Soon as you said Race, knew exactly where you were going, what it was about, everything. Though down in the south we have to clarify early May or Late May (Derby or 500)!
It's funny because people who don't live here think that it's got to be the best thing ever to be so close to the speedway. Race fans, mostly, would think that anyway...lol...I tell them that the traffic can be frightening!
And here I thought that we were the only ones who avoid the city and leave town when the race is here!
Had to show my love! I am in southern Indiana....gearing up for Derby madness (or avoiding it - I grew up in Lewyville) But I was born a Hoosier and proud I am one living in Indiana!!
Yeah, hubby is trying to talk me into Derby. I am trying to wriggle out of it. I just have never seen the appeal. I know it is southern charm but it escapes me!
Tell me about it. My dad lives off of Tibbs ave. and if have ever been to the track you know how close to the track we are. We are always blocked in for most of race day, but we just kick back and fire up the grill. I get a kick out of watching all the people walking by and parking on every inch of grass available. After the race we like to sit up on the train tracks over 16th and watch the sea people leaving the track. Its a blast and I can't wait until the next race. Hopefully be camping somewhere in the Coke feild again this year!
I understand traffic when it comes to Derby. I live in Louisville and usually try to get out of town on Derby day because traffic is terrible on the freeways. All the people not knowing where to go .
