It's Official we're no longer DVC owners

I thought I'd let you know we are no longer DVC owners. We sold our three contracts. One at SSR and two at BCV, thanks for all your help over the past 21 years. Canadian Tom
I also have 1 @ SSR & 2 @ BCV. Still love staying at both. If I can ask, did you just tired of DCV?

Many Canadians on Reddit have been outspoken about American politics and not wanting to support with vacation dollars.

Personally, I may be critical of policies in various places - foreign and domestic, but I give a lot of latitude to Democracies (including individual US states) where the leaders are elected by the people.

Regardless of that, a tourism boycott will not change policy in any individual state or country - not in North/South America, Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. If it makes people feel better about their choices, maybe that's good enough...

Moreover, selling 3 contracts after 21 years may have nothing to do with politics. The average time people hang on to DVC contracts is likely much less than 2 decades. Congrats to Tom on his decision and hopefully there's a lifetime of memories from the ownership. We've had some amazing trips over 15+ years of owning Marriott/Westin (but did sell one of the deeds in the past year) and also over the ~2 years of owning DVC.

The reasons for our decision to sell are varied. 1 is the politics, 2 is the value of the Canadian dollar, 3 over the last few years we haven't been supportive of the changes Disney have made in the parks, and 4 the airlines services have become unacceptable. Thanks

To DanCali: You have no idea how Canadians feel about the USA right now because of recent events. You could say that a national fire has been lit within all Canadians that will not be easily extinguished. Maybe in four years I may visit the USA. I've been on these boards for 25 years so I do recognize a change. Thanks for the years of enjoyment.

I recently sold some of my BLT and all of my POLY and VGC points. We're at Disney now, at RR, and while the resort is wonderful, the parks experiences have been disappointing. The Disney experience is much downgraded over that last half dozen years, and it's just not as enjoyable for us anymore. I've been coming here for 50 years (almost 51), and I never thought I'd feel this way.

If you live on the West Coast… just a note that Washington, Oregon, and California still plan on being very good neighbors to our friends up north.

What recent events?

Half my family is Canadian and can’t wait to move to Texas, so I guess we aren’t all bad.
Exactly how many people are in this "half my family" and what is the reason for choosing Texas?

Just asking, because I can also write that my aunt's entire family is temporarily exiting the country. The exit is real. The entire family, however, only composes of two people, and the reason for the departure is that her Scottish husband has found a fantastic house in one of the British Overseas Territories.

I'll let you have the last word on that :-)

See you in 4 years, or sooner if you change your mind! Nothing like a trip to Aulani and 5-6 hour time difference to make you forget about current events... maybe a last Disney hurrah?
