanks

King's Creek Plantation and Ford's are both listed. :thumbsup2

You're going to have to stay the full week.

You do not mention what size accommodations you will need. One bedroom or two bedroom? :confused3

A one bedroom through International Interval's exchange with DVC during "high" season is 160 points. You are a little short, so you would need to borrow points from next year. "Mid" season is 144 points and "low" season is 124. If you need a two bedroom "high" is 270, "mid" is 252, and "low" is 207 points. Again, all situations where you will need to borrow points from 2007.

You have another problem. Booking an exchange is often a long process involving wait lists. Depending on how popular your resort is, you will probably be put on a wait list...and there is no guarantee you will even get your request filled for 2006. :sad2:

When you talk to Member Services give them numerous dates that would work for you to increase your chances.

I would also suggest being prepared to book a Disney Vacation Club resort where you have a much better chance of booking a resort this year. :surfweb:

Here are the points required for the World Passport Collection:

Studio - 106 Low/123 Mid/134 High
1 BR - 124 Low/144 Mid/160 High
2 BR - 207 Low/252 Mid/270 High
3 BR - 276 Low/317 Mid/349 High

152 points would be enough for a stay in a Studio at any time (based on availability) or a 1BR thru low and mid seasons (seasons are defined by the resort itself- not by DVC).

I don't understand your question about Vacation Points- since that is what our DVC points are called. If you have 152 points in your current Use Year, that have not come from a cancelled non-DVC reservation, they may be used for a World Passport exchange thru II. If they were already used to make a non-DVC reservation that was later cancelled (cruise, WDW resort, Concierge Collection), they are then called "Reservation Points" and may not be used for any reservation except the non-DVC options. They could not be used for an exchange, since a DVC reservation must be made as an exchange (in this situation, World Passport exchanges are actually counted as a DVC option.)

World Passport exchanges are all a full 7-day week (you are welcome to stay as many of those days as you'd like though).

If the resort you are interested in reserving is part of the Concierge Collection, then Reservation Points may be used and you may reserve as few as 1 night.

Good luck with your plans! :)

I do know that availability through Interval International for Williamsburg for summer 2006 is very very limited. Everything is pretty much booked except for odd cancellations.
